Forms Data Controls :: FormView Doesn't Fill Automatically E.NewValues Collection

I placed one FormView and one GridView conrtrols on the same page with one linqdatasource that is connected to both controls via their DataSourceID properties. While the GridView works without any problem (on updating) the FormView doesn't update the record.I traced the FormView events and found that in FormView1_ItemUpdating the argument e.NewVaues.Count = 0 as well as e.OldVaues. I have a Formview binded in the code file to a generic list. Now, upon editing of a record, I wish to access the Keys and NewValues out of the FormViewUpdateEventArgs parameter of the ItemUpdating event handler method. From what I've tried and searched over the internet as of now, I've come to know that updated values are only available if the Formview is set a data source control on the markup page else they'd be null. Is this true?
Secondly, at this moment I am casting the sender object to formview and individually filling each object property by using FindControl method to find and retrieve values present in the controls. Is this the best way to do this task? As an example, this is what I am doing atm:
FormView currentForm = (FormView)sender;
ListObject.ID = new Guid(((HiddenField)(currentForm.FindControl("hdnID"))).Value);

I have a Gridview and I try to Iterate through the NewValues collection and HTML encode all.
I am following MSDN CODE.... using their code (posted here) I receive an error:
Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute.
I would like ask you a Full simple example how to implement it, so beginners like me can start use this function.

I have a formview and I want to do a lot with it.First I want to go from page a to page b where page b is a formview in insert mode.After the data is in a database a want to go to page b in select mode (readonly). With a button I want to go to update mode, so you can change your profile.But whatever I do, I stuck with filling up the formview and get the right data.My prograexist off fist make a user with a create user wizard.

i want my gridView to be refreshed so i can vies the new records when i insert to formview.
Now i have to go to another address and back to se the updated record.
i cant even press f5 because then it just duplicates the record with the same text from the formview even if the fields in the formview are empty.
There is got to be a code for this!?

I have an access database where when the record is updated I would like to automatically check a box and update the date to the current date in an Access 2002-2003 database. I've tried this for several days without any resolution and can't find anything that works on the net. ...I'm new at this.

Using .NET 4 with a modal popup extender and an update panel, it appears that when doing an update the first time, everything is fine. NewValues contains the new value and OldValues is empty. When attempting a second update, NewValues now contains both the old value and the new value separated by a comma, while OldValues is still empty. It seems to me like OldValues should have the old value and NewValues should just have the new value. This only happens when the formview is within the update panel. When it is removed, it works fine (although OldValues is never populated).

I have a formview with various templates set up for a database that has 255 columns. I need the insertitemtemplate to pre-fill values based upon a specific selection by the user (just like the edit item template) but when the template is switched to insertitemtemplate every text box is cleared. The idea is that a new entry is usually made by making minor changes to an existing entry. With 255 fields I don't want to require the user to enter every field when only three or four need to change.

by default, my formview loads up to Editmode and it looks like this:

Problem is if binding is not ran during postback here, buttons on the ItemInsert mode DO work, but the button on the ItemEdit mode DON'T work. However, if I don't bind the fv1 here during postback, controls will not load on the formview ItemEdit mode and databinding will not occur.

I thought that the "PageIndexChanged" is fired after the index has changed?
In other words when I'm at page 1 with a labelnumber 11 and I click on page 2, where the labelnumber =
22 and I do
the event "PageIndexChanged" I got the number "22" if I do the following code:

But that is not what happens I still got the labelnumber from page 1.
Did I understand the "PageIndexChanged" event wrong or is this a bug?
Because this is not working does somebody know how to solve this problem?

So, to sum is up, I have a FormView:

What does work: I do see the right info if the formview is shown but when I click on the Update button it just doesnt fire the corresponding itemupdating event.
Can someone see what is wrong or missing?
What do I want to archieve: Just update the subscription's credits and its type: Upgrade, Prolong.

New finding: I added 'onitemcommand="fvSubscriptionEdit_ItemCommand"' to the formview and a corresponding event method with a simple code that throw a exception(just testing) but it doesnt enter the method but does whine when the method is missing. So why does it whine if the method is not there but doesnt enter the method if it does exist? I presume that this is the same problem.

I have a list of objects that I want to bind to a gridview. Creating that list and binding it works fine for most of the public properties in that list.
There are some objects contained in each of those objects... for instance there is an Address object.
object.Address.Line1;
object.Address.Line2;
When I bind this to my gridview, I have no issues with stuff like object.DateRegistered, but how can I access things like object.Address.WhatEverProperty? I always get this error:
"A field or property with the name 'xxx.xxxx' was not found on the selected data source."

I'm not for sure how the ControlCollection of ASP.Net works, so maybe someone can shed some light on this for me. I recently discovered the magic that is extension methods and Linq. Well, I was very sad to find that this isn't valid syntax
var c=Controls.Where(x => x.ID=="Some ID").SingleOrDefault();
However from what I can tell, Controls does implement the IEnumerable interface which provides such methods, so what gives? Why doesn't that just work? I have found a decent work around for this issue at least:
var list = (IEnumerable<Control>)Controls;
var this_item = list.Where(x => x.ID == "Some ID").SingleOrDefault();

I have a web form for handling invoices which has a form view. When I'm in insert item template, I need to have various fields. Some of them are contract number, invoice number, register date and other that are easy to handle. But there is a dropdown list related with a table of prices (the table has price name, price initial payment, number of payments, amount of month fee and so on). So, when the dropdown is selected, fields related with price should get their values from price table, and then the user decides to keep them or type in new values. How can I get it done? Should I use a Dynamic populate extender or type all the code behind using SelectedIndexChanged method to populate price related controls?

I have a typical gridview/formview master control setup. When I try to update or insert I don't get any errors but it also doesn't work. When I try to insert data all I get are null values and when I update, none of the values are updated. The formview looks like its working, but just doesn't. The primary key is an identity and it auto-increments by one.

Here ho should work:
When a visitor from my site click a link (Ip address)it will be sent to: [URL] and the TextBox automatically populates with the value (Ip address the user has clicked).

I can open the modalpopup, can close the popup, but if i click the "edit" button to edit any of rows, the popup closes automatically. If I click again, the "Update" and "Cancel" buttons shows, and after clicking one of those, popup closes again. The above code works, if i use gridview the insert, edit or delete the data, does not close automatically. What may be the cause of this problem.
