From my understanding this if (ddl_Upload.SelectedValue == .... Is only recognized if I would have listed -Select, Images etc as List Items for the drop down?

It basically is 4 questions with each answer assigned a value.
What I would like to do is when the button is clicked the selected values are retrieved and calculated to give a total.
That total is then compared against some common totals and the next value is shown.
So is the total is 8= Very Good, 6= Very Bad, 4= Terrible etc.
The two labels Result and Truth would sho the numerical result and the truth according to the scale.
I am at a loss on how to retrieve the list button clicked value, how to add them up and referance that to the Truth result.

View 8 Replieswe have a AutoGenerateColumns-enabled WmxDataGrid in which we are able to update table rows in a DataBase connected with a SqlDataSource.
Each time we clear a field an empty string is written to the database where we want to write DBNull values.
At the moment we generate the update string via UPDATE... SET.. and the SQL Server function NULLIF(value, '').
Works proper but when I want to add the values to e.NewValues in BeginUpdate event I'm not able to read the values from the auto generated text boxes. How do I do that? Is there an easier way to automatically convert empty strings to NULL values?

View 2 Repliesi have a webpage with a calendar and the days are rendered with events from a sql database and the imagebuttons are generated programmatically. the issue i am having is that when i click on the imagebuttons, nothing happens. i have specified the imagebutton.command and the imagebutton.commandargument and eventually, i want it to load a modal popup but at the moment, for testing, i simply have it redirect me to another page.
the imagebutton commandeventhandler doesnt seem like it is firing. at the moment, it seems to be doing a postback. i also do not want the postback to happen. i simply want to show a modalpopup and databind the details view inside the popup, i know how to do all of that, i just want to know how to
what i need to do to execute the function when the imagebutton is clicked and how i can associate that function with the commandargument of the imagebutton.

I would like the selectedvalue of the dropdown to display additional data base on its selection in multiple text boxes.
I have tried using the DropDownList OnSelectedIndexChanged property, within a DataGrid EditiItemTemplate, but I cannot retrieve data from the selection. (AutoPostBack is "True"). I can however use a button onclick event to fire a "prre-defined" selection value.
I am editing the page links text 1 2 3 4 5 ... as 1-10 11-20 21-30 31-40 ...succesfully. But here the problem is when am clicking 21-30 link it changes to 3. How to display the 3 as 21-30.

I am familiar with populating a gridview with data. I am able to bind the Data pulled from the database into the gridview

If I write the following code, teh gridview will no longer show the data

My question is , I want to make the same thing with a user control that contain a gridview. when I use the user control in an aspx page, I am able to populate it with data, but when I try to make this code, the Datasource does not show, instead, I see .DV. I am using VS 2008.I am building a datatable of records to be inserted into a SQL Server 2005 table.
The program loops through this table and builds a SqlParameter for each DataColumn in the datatable. The SqlParameters are used in the SQL Insert statement.
The field I am having a problem with is of type 'bit' in the database table and has no default value and cannot be nulls. The field is called 'Active' The meaning of this field in the application is Boolean i.e True or False. When inserting the record, I wish to default the field to "False".
When I define the columns in the datatable I am forced to use the following code to build the datatcolumn containing the boolean field i.e. dtcActive.DataType = GetType(Boolean) as there is no GetType(Bit)

This is because there is no SqlDbType.Boolean. The problem I have is there is no value I have been able to give the SqlParameter that is accepted by the Insert statement. It complains that the boolean field cannot be null on Insert.
Basically, the user Selects a row on GV that executes an Insert into a table the GV cell values of the selected row.
The SQL field data type is varchar. If the GV field is Null, the Insert adds the value to the SQL field. How do I keep the @nbsp; from being displayed in the cell of a data control when it is called at a later time? Do I add some more asp to my control parameter? do I add some vb code behind? Note that <reply> is a button in a template field. I would like to know how is it possible to catch the From value of the row when reply button is clicked from the same row in the grid. I want to pass this from value to a modal dialog which i have already created. How is that possible.
