Forms Data Controls :: Getting The Value Of Checkbox From Datasource?
Mar 17, 2010
Presently I am binding the grid using the SqlDataSoruce by a stored procedure.
The output of the stored procedure contains more columns as compared to the columns in the datagrid.
In the grid there are some checkboxes also. While saving the checkboxes in the database I differeniat them in different columns as checked and unchecked.
Now while retrieving I need to check if the record that is being returned is coming from a checked column or unchecked column.
Once I have that I need to check or uncheck the checkbox on the datagrid.
Now My problem is I am not able to get the checked or uncheked column value from the sqldatasource.
How can I get that? The below code is for binding the grid with the datasource.

Scenario:
I am creating a custom gridview control which has a custom CheckBoxTemplateField column (deriving from TemplateField class). This template field column has custom Checkboxheadertemplate (implementing ITemplate) and CheckboxItemTemplate (also implementing ITemplate). In InstantiateIn method of both templates (header as well as Item template), I am adding a checkbox control which has Autopostback = true.
My requirement is:
I want to mark all the values in the binding column of datasource if checkbox in headertemplate is checked. I dont want to mark only rows visible on grid. I WANT TO MARK ALL ROWS IN DATASOURCE. I want to do this in _CheckedChanged event of checkbox in header template.
Problem I am facing: When I check/uncheck the checkbox in header, it postbacks. so in OnCheckedChanged event, gridview's datasource is null. Secondly, in any event of gridview, I could access only those rows of datasource for which corresponding rows are visible in gridview through Gridviewrow.DataItem property. But I want to set it for all rows in datasource.

i have two sqldatasource controls. one i use to display data in textbox's ,filter'd by a select parameter in page behind code. Once checked, i want to copy this data to the other datasource ,by selecting checkbox. Then display this data in detailsview control.
At present the two datasource controls declared , render data to the page simultaneously during pageload. I want to first check data in textbox's from first source, before second datasource is rendered to screen. note, both are filtered by a page variable. i wish to leave the textbox datasource control in situ, as other controls and code depend on it.The other detailsview datasource is my problem?

I'm not expecting a full solution here (unless you really want to), just some tips and pointers.
I have a User table and an Area table. The User table has userID, userName etc., and the Area table has areaID, areaName etc.
I'm binding the list of Areas to a checkboxlist where the user MUST choose between 1-3 options. I'm using a stored procedure to update the DB.
Is there a common solution to this problem that I haven't found?
I have thought about saving it as a comma separated string in a field in the user table. This looks like a temporary and ugly solution though, do you think?
A nicer solution would be to create a UserArea table where I save the ID's as foreign keys from areaID and userID. But I don't know how to write this stored procedure where I update and insert the choices made.

I am working on a page where the user first selects a state from a drop down, then a city from a checkbox list (eventually able to select multiple cities, but have to figure out how to do one first). The checkbox list is dependent upon the state selected. I would like the selected value of the checkbox to be submitted into the ListingLocation table of the database. In the code I have written I have included a label that displays the id value of the selected box when submitted just to make sure that the checkbox is providing the correct value. For some reason when I select a state and then check a city and click submit, no value is written into the database. The label text changes to the number I want entered into the database, so it is generating the correct number, but not submitting. I have included my code below.
<script runat="server">

In the user form, the user has a chekboxList, and he can select more than one item.
how can I store those selected items in database, and how then I can retrieve them.
"
Is it true to make a separate column for each item, and then if selected, then that cloumn will have "1" and "0" for non selected.
"
Only that idea occurred to my mind, and I think that I can find better it.

I have a checkbox column in a Gridview that I would like to use to insert the value of one cell in the row into an access database. There will be a maximun of five cells allowed to be selected so there can be one value written to one field in the database up to the maximum of the five fields. The access database has five columns: Selection1 ,Selection2, Selection3 ,Selection4 and Selection5
When the checkbox is checked, the value of one cell (PliD) should be written to each field in the database. Ie: checkbox in row 1 should write PliD value to Selection1, checkbox in row 2 should write PliD value to Selection2, checkbox in row 3 should write PliD value to Selection3 and on depending on which checkbox has been checked. I am not sure how to get the value of the checkbox and write it into the corresponding fields in the database.

I just wrote something small up with a GridView databound to the products table of the northwind database to play around with the control. I added a template field and put a checkbox in it, ProductID, ProductName, and UnitCost. I can successfully loop through the GridView and find the rows that have the checkbox checked, and can get ProductName for each row, but keep erroring out on ProductID and UnitCost. It's probably something small, but I just cannot figure it out. Here is what I have so far:
[Code]....
My code behind, where I handle a button click event to get all values in rows w/ selected checkboxes:
[Code]....
Can I not use row.Cells[i]? The only thing Intellisense gives me that makes any sense is 'rows.Cells[i].Text'... not sure what else to do.

I've created a data bound gridview to a SQL database. I am retrieving the data with a simple select for a specific date, and then populating my gridview. The one caveat is that I have added a second header row to my gridview, and then I am hiding parts of another row that was retrieved to only populate the main header row. I believe that this is causing my issue. However, when I step through the code it appears that my ids are proper (the first row has an id of 0, etc....). However, when I check the checkbox in row 4, the actual data from row 3 is being pulled out of the gridview.

I have 13 checkbox which is consist of outlet locations, The way i store into database is converting the 13 outlet code and store in string type which is need to split it when the need to view it.
My problem now is, i would like get any releated outlet code checked into checkbox which is the outlet code store into mysql in same column and row. for example:
Outlet code store into my cLocCode column inside table itemdetail. The data inside store in string type:
|cLocCode |productcode |
|200,201,202,203,204,205 |xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |
As all of u can see the cLocCode store as string. I would like to load it into web form as checkbox which is like this:
x Checkbox200.Checked x Checkbox201.Checked x Checkbox202.Checked x Checkbox203.Checked
x Checkbox204.Checked x Checkbox205.Checked x Checkbox 206.Unchecked
this is the situation.
