I placed one FormView and one GridView conrtrols on the same page with one linqdatasource that is connected to both controls via their DataSourceID properties. While the GridView works without any problem (on updating) the FormView doesn't update the record.I traced the FormView events and found that in FormView1_ItemUpdating the argument e.NewVaues.Count = 0 as well as e.OldVaues. Count (also zero). Getting items from e.NewValues[index] or [key] causes an obvious exception. However, all the bound contolsn this wa
I am playing with Asp.net MVC 3, I was wondering how do you acheive a collection rendering in the view when the collection is made of 'real world' objects. Let's say I have a collection of client, each client may have an address and an adress may have a country.
When I write the following code it crashs if one of the client has a null address (or a null country). Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I've been tryin to find an example of the syntax for getting an html 'title' for a string when using Html.Encode(). I want to display the full name in the mouseover title, if it's too long.
Is there a way to do this without wrapping the string in a < span >, i.e.
<span title = "<%=Html.Encode(model.Name) %>"> //displays the full name on mouseover <%=Html.Encode(model.Name.Substring(0, 10))%>... //displays the name up to a max length </span>
I've installed a Free TextBox editor to allow clients to do a write up about themselves and style it with HTML. Been reading about cross site script attacks (XSS) and want to make sure I'm correctly uploading the data collected with the Server.encode method.
I'd like to html encode all user input on the ASP.NET MVC 2 site but default. Can this be done anywhere on model binder level?
If I disable input validation for action -- I will need to html-encode every other value. If I keep ASP.NET request validation on -- it will throw erros "A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client"
P.S. I do use encoding when outputting data (<%: %> syntax), but I'd like to encode everything on posting it too.
I have an html table in an aspx page (C#) that has columns like
1.CheckBox 2.Text 3.Text 4.TextBox
I want to iterate through the table one row at a time and process (run a stored procedure based on column2) based on whether the checkbox is checked or not. How will I be able to do that?
I have programatically added javascript to HyperLink controls on all pages in my site from the Masterpage as it is served up.
I have a new problem. I have a Masterpage wrapper around html pages without asp.net controls in them. Using the Masterpage, I need to parse through all html hrefs in each page and add javascript to each link if it includes "http" or ".pdf". Can the Masterpage parse the text of each page and programatically change it?
I'm working on this big project in MVC ASP.NET w VB.NETOne of my views is getting me headaches since a few and i'm not sure what's up.I've used the Begin.Form and Html.Encode methods alot in my other views and i never had any problems. Now this new Create.aspx view for one of my object called Automation is giving me multiple build errors such as those cited in the title plus
Error 184 'Context' is not a member of 'ASP.views_automatisation_create_aspx'. BeginForm is not a member of 'Html' Encode is not a member of HTML
My header is as follow (just like all of my other working views headers) : \ <%@ Page Title="" Language="VB" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage(Of XXXXX_XXXXX.Automatisation)" %>
I am creating a html table from a list collection. I am able to create the table, but I am not able to group the related items and add into a single table.
[Code]....
I have 3 items in the list collection, in which Student Name is same for 2 items.
Now I am getting 3 tables. I want to group the student Name and get a single table for unique student name.
This is my list collection:
Student ID Student Name Mark1
1 John 25 2 Mac 22 3 John 24
I am getting 3 tables now, but i would like to group the student Name and then get a single table for John having his marks and another table for Mac.
Using .NET 4 with a modal popup extender and an update panel, it appears that when doing an update the first time, everything is fine. NewValues contains the new value and OldValues is empty. When attempting a second update, NewValues now contains both the old value and the new value separated by a comma, while OldValues is still empty. It seems to me like OldValues should have the old value and NewValues should just have the new value. This only happens when the formview is within the update panel. When it is removed, it works fine (although OldValues is never populated).
I have a Formview binded in the code file to a generic list. Now, upon editing of a record, I wish to access the Keys and NewValues out of the FormViewUpdateEventArgs parameter of the ItemUpdating event handler method. From what I've tried and searched over the internet as of now, I've come to know that updated values are only available if the Formview is set a data source control on the markup page else they'd be null. Is this true?
Secondly, at this moment I am casting the sender object to formview and individually filling each object property by using FindControl method to find and retrieve values present in the controls. Is this the best way to do this task? As an example, this is what I am doing atm:
I am using FormView component which has a field that is the sex of the person that I am using RadioButtonList with a simple way to show Male and Female, but want to retrieve the information and OldValue NewValues not anything behind me.
In the FormView Edit Template: <! - SEX -> <tr> <td> <strong> Gender: </ strong> </ td>
I have a list of objects that I want to bind to a gridview. Creating that list and binding it works fine for most of the public properties in that list.
There are some objects contained in each of those objects... for instance there is an Address object.
object.Address.Line1;
object.Address.Line2;
When I bind this to my gridview, I have no issues with stuff like object.DateRegistered, but how can I access things like object.Address.WhatEverProperty? I always get this error:
"A field or property with the name 'xxx.xxxx' was not found on the selected data source."
I have an ASP.NET app with lots of textboxes all over the page that need updating at various points through program execution.
These textboxes actually belong to a certain class, so for easy updating I thought I could create a Dictionary(Of string, object) and add the control.ID and the control to it and then for updating do something like this:
(in case of updating textbox.text):
[code]....
However the text property of the textbox does not actually get updated. I'm mainly trying to avoid having to manually do textbox.text = somestring for each one of my textboxes every time I have to update them.
var encodedUrl = HttpUtility.UrlEncode("http://www.example.com"); var decodedUrl = HttpUtility.UrlDecode("http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eexample%2Ecom%2F");
I'm working with the google webmaster tools api and this api expects an URL as shown in the decodedUrl variable above. Every single character is encoded there.
When i use the httputility encode function i get the following result;[[URL] How can i use the encoding variable in such a way that every character in the url is encoded?
The URL link below will open a new Google mail window. The problem I have is that Google replaces all the plus (+) sign in the email body with blank space. It looks like it only happens with the + sign. ( I am working the ASP.NET web page)
[URL]
(In the body email, "Hi there+Hello there" will show up as "Hi there Hello there")
I know that I could use HttpServerUtility.UrlTokenDecode Method to do the job. But the problem is that I am using .NET 1.1 and this method is only supported in .NET 2.0+. Also I found that Convert.ToBase64String method is not an option because of the differences addressed here. So what other options do I have? Do I have to write my own converting method?
When storing a value in a cookie using C#, what is the best way to encode (or escape) the value so that it can be retrieved and decoded/unescaped reliably?
I want to reliably and easily Uri encode paths such as "/folder/foo%bar" to "/folder/foo%25bar".
I would have hoped that HttpUtility.UrlPathEncode would do the trick but this method only escapes spaces. I don't want to url HttpUlity.UrlEncode as this will encode "foo bar" to "foo+bar" - which ain't what I want.
I need HTML ENCODE in JavaScript (client side) a String (where User could insert HTML TAGS) from a TextBox so bypassing Reqeust.Validation.Javascript should Encode string and Display it Encoded in Label.
I am new in JavaScript and I have tried different scripts on a web but with no success.Could you please post a really simple example so I would be able to understand how could work
