Forms Data Controls :: Treeview Populated On Demand To Show The File System - Specifying The Root?
Sep 15, 2010
I am trying to simulate the file system like explorer using a treeview. I would like to have the application in the server but is the starting root limited to where the application is? Is it possible to have a certain directory in the server to be the starting node? I would like to be able to set a starting node in the config.

the problem is actually in the subject. I have custom control that uses treeview. The control is added dynamically. Nodes for this treeview are populated on demand. Treeview nodes can be checked. I recreate this control on page load event, but still CheckedNodes is empty if checked nodes were added dynamically (added on demand).

not quite sure where I'm going wrong here. I'm trying to manually handle sorting in a Gridview that is populated with the following data source:
[Code]....
[Code]....
[Code]....
At the moment, nothing is happening when I click on the column headings. I ran it in debugging mode in Visual Studio and put a breakpoint on the Sorting event handler. I noticed that the variable dtSortTable is empty even after the TryCast(VacanciesGV.DataSource, DataTable). If I hover over this statement in debugging, it shows the data from the file system, so it does appear to be reading it.

I'm very new to xml so I hope I'm not asking any silly question here. I'm currently working on populating a treeview from an XML file that is not hierarchically structured. In the xml file that I was given the child and parent nodes are defined within the attributes of the item element. How would I be able to utilize the attributes in order for the treeview to populate in the right hierarchical order. (Example Mary Jane should be a child node of Peter Smith). At present all names are under one another.root

/root

I have a large XML file (3000+ nodes) that I want to represent in a TreeView on ASP.NET. I cannot databind it to a XMLDataSource because loading the TreeView will then be way too slow (I never even waited long enough to see it finish...)
So the solution for this would be to use the PopulateOnDemand property of the TreeNodes to load data only when needed. Problem is, I can't think of a way to acheive this...
How can-I, based on the ID of a node, search a XMLDocument to get all the childnodes of the node having this ID?
XML would look like that:
<document ID=1>
<document ID=2>
<document ID=3>
</document>
</document>
<document ID=4>
</document>
</document>
There are nor rules on how much levels it can go down or anything...

Periodically a rash of occurrences of the following error happen. I believe they're the result of hack attempts. Whether that's the case or not, my question is how can I handle the error? I want to avoid unhandled exceptions. The TreeView control is just
a standard .Net TreeView control, not a custom one. If you suggest a code solution, please code it in VB.Net as that's what I'm using.

I am writing a programming using Tree View. I have created the Tree View object and have added a node for the root called Favorites. I want the user to be able to enter a value in a text box and once clicking on an add folder button, an event fires that takes the text that was entered in the textbox and creates a new node under the root node of favorites.
I am having a problem with my program in that the user is not able to click on the Favorites root note in order to create another node underneath of it. Favorites is simply displaying on the screen, but they cannot click on it to select it. What do I need to add so that the user can select the node to which they want to add a child node to?

I ran into the following issue when trying to run a test website on IIS 7.5 (Windows Server 2008 R2 DatacenterEdition). The web-app is configured to run with framework version 3.5 in a .Net 2.0 app pool. Also the framework 4.0 beta 2 is installed on the server. The application named 'TestPfade' is located under the website's root named 'Default'. It is not only a virtual directory but defined as an application. The folder structure looks like this: The markup of the sole document reads as follows:
[Code]....
When viewed in a browser the image gets shown because the given relative path is correctly resolved to 'images/Lighthouse.jpg' but the paths to the ajax-framework resources also include the application's root folder and therefor aren't found: 'src="/TestPfade/WebResource.axd?d=1bX...' Here is the complete html-source generated:
[Code]....

using System.Configuration;
using System.Data;
using System.Linq;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.Security;
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts;
using System.Xml.Linq;
using Oracle.DataAccess.Client; // ODP.NET Oracle managed provider
using Oracle.DataAccess.Types;
namespace MyTestApp {
public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page {
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) {
OracleConnection conn = new OracleConnection("User Id=UID; Password=PWD; Data Source=XE; Pooling=false"); try { conn.Open(); } catch ( OracleException oe ){
Console.WriteLine("ERROR : " + oe.Message); }
if ( !Page.IsPostBack ) {
if (conn.State == ConnectionState.Open) {
// get data GetMoleculesToShow(conn); } }
// clean up connection conn.Dispose(); }
static void GetMoleculesToShow( OracleConnection conn ){
String division; String rxotc; String molecule_name;
String prodnum; String proddesc; String molecule_class; String nonactive;
// create command object and set attributes
OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand("schema.package.procedure", conn);
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
//Bind values
cmd.Parameters.Add("mol_to_show_cur", OracleDbType.RefCursor);
cmd.Parameters[0].Direction = ParameterDirection.Output; try {
// Execute command, have parameters populated cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
// Create OracleDataAdapter, data provider object to populate dataset
OracleDataAdapter da = new OracleDataAdapter(cmd);
//Populate dataset with "molrefcur"
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
da.Fill(ds, "mol_to_show_cur", (OracleRefCursor)(cmd.Parameters["mol_to_show_cur"].Value));
//Verify dataset is begin populated //DataTable dt = ds.Tables[0];
//foreach ( DataRow dr in ds.Tables[0].Rows ) //{
// division = dr["division"].ToString();
// rxotc = dr["rxotc"].ToString();
// molecule_name = dr["molecule_name"].ToString();
// prodnum = dr["prodnum"].ToString();
// proddesc = dr["proddesc"].ToString();
// molecule_class = dr["molecule_class"].ToString();
// nonactive = dr["nonactive"].ToString(); //}
if (ds.Tables[0].Rows.Count != 0) {
// display dataset values GridView gvMolecules = new GridView();
gvMolecules.DataSource = ds.Tables["mol_to_show_cur"].Rows;
gvMolecules.DataBind(); } }
catch (OracleException oe) {
Console.WriteLine("ERROR : " + oe.Message); }
finally { cmd.Dispose(); } } } }
The dataset is being populated, however when the page renders, the data nor the gridview are visible. I have tried using both IE and Firefox, binding / not binding the columns, AutoGenerateColumns Y / N with no success. As I am new to all of this ( VS2008, ASP.NET, C# ) I can't help but to think I am overlooking something basic.
I am using the following :
- VS 2008
- MS Vista SP2
- Oracle XE ( local )
