I am familiar with populating a gridview with data. I am able to bind the Data pulled from the database into the gridview
gridview.DataSource = myDataTable;
gridview.Databound.
If I write the following code, teh gridview will no longer show the data
gridview.DataSource = null;
gridview.Databound.
My question is , I want to make the same thing with a user control that contain a gridview. when I use the user control in an aspx page, I am able to populate it with data, but when I try to make this code, the Datasource does not show, instead, I see .DV. So I tried this code but then , I do not see DataSource property instead I see DV (DataView), when I put .DV = null, I get an error message that the object is not in existed. any idea how to clear the user control gridview from its data.

I would like the selectedvalue of the dropdown to display additional data base on its selection in multiple text boxes.
I have tried using the DropDownList OnSelectedIndexChanged property, within a DataGrid EditiItemTemplate, but I cannot retrieve data from the selection. (AutoPostBack is "True"). I can however use a button onclick event to fire a "prre-defined" selection value.

I tried to add a htmlinputFile control on the Webform. I also added a button and a textbox. All I need is to display the file name that I selected on the htmlinputFile dialog. I don't really need to upload the file content at all. I failed a couple times . Is there correct way to do it? I even tried the Fileupload control and didn't work.

My company want to display the create_date and edit_date fields in a gridview for each transaction. The problem i have is that after insterting a record it will have a valid create_date but no edit_date and when displayed in the gridview it defaults to datetime.minvalue (My default). How on earth do i show an empty field in my gridview for a null datetime field in the database?
I am using similar architecture to the Imar Spaanjaars example of a tiered solution. With a few small tweeks it has worked well for me for ages. I am passing a List<Database> to my object datasource which connects to my gridview.
we have a AutoGenerateColumns-enabled WmxDataGrid in which we are able to update table rows in a DataBase connected with a SqlDataSource.
Each time we clear a field an empty string is written to the database where we want to write DBNull values.
At the moment we generate the update string via UPDATE... SET.. and the SQL Server function NULLIF(value, '').
Works proper but when I want to add the values to e.NewValues in BeginUpdate event I'm not able to read the values from the auto generated text boxes. How do I do that? Is there an easier way to automatically convert empty strings to NULL values?

On Page load i bind user controls UC1, UC2 with selected value of radiobutton. But when i select new value in radiobutton it fires selectionchanged event, executes bind method but doesn't update uc1,uc2 values. Similarly I'm trying to get button commandargument when button is clicked and update usercontrols but it doesn't.
What could be causing them not to update even when bind method is executed?

The UserProfileForm1 control is a form builder that creates a form based on the profile design. When the form is posted, I am looking through the controls in the form and handling each one as needed. We there is a file upload control it shows up as a htmlinputfile control but the postedfile property is always nothing.When I look at the Request.Files collection the first file (Request.Files(0)) is the file I selected to upload. But on the same page I have a repeater which uses the data that is being modified by the button. I would need somehow the buttonclick event occur "earlier" than the databinding in the repeater to show the correct data.

I have a datagridview control that I'm using to display cache data to the end used on a web form. The issue that I'm having is that every time I re-run the application, and the cache data is re-generated... it loads duplicate data that's being displayed to the end user. I can't seem to figure out how to keep this from happening.
What I would like to have happen is that only unique data rows be returned and cached for the end user. Unless there are new data rows on the database that needs to be included in the cache data results...the previous data results should not be duplicated. I've tried to change a few properties on the datagridview control, but nothing seem to keep this from happening.
