I have a GridView with two templatefields, one with a DropDownList and the other with a TextBox, both loose their values once I hit the "update" button. Is it any way I can make the controls keep the values?

I have a text box placed inside a gridview(template) . I need to update its value by a dropdown list event (Selected Item Changed event) placed in the same gridVew. But The problem is that , I need to update the text box of the same row the dropdown list (whose textChange Event haas been fired)

I've been searching all day for a solution to this, but nothing has worked.
Here's my scenario: I'm binding the gridview to a datatable. One of the columns is a textbox that will accept user input.
When a "submit" button is clicked, I need to loop through all the rows, get the textbox's text, and add them all together. Simple, right?

The txtDays.Text property is ALWAYS empty. UNLESS I assign it a value w/in the control. But then it's ALWAYS that value. I need to get the value of what the user enters.

It basically is 4 questions with each answer assigned a value.
What I would like to do is when the button is clicked the selected values are retrieved and calculated to give a total.
That total is then compared against some common totals and the next value is shown.
So is the total is 8= Very Good, 6= Very Bad, 4= Terrible etc.
The two labels Result and Truth would sho the numerical result and the truth according to the scale.
I am at a loss on how to retrieve the list button clicked value, how to add them up and referance that to the Truth result.

When I click on download link button which has the path of the file stored on the gridview how to pass only the filename to the query string... like for example URL....presentation. pdf is the file name and it will be displayed with the path stored on the gridview.. I am using ListView for the first time. I have a requirement that in a listview if I Edit a record and before clicking teh Edit button of tthis record if i click on the "Edit" button in other record, my first record should be saved and second record should open in Edit mode.

And once i check any check box and assign , automatically the checked row vanished from my grid view.

Strange problem, not sure why it's happening. Basically I have inside an UpdatePanel a dropdownlist, a textbox, and a regex validator. page loads, ddl is bound and then based on the value in the ddl, a different regex is applied to the textbox. DDL could have search by "date" (with date regex), "last name" (with az regex), or "zip code" (with a zip regex). This way one search box can be used with 3 different regexes. Select zip code in the ddl, the OnSelectedIndexChanged is fired and the new regex is applied to the textbox. Simple.
The problem is, though, is that the page loads, I select Zip Code in the DDL, type in a zip code and then tab out NOT clicking the search button, and as soon as I do the regex validator fires with the red *. I wait about 2-3 seconds and it appears there's a postback that's fired somewhere because the textbox gets cleared out. Here's the update panel.

There is nothing in the code-behind that causes any postback except the dropdown list that applies the appropriate regex to the textbox.I see no reason why after 2-3 seconds the textbox gets emptied out. Is there a way to stop this?
i am using vs2008. 1/ i am placed a datagrid control, a textbox and a server side button are inside the CollapsiblePanelExtender.
2/ The collapsible panel Extender placed inside the updatepanel.
3/ outside of updatepanel i have another button("next page") to redirect to next page.
When the page is loading, i am displaying all the records in datagrid. For an example 100 rocords. if i entered some values in textbox and click the button it fetches searching result based on inputs and displaying it in datagrid (for example searched result 20).
Now, I click the button "next page" it redirect to next page. if the user click the browser back button, i need to keep the datagrid to show only searched result. but Instead of that, it displaying all the records(100 records). how to resolve this?
