I am using VS 2005.My requirement is
1) on a button click, new web page(New.aspx) should open and this new web page is populating data from an xml file and if this xml file doesnot find then it should redirect to another webpage ErrorPage.aspx.

I'm trying to create a HTTP handler to handle all requests to a folder but I only want it to fire if the files requested don't exist (EG: Request comes in for file X, if X exists I'd like to serve the file, otherwise the handler should deal with it).The files will only be static content, not scripts themselves, which I assume makes it a bit easier but I can't seem to find anything that will do the trick... Anyone have any ideas? I assume it can be done since the IIS7 rewrite module can manage it, but I can't see how...Edit Just to clarify... the handler is the typical case and it is not an error-handling routine but actually delivering appropriate content. I just want the ability to add new files to the folder either as separate things or as overloads to what the handler would deliver.

I just got a new desktop computer with Windows 7 Pro as the operating system. I installed Visual Studio 2008 on to this new computer and tried to open a previously existing ASP.NET 3.5 solution that displayed perfectly fine on my previous computer (this previous computer used the Windows XP operating system, IIS6, and IE7 browser). However, in Windows7/IE8, I'm receiving the following error:

when I tell you that the file '/MasterPages/MainMaster.master' file does, in fact, exist. In addition, this file's location is properly referenced in the code (as indicated in Line 1 above), and as I said, was displayed properly by the browser in my previous computer. It might also be helpful to note that I've tried to navigate to other pages in this site, and this browser displays the same message for any and all master pages located in my MasterPages folder. In summary, for some reason the browser cannot see any pages in the MasterPages folder. Can anybody tell me why I'm getting this error message when the folder and file is exactly where default.aspx says it is?
I am having a dropdown list in the aspx page as

but when i refer the ddlItems in page_load i am getting "Error 1 The name 'ddlItems' does not exist in the current context.
On our company we have a intranet site which uses ASP classic to authenticate users before accesing the site. This site was working before but suddenly i throws an error which limits the users in accessing the intranet site. I made a debugger page in order to know the error of the application and it showed me this error [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. On my local machine the page is accessible on my (IIS server) the connectionstring in the web server and in my localhost are the same. I just can't figure out what's causing this problem.

View 3 RepliesI have problem with Dynamic Controls in my Wizard Steps. In one of my Steps, I create a set of text boxes and checkboxes based on values from an XML document. Now, I initialise my dynamic controls using the OnInit method of the page, but at this stage there is no xml document until that step is reached, and of course I get null exception. How do I set my dynamic controls so it doesn't throw an null exception and be able to load any xml document when that step is reached?

I have a web app that works with an object-relational database. Displaying data in a gridview is one thing, but when it comes to updating that data that is quite difficult with nested tables, user-defined objects, etc (I've had errors such as"Reference to a NULL table value", and a couple of things). My fix to this was to update the data on another page. '(This method involved using textboxes and a button, no detailsview or gridview).
So I'd like to know how do I select a row of a gridview in page 1 and that row displayed on page 2 for editing? I followed the steps here: http://forums.asp.net/p/1122208/1755008.aspx#1755008 and got the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
This task seems pretty simple, but I don't know how to do it.
(In case you're wondering why not just use the method I had, it is because I had a text box to enter the PK of that row. I was told that for the web app to be more "user-friendly" the user should not have to enter the PK, but instead click on that row from the gridview and be directed to a page with that row already selected. Then I'll use that method)
I'm adding now e-mail sending to my application and I have one problem. When user gave a bad e-mail address (that doesn't exist) and I'll send email to that address, that email message will go back to my email account. So for 100 users it will be 100 unwanted messages. In this situations my email account will be full of messages. So: how to avoid that situations and remove automatically incoming messages?

my application in vs2005 / 2.0 framework , right now i change it with VSD08 /3.5 framework according when i change it open it with 08 at first time it get ask me ( you want to convert the application framework 2.0 to 3.5 ) i said yes , after that i was trying to run the application it get works on that machine means on ( locahost) but not able to access that on netowork its shows an error:

I have a two webpages,in my first webpage i have gridview with 8 pages(paging) and four coloumns.In fourth coloumn i have a link button to redirect tosecond webpage ,now i am in gridview 4 th page(paging) then i clicked the link button and move to second
