I have a ListView control on a page that I need to support inline editing and inserting. Before I put it inside an update panel, everything was fine. As soon as I put it in an update panel, I seem to lose theOnItemUpdating, OnItemCanceling events. The OnItemEding event still fires, though.I am doing all updating, inserting manually.

i have two nested gridview inside an update panel. there is a button called btnPhoneEdit inside the child grid view. when the button gets clicked, it do cause partial post back as expected but it fails to invoke btnPhoneEdit_Click.

What I did is, I have made 2 user controls. One control is inside the other.
NoW one control has a buttton and a data grid and datalist in it. When pressing button I am filling datagrid while datalist visiblity false. This is working fine. But now when I press some link button in datalist data, it should call item_command event but it is not calling.
I have also used a Updatepanel as a wrapper(all controls are inside it).
I have a usercontrol with listview control nested inside an UpdatePanel and Panel. Below is the layout:UserControl :: Panel1 -> UpdatePanel -> Panel2 -> ListViewUpdateMode is set to conditional. Panel2's visibility is initially set to false.In the containing page, I load the usercontrol and bind the ListView, turn on the panel2 and call the update method of the updatepanel (since action is initiated by an external button and not a child of updatepanel) which displays the rows successfully. However, none of the edit, select or delete actions execute the intended way. When I click any of those buttons, I can see the
UpdateProgress fine but the events seem to be not firing at all. Execution hits the PageLoad but not into any of those event handlers likeItemEditing, SelectedIndexChanging etc.
I have a ListView1 control that his <ItemTempleae> has a another ListView2. ListView2 is surrounded by <UpdatePanel> with trigger and also UpdateMode="Conditional". But, I don't know why ListView2 is not being update as it should, I need to refresh all the page to see the new data enter to ListView2 only. What is the problem? How can it be fixed? I think that the problem is something in the structure. There are about 10 ListView2 with updatepanel surronded them, so when I am looking to update a specific ListView2, it doesn't know which one to update because there are lots of them. What to do in order to solve that problem?
View 3 Replies I am using Asp.Net 3.5. I am having two problems in dropdown inside the update panel. I have two drop down list. First dropdown i loaded the data from db. Its working fine. Once i changed the data using SelectedIndexChange event it's firing first time(i put AutoPostback="true") if i click multiple times for multiple data it's not fired. If changed the value i bind the data to another dropdown list. But it is not binding. My control is inside the update panel. What is the problem? i came across multiple site and try it.But no use? When the FormView is in Edit mode, ddlCategory is populated as expected by calling GetCategories(), which returns a List of categories. However, when the ListView is in Insert mode, ddlCountry is empty. I put a break point in GetCountries(), but it never gets called. If I change the name of the method, I get an error. So it recognizes the method at compile time, but does not call it at run time. I'm guessing this is an embedded binding issue of some kind, but I'm hoping someone can save me a lot of time by pointing out the solution.
I am loading the autocomplete extender properly but I need the PK from the selectedValue. I have looked at other examples and they do NOT show how to drill into the tabcontainer, then drill into the listview, and then locate the extender value. Here is what I have so far. My "TABCONTAINER" value shows the extender correctly but I am unable to locate it.

I'm trying to change the visibility of a imagebutton to false, if the imagebutton.ImageUrl="". The problem is that the imagebutton is inside "ListView2", and "ListView2" is inside "ListView1". Who can I do this in vb code... or even a javascript.

I am populating an asp.net listview control from my page_load event. Unfortunately, due to my projects requirements, I have to use a third party control within my listviews ItemTemplate that needs to have database values written to its attributes before my listview control is bound, if this is not the case my control flags a null reference exception error. From some investigation into the listview control, it seems that the only way to do this is through my listviews ItemDataBound event as my thrid party control will hold different value depending on each row.was wondering if it's at all possible to force my listviews ItemDataBound event to fire before I call mylistview.databind();?

Everything is working perfect to present the data questions, to be answered text with the different type of controls radiobuttonlists, checkboxlists, dropdownlists, etc. The admin can modify, create, change questions, answers, etc. on the survey.When it's select, edit, or insert it's easy to find the control inside a listview.However, I'm wondering how to post user's answers back to DB. How to find controls inside the listview to grab the entered data/responses from there using let's say the submit button that is outside of the listview.I believe there should be a way to do it as otherwise why we put radiobuttonlist on a listview that somebody could click it and then we should be able to get that entries. Or I'm too optimistic on this control?
View 2 RepliesI'm using VS2008. When a dataset is bound to the DataSource of a ListView, SelectedIndexChanged event does not fire. If I used DataSourceID instead, it has no problem. But SelectedIndexChanging event fires for both.
why and how I can get SelectedIndexChanged event fired when DataSource is used?
I have a page with a listview that shows something like posts. On each post there should be a "rate box" which works similar to the "Like" button in facebook. The rate box is a User Control, that has an update panel inside it.
If I put the control with some random values in the page it works great - but when I put it inside the ListView, where it should be located, it won't work. The method is being called, but nothing happens.

While debugging I noticed the controls in the method "OnRateClick" are empty and don't contain the right values.
I'm using a standard GridView control inside of a web form. The web form uses a master page. The application is running within sharepoint (wss 3.0) environment. When i attach both the OnRowCommand and OnRowDatabound events to the gridview as shown in the markup below, only the OnRowDataBound event fires. The OnRowCommand never gets hit. When i press a button on a row, it posts back but never hits the onRowCommand event and simply falls through and repaints the page . However if i remove the OnRowDataBound event, the OnRowCommand event starts to fires correctly. I've tried a number of things...1. Hooking up the events in code instead of markup. (inside of PageLoad or PageInit)2. Changing the order in which the events are attached.

When the CheckBox is checked, I would like to trigger an the Updatepannel that includes the label.
