I'm using a SqlDataAdapter to return search results produced by ddlsearch.selectedvalue and txtsearch.text. The results are returned to a DataTable which is bound to gridview MySearch.
Here's the code I'm working with:

This works great for Exact matches. However, I need to modify the above code so that it will find similar matches also. If I enter screw I need to return all results that have screw in the search field, beginning middle or end.

I tried with following way but not able to acheive it, it pull only first letter match records..

I have a dynamic textbox appearing in a gridview on the row editing function. I have the following code to set the focus tot he textbox:
GridView1.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex
BindData()
GridView1.Rows(e.NewEditIndex).FindControl("txtTargetAmount").Focus()
This works fine, but I would now also like to select the data in the textbox so the user does not have to select the text before typing, they can just type straight away. I have been trying to use:
txtTargetAmount1.SelectionStart = 0
txtTargetAmount1.SelectionLength = txtTargetAmount1.Text.Length
but this does not work.

I have a text box in a gridview that is causing some problems with user input. The first time the user opens the page the gridview is populated with zero's in all rows textboxes. I set the focus to the first textbox in the Page_Load event but the cursor is placed to the left of the zero and when some users enter data they don't realize the zero doesn't go away so the first row ends up wrong. Once the tab or enter key is hit and the next row is selected, the zero is "selected", for lack of a better term like when the insert key is predded, and once the user starts typing only the new value remains. Is there a way to make the zero in the first row "selected" ?

I guess I'm not sure exactly how or where to do what I need.
First off - here's what I need - - when the user clicks on the NEW button in the detailsView, I have the User.Identity.name captured in a variable and I need to set one of the textboxes (InsertItemTemplate) named 'txtNew' to that name.
I've tried using the ModeChanging (and ModeChanged) event:

However, no matter what, 'dv' always shows as 'Nothing', so I can't change the text of it.

I want to preset the value of a textbox within a databound formview. Tried it within codebehind on onModeChanging and onItemInserting. Method onModeChanging was fired but the textbox.text shows not the expected text. Method onItemInserting was not fired at all.
Thought to use inlinecode like

I have data coming from two tables with a foreign key relationship - one User table containing users of the web application, and one Page table containing details about pages visited by each user.I would like to be able to view these data in a gridview or the like on a page. It's easy enough to just show the User table data like so (I'm using the Entity Framework and LINQ):

But how can I show the Page details? I'm not bent on any particular way of showing it, but the only idea I've been able to come up with is to have a dropdown list for each user in a column. But I can't figure out how to get the page data into such a dropdown list. I'm tyring to write a simple DetailsView only used for inserting new records that will pre-fill a textbox with a query string value. Here's the DetailsView:

All I want to do is set VenueID_FK.Text to = the "VenueID" querry string. I also want the user to be able to see the VenueID number as they are filling out GridView1.
I know this is probably a simple thing, but I am very new to asp.net. I thought I could handle this in the page load event, but when I try something like this
TextBox VenueID_FK = (TextBox)DetailsView1.FindControl("VenueID_FK");
And then follow by setting the Text property programitically. I've accomplished something similar to this on a different page using a FormView, but only for ReadOnly mode and it was handled in the databound event on that page.
I get the error "The name 'DetailsView1' doesn't exist in the current context." when trying to do the above mentioned. When trying the same line in the databound event here, I get the same error.

I am working on a project in which i have a master Gridview. It has a DetailsView and two GridViews as its children. I want to have the same master and child combination on two more pages in the application. On the first page i just want to change the select command of the master gridview and everything else remails the same. On the second page i want to change the master gridview to a dropdownlist with the same datasource and everything else remains the same.Can anyone please suggest me what would be the best way to go around it. Right now, all these three pages has its own set of codes and if i do any change to one of them then i have to do it in all three pages. I was looking at usercontrols but i think those won't work since i have do to slight modifications(as suggested above).

I was requested to develop a GridView like screen to allow easy DataEntry without the need to Click Save/Submit on each row of the GridView.
In other words, the user wants to edit the GridView Cells in a Web Screen as if he is editing Cells in MS Excel. The Data should be saved as soon as he will exit the cell by pressing the down arrow.
It think the only way to do that is to use Ajax technology, right ?
Maybe jQuery or ExtJS ?

i have some textboxes in my parent page and a search button. when the search button is clicked, my modalpopup pops up. after chosing (clicking on the select button of the row) an entry from a gridview within my modalpopup (each row in the gridview has a buttonField), the rowCommand_Event fires... within this event i try to set the .Text property of some textboxes within the page containing my modalpopupExtender... i get no exceptions, but the textboxes are not set...

Is it possible to access textbox text properties from codebehind when gridview is edit mode? for example I can access label's text properties on gridview row databound event.

So I do not like use Text='<%#Eval("ColumnName")%' this method. I want to manage textbox text properties dynamcily codebehind when click the edit button on gridview. When I clik the edit button these code blocks runs

I'm writing new section to a website and am looking to use a UI similar to the MSDN Download page with the Product Details and Keys in an accordian like section. Haven't been able to find a description of how this is done as of yet - still looking though but figured I'd ask if there is an available control or a description of that control instead of reinventing it.

I have a series of textboxes on a FormView. There is a textbox for entering a percent for a deposit amount and next to that a corresponding textbox for entering a dollar value for a deposit amount. There are 3 sets of these.
If a user changes a percent textbox, I update the dollar value textbox based on the percent times the project's total cost. If a user changes the dollar value textbox, the percent textbox gets updated as a percent of that dollar amount divided by the project's total cost.
I have the percent textboxes formatted as "{0:0%}" and the dollar value textboxes as "{0:C}".
When a user types into the textbox, the formatting goes away and we get raw numbers but I don't want those raw numbers to remain as such after they tab or click out of the field. I added a TextChanged event to reset the formatting. This works fine on reformatting the percent textbox but the currency one remains as just a raw numeric value.
