I have a GridView with an image button in a TemplateField in the last column.
I would like to pass the GridView row values (Bound Field Values - a record) to a JavaScript function to create another html table of selected records in ClientSide (like jCart-A shopping cart).
I would like to know how to pass all GridView column values to the javascript when the image at the end of the respective row is clicked.
In this datelastmodified is Datagrid Column Name. I m displaying that column value in DIV. Now, I want to display another column Value in that DIV. that column name is Document Type. May I know how to pass that value.
I am collecting user roles into a single dimension string array.
I have a repeater that its source set to that array. The repeater template includes list of checkboxes for the values in the array.The checkbox text is set to: Text='<%# Container.DataItem %>'
All is good till this point.
But I am trying to call a javascript function triggered by clickign a checkbox and pass it the container.dataitem, but the javascript doesn't seem to be reading the value and either complain about string not being in correct format or that treats the container.dataitem as a liter. This is the trial that didn't work (I tried many different things too):

I am looking for a method to format gridview bound data using javascript.
I know you can have custom formating in Eval using:
[Code]....
But I am looking for a way to perform this task on client side, rather than doing it on the server.
For example if I want to format a date field being bound in a custom way, something like emails date received in gmail. (Only show time if it is today's date [15:30] and only show day and month if it is this year date [14 Jan] and show the full date if it is not this year [10/10/2009].
So, how I use javascript to format a field (ie. custom date format or setting a control visibility)?
I have a gridview that pops up when you click a link. It displays 5 columns.. if you click on the "select" link next to the record, i pass that rows values back to my form and submit the form again.. this works fine if i select a record that has all my form field values..
but if i pick a record that has some values that are empty it doesnt work.. after debugging im finding that for the fields that are blank on the screen, this is the value being passed " " which of course is not empty or null.. so my code doesnt know how to handle that.. i even tried to add .Trim() to the end of the gridview value and still getting that space being passed. How can i pass empty string instead of the for fields that dont have anything to pass?

We do have a search page for customers which returns a list of data from a table.
Once we select on an item it should redirect to another page with customerId as a querystring parameter..
Now the problem is we have to save all the customerIds and need to send them to display page..and need to select next one once they done with previous one without going to the search page again..
Example:
if they got 10 customers in the search page then we need to send all 10 ids to display page by starting display of firstone and once they select next button on display page they have to move on to the next cutomer from that list..if they reached the end of list they have to start again from the first...we need to avoid the user going to the search page for each customer every time...
I have grid view when click Search gridview will display and also click from dropdownlist it should display. Have a link in gridview if click link the values should pass to another page in textboxes so that I can update again. My issue is I cannot search when click search button and not from dropdown also.

I need to call a javascript funtion, on the click event of buttons(asp button or html button) in my gridviw.Also I need to pass the ID from the gridview(datakey value) as a parameter to the javascript function.
ie ,All the rows in my gridview has a button field,on clicking each of the buttons ,a javascript function is to be fired ,and the ID of that particular row from gridview(datakey value) should be passed to the javascript as a parameter.

How would I pass an Object or Array to a function using the ICallBackEventHandler (RaisCallbackEvent)? It allows for a string argument only, if you change it to another datatype it error out. Sample Below...
I have a gridview, which on the row data bound method that inserts a row when comparing values on a particular field. If the two values are different, a new row is inserted, if not no row is inserted. This coding is working as a grouping gridview, and is working correctly. However, I have problem, and problem is counting the rows between each group, which I want to display in my blank row between each group, the value of which I am holding in a hiddenfield.
When I try to do it, the first group doesn't show the result, but is displayed on the next group. I am pretty sure that I am doing something wrong. My approach is that if the value between the last row and the existing row are different, then the value is one, on the next row data bound event, if the values are the same then the value is increased by one, else the value is one because it is a new group. Here is my code:

I want to create one web application in which I will click on cell of a gridview after that one javascript file will be called that will again call a asp.net web page
I tried to pass a string value into a JavaScript function like below: <%= "'" + prop.property_description + "'") %>) But it does not seems to be the best option, is there a better way to do the above without concatenate the string values with "'"?

I have a page, which contains 2 textboxes. When i click on the first textbox, i have to open a child window (tool), that contains a gridview control with 2 columns (corresponding to the 2 textboxes). If the gridview binds to empty dataset, I need to still show a gridview so that users can ADD more using the textfields in the bottom of the footer template. Since the gridview is empty it won't bind not allowing rendering of the <footer template> I guess I should create a empty dataset if the gridview is empty. How do I check for this and can this be done in GridviewRowEventArgs
