I'd like to pull several NewValues from a FormView and write them to a database as part of the Update command.For some reason, I am unable to do this using the following code. Is there something I am missing?

How specify input parameters to UpdateCommand
View 3 RepliesI'm making an Online quiz website using ASP.NET and am using a FormView to display the questions to the user and am using Radio Buttons for the choices.
1. How to store the choices that the user selects for the questions so that I can do the scoring at the end of the test ?
2. At the Quiz page, I'd like the user to know the questions he has attempted and those that he hasn't. How shall that be done?
I've always understood that it was best practice to add event handlers in code in the page load event thus:
Button1.Attributes.Add("onclick", "alert('Hello');");
rather than "onclientclick=somefunction()"
My question is, how do you add event handlers to formview controls where the control(s) may only be on the edit template and not on the insert and read only templates.
Simply putting the code in the page load would produce an error.
Where should the statement be placed in such scenarios?
I have a problem with a GridView control.I am using the UpdateCommand but the new value is not being stored. If I hard-code in the value to the aspx page it works fine but not if I pass the parameter.The value I am trying to update is called "PC_NAME" an it is an integer.

Is it possible to add a date time picker to my form view? I use the form view to insert new records into a gridview connected to a Access database.

Using the code below, I am able to load my dynamic dropdownlist and supply it's selectedindex. But when I fire the update command I can see that the information displayed has been lost.

So I've been teaching myself ASP.NET and VB for about 3 weeks now, having trouble with datatables, not sure how to get the rows to line up like I think they should. My code:

Which gives me the data output I want, but the days are adding rows underneath the previous day instead of lining up side-by-side. The idea is that once it's working I'll replace the specific dates with calendar controls. The gridview currently outputs like this:

I am using ASP.NET 2.0 and C#, SQL Server 2005. I am passing parameter to a stored procedure. The parameter is the ProductId. I have 3 types of productId. ProductId 11,0,12.
If the ProductId is zero, I want to pass the productId as 11 to the parameter.

I have a page with a FormView on it. The page is strictly for adding records to a Table. I have the FormView bound to an EntityDataSource and everything works greate except for one thing.
I want to initialize a date field in the FormView to today's date. So, in my page_load event I have:

The first time this page loads, the txtSetupDate field is initialized.
Although, and subsequent loads of the page doesn't initialize the Text Box. I step through the code in the debugger and I can see that the code is executig, but something (the FormView bind?) is "clearing" the Text Box.

So i've found out that i could use pivots to do this, but am having some trouble getting it to work, so if you know how to do this.
I've a form view with various field in edit and an object datasource where I've defined my update parameters that my update method takes. I've set some of the fields in the edit template to read only because I want them to display.
Unfortunately they are getting passed in as update parameters somehow to my objectdatasource.
So, it is generating update parameters that causes my method to not match.
How can I exclude these parameters from getting sent to update?
I have a GridView and I want to add some more parameters to the DataSource. One of the parameters is called symbols and is a DataTable, and I'm not sure how to add it. Here's my GridView:

I did try and bind the data myself and removing the ObjectDataSource entirely but then the sorting and paging events weren't handled.
I am using ODBC command and adding parameters to it. But it always keeps on saying procedure proc_Update expects a parameters @id which was not supplies ( this errors comes for all the paramters that I add).

I have a stored procedure which handles a SELECT query on an SQL 2005 table. Works fine. Now I need to add a bunch of parameters to the query--these are all boolean, with checkbox web controls on the .aspx page to set the parameters true or false, and bit columns in the SQL table. These parameters need to be optional, so that parameter doesn't filter out any records unless it's checked. Here's the original sproc:

I use the sqldatasource control a lot with stored procedures. But this time I'm using some code I found online where I am defining the new sqldatasource in the code and using it. You can see this below. I am getting a NullReferenceException on the first SelectParameters line and not sure why. Do I need to add the parameters different?

I have a gridview databound to an objectdatasource. Everything worked great until I changed 2 columns from asp:BoundField to asp:TemplateField. These are the UPC column and the Part column. I wanted to show a link button for each of these fields that take the user to another page. Now asp.net expects these two fields to be parameters on the update store procedure. Why is this? How do I get it to not assume these columns need to be passed to the store procedure?
