I'm making an Online quiz website using ASP.NET and am using a FormView to display the questions to the user and am using Radio Buttons for the choices.
1. How to store the choices that the user selects for the questions so that I can do the scoring at the end of the test ?
2. At the Quiz page, I'd like the user to know the questions he has attempted and those that he hasn't. How shall that be done?
i am using asp:pager to do paging for datalist... i have successfully implemented it but the problem is that he is showing all the page nos at one time instead of that i want to show 10 pages at a time then user goes on the last page then next 10 pages should show...
View 3 RepliesRecently according to page design I need to put Grid View pager control outside the grid control itself. The project is working under Visual Studio 2005. DataPager Control is not there yet and even if it was by default it could not be used with GridView.
So I write following code I want to share:

It works fine with IE6 version. You can insert, update, sort and page through the grid.
The only thing that pager needs to be visible even if number of records < than Page Size. If not the pager would not be be seen when page is post back inserting new records with total number more than Page Size.
I'd like to pull several NewValues from a FormView and write them to a database as part of the Update command.For some reason, I am unable to do this using the following code. Is there something I am missing?

I've always understood that it was best practice to add event handlers in code in the page load event thus:
Button1.Attributes.Add("onclick", "alert('Hello');");
rather than "onclientclick=somefunction()"
My question is, how do you add event handlers to formview controls where the control(s) may only be on the edit template and not on the insert and read only templates.
Simply putting the code in the page load would produce an error.
Where should the statement be placed in such scenarios?
i have the following scenario: one formview. when in editmode there is a child formview linked to the other by a column value. i need to take the value of one of the values of parent formview controls and set it to a textbox of child formview in insert mode. I wish to know which event should I use in codebehind to bind both controls? (that escenario will have paging and must keep the binding as if it was master detail)
View 9 RepliesI'm customizing a NopCommerce store, and am using a gridview to display and sort the products. All that works well. I like how the external pager (user control) works with the gridview, with one exception -- it uses the hyperlink control, so I lost viewstate, which I need to retain for both the search page and to retain the gridview sort options. Based on the page selected (from the pager control), I query the database and rebind the gridview. So, I switched the user control to use LinkButtons instead of Hyperlinks. I set a breakpoint inside the lbCommandClick method, but it never gets hit. Reading other posts tells me that I would have to add the dynamic controls in the OnLoad method, but since this all happens based on other data on the page (say search results), I don't think I can do it onLoad. However, the link buttons do work to cause a postback, and my viewstate is saved correctly. The only problem is that I do not know which button was clicked. I could check Request.Params["__EVENTTARGET"] onLoad, but that is kind of a hack -- I'd much rather be able to set the event handler in the user control and use the CommandArgument property. But, what I have tried so far fails.
Especially one that would allow me to set the EventHandler in the User Control? (e.g. OnlbCommand="PagerLBPageChange" )
Is it possible to add a date time picker to my form view? I use the form view to insert new records into a gridview connected to a Access database.
PS this is on a webpage don't know if that makes a difference
I am using a form view control which has two binded textbox. Now at this level it works fine and the textboxes show the values from database. But when i insert a panel inside the form view and move these two textboxes inside the panel, they dont show any values. What could be the reason for this?
View 2 RepliesI am attempting to show/hide a control (txtInpatientType) when a user views individual records on a FormView (frmData) depending on the value stored in another control (txtPatientType). For example, if txtPatientType.Text = "Inpatient" then txtInpatientType.Visible needs to be True. Very simple code follows.

txtPatietType and txtInpatientType are both ReadOnly. txtInpatientType.Visible = false by default.
I have a formview with an insert item template. I have added two dropdown controls that are databound to two different database tables to this insert template. However, when I click the 'InsertQuery' for the Accessdatasource neither of these controls are available as 'Parameter source options'.Out of interest, if I take these dropdown controls out of the formview and put them on the page they then become available to use.

Underneath the FormView is a GridView that shows all data from the SelectedDate on the calendar control. However, when the date is selected, all the information from the table ( from all dates ) is displayed.

My C# codebehind contains a "selected_index changed event to grab the values from any of the modified FormView controls. My problem is that it is not picking up the selected radio button. I have a dropdown in the InsertItemTemplate of a FormView that I need to add code to it's SelectedIndexChanged property, however I can't seem to find any way to do this.
For example, if the dropdown was not in the FormView I would simply use...

...but because it's inside the FormView I can't use the above.

View 2 RepliesI am doing a library application. I am using a formview control to display and edit the details of an existing borrower.
What I wish to do is to allow the user to enter the borrower barcode into a textbox and select the details of the borrower corresponding to the barcode.
At present I have kept the textbox and a button outside the formview. Once the user enters the barcode in the texbox and clicks the button, the data is displayed in the formview control.
Now, my doubt is that is there a way to keep the textbox inside the formview control itself and use the value(Which should be user input) for selecting the details?
