Forms Data Controls :: Passing Repeater Container.dataitem To JavaScript Function?

Sep 16, 2010

I am collecting user roles into a single dimension string array.

I have a repeater that its source set to that array. The repeater template includes list of checkboxes for the values in the array. The checkbox text is set to: Text='<%# Container.DataItem %>'

All is good till this point.

But I am trying to call a javascript function triggered by clickign a checkbox and pass it the container.dataitem, but the javascript doesn't seem to be reading the value and either complain about string not being in correct format or that treats the container.dataitem as a liter. This is the trial that didn't work (I tried many different things too):

DetermineVal(<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem) %>);
determineval is my javascript function

Can I do that with a single dimension array?

I would like to pass the GridView row values (Bound Field Values - a record) to a JavaScript function to create another html table of selected records in ClientSide (like jCart-A shopping cart).

I would like to know how to pass all GridView column values to the javascript when the image at the end of the respective row is clicked.

C# - Passing Multiple Command Arguments In An ImageButton Control?

Mar 11, 2011

I'm designing a sort of hierarchical system, as follows:

Contract
Master Commodity
Commodity
Sub-Commodity
Part

Each one of these are on their own page (for now). The user starts out on the Contract.aspx page. If they want to see the Master Commodities for the contract they are currently on, they will click the "ImageButton" I have set up, and I pass in as a command argument the ContractID (CommandArgument='<%# Eval("ContractID")%>'). This works great- I get to my Master Commodity page with the Master Commodities filtered on the ContractID I passed in.

Here's my problem: Navigating from the Master Commodity page to the Commodity page will (I think) require passing in the ContractID (so we JUST see stuff for the contract we're on), AND the Master Commodity ID (so we JUST see the Commodities that are related to the Master Commodity). I've tried the following: CommandArgument='<%# Eval("ContractID") + ',' + Eval("MComID")%>', but as you could probably expect, that doesn't work. If I can just do something like above and have a delimiter like the comma, I can go from there and make it work.

JQuery Ajax With MVC Action - Passing Arguments From JavaScript In POST

Mar 4, 2011

I have an ASP.NET MVC controller action with the following VB.NET signature:

<HttpPost()>
Public Function ClosestCities
(ByVal position As MapCoordinate, ByVal citiesCount As UInteger) As JsonResult

The MapCordinate class is:

Public Class MapCoordinate
Public Latitude As Double
Public Longitude As Double
End Class

If I'm trying to send an Ajax POST in jQuery to the ClosestCities action, what should my request look like?

When I use the following code to POST to this action, in the debugger window of VS, position.longitiude and position.latitude are equal to 0.0 (0D):

Forms Data Controls :: Procedure Or Function SubmitVendor3DItem Has Too Many Arguments Specified

Mar 2, 2010

I am using Visual Studio 2005, and VB.NET. I am using a FormView. I have the default mode set to Insert. I fill out the info and click on the Add button and get this error. I have turned Trace on in the page and written suggested code to output the parameters. The parameters exactly match those in the stored procedure in SQL Server 2005. They are even in the same order.

This is my second attempt. First I had the FormView in normal mode. But there are no records yet and I was getting errors due to that. I tried the EmptyData template to no avail. So I decided to make a page that is only for adding new records. I removed the Select template. I have seen posts elsewhere for this error, but they all are concerning the use of a GridView, which I'm not using for this. I am really confused (not the first time). Is the lack of the Select template a problem? When it was still there it was still giving this error. The select statement had the same parameters. The first parameter is a Control parameter, value taken from a hidden field on the form. This worked for another FormView on a different page, so I'm really confused why I can't get this to work.

Forms Data Controls :: Procedure Or Function Has Too Many Arguments Specified - Updates Orderhistory

Aug 6, 2010

I have a stored procedure that updates orderhistory. When I test it from Enterprise Manager, that sucker works fine. But when accessing it from asp.net I get the following error... Procedure or function sp_UpdateOrderHistory has too many arguments specified. From my aspx page I created a gridview, enabled editing, deleted the columns I didn't want displayed. I specified the datasource, pointing at the sp for updating. So far so good..

I can click on Edit, and the edit fields are shown, but when I click UPDATE, the above error is generated. I've checked the sp parameters and they match (as far as I can tell) the update paramters in the page. Not sure why this is failing to update?

[Code]....

Here's the stored procedure...

Forms Data Controls :: Passing Querystring Value Into Gridview / Listview

Sep 13, 2010

I have a master-detail page consisting of a databound GridView and ListView. It's pretty standard - when you select a row in the GridView is shows up the ListView. The problem I'm running into is when I want to link to that page with a specific row pre-selected in both views. It seems like it should be easy enough, but I just can't figure it out. Currently, the ListView is connected to the GridView with a ControlParameter in the SelectCommand.

AJAX :: Passing Arguments Between Two Forms Using Jquery?

Oct 27, 2010

I tried using Ajax & Jquery for the following need, but not able to do...

I have Two Forms StringMain.aspx & Returner.aspx.... I have created 4 Divs at StringMain.aspx and a sample text "ToCheck" at First Div.. In the Returner.aspx form page load, i placed a label like this

I have set StringMain.aspx as default running page. So When i run StringMain.Aspx page,

the text i placed in the First Div "To Check" should concat with the label Text "hello" of Returner.aspx and display it together in the First Div of StringMain.aspx like this

"To Check hello"..

The Technique i used is

$("div#First-Div").load(" Returner.aspx");--But dint work...

Forms Data Controls :: Syntax For Passing ListView Data To SQL Input Parameters?

Dec 11, 2010

I have a ListView displaying data from Table A using a SqlDataSource.

I want to take the displayed data (and these are just the standard columns representing fields in Table A) and store them in Table B using a Stored Procedure

(The scenario is much more complex but I've left out anything not relating to this exact problem).

I've added a Button to the ListViews ItemTemplate and I'm using OnItemCommand to create a Sub for its "Click" in the Code Behind.

This is a simplified chunk of the SQL I'm using to insert the ListView's fields into Table B using the Stored Procedure "InsertCart":

[Code]....

Where I've highlighted "Description" in the last line. In a GridView, this would be enough. Description is a Column name in Table A and B and iy's an Item in the ListView. But I'm realising that, with ListView's, the data binding is not as "automatic" as a GridView. Just using the columnname is not enough.

What do I use instead of the word Description to reference this column in the Parameter?
