Forms Data Controls :: Unable To Validate GridView Items In Wizard Control?
Mar 18, 2010
I'm trying to validate that a GridView logated in one of the steps of the Wizard Control is populated by the user before the Next button is clicked. What I mean is that I need to block Next (or Prev) button until the user populates a gridview, once the gridview has at least one element then enable the (Next/Prev) buttons. How can I enable/disable Next/Prev buttons within a specific step?.
I am unable to find any control in row editing event of gridview that i have put in edit template. I have to populate the dropdown control so that in editing the user can select value from the control.
How ever i can access the controls in row updating .But i need it in row editing event.
I am trying to hide 2 buttons depending on the value in the dropdownlist. It works when the page is initially loaded but chokes when returning to the page sometimes. I have some pretty simple code in the Page_Load event within an If Not Page.IsPostBack statement
I've got the problem with a simple e-mail form, it uses the simple.aspx and ASPEMAILLib.dll from the persits aspemail installation. The application is hosted on IIS 7, the application pool is a .NET 1.1. I followed the guide on http://blogs.iis.net/bills/archive/2008/06/02/installing-asp-net-1-1-with-iis7-on-vista-and-windows-2008.aspx
Is there a way to access the updated text property of a TextBox which is inside a GridView cell when a Wizard controls next or previous buttons are clicked? I have a requirement to not use the edit and/or update buttons on the GridView row. Therefore, I am trying to figure out a way of grabbing the updated values of each TextBox of the GridView on the PostBack. Furthermore, these controls (i.e. Wizard and GridView) are within an AJAX UserControl.
I'm using Wizard control to collect some information. I have Repeater control in my Wizard control. when client inputs information and clicks next button he gets to next WizardStep, thou from next step when client clicks previous button and navigates to previous step Repeater control's input fields are empty. How can I store client input so when he will navigate back he could see previously added information. I don't want to use any client or server side session management techniques, because I think viewstate is enough. I think my problem is I don't bind Repeater control in a right place, besides, all the controls inside my Repeater control are loading dynamically.
when i am trying to use a repeater to display data in a wizard control, everything seems worked as expected before i change the value of wizard's DisplaySideBar, here is my demo code:Test.aspx:
[Code]....
Test.aspx.cs:
[Code]....
guys who intrest on this you can copy this code and test it on your pc, when we click the link button in repeater's item will do nothing at the first time but it will work when we click it again.i have debug this and found that when the page is not in post back, the linkbutton's id will be "MainWizard_rpMain_ctl01 _lbEdit" in prerender method but after render it will change to "MainWizard_rpMain_ctl04 _lbEdit", but when page have been post back, the clientid will be correct as "MainWizard_rpMain_ctl01_lbEdit" and then event can be fired correctly.i thought this is a bug of .net framework, when i set the value of wizard's DisplaySideBar, it will ask to re-create controls but repeater haven't clean the item's count and then recreate item will use wrong item index, i hope this message can be post to .net framework team and they can find out what's the matter on it.
here's a situation and I would appreciate your response.
I have programmatically created the Wizard control:
Page_Load(obj s, evargs e) { Wizard ClaimDetailWizard = new Wizard(); foreach(int item in selectedItems) { //create new step //added custom control to new step //add step to wizard } //added wizard to a placeholder on a page }
Based on List I get from Session i added new steps to my wizard To each step I had added a custom control
Each custom control in tern contains another custom Gridview Control in it.
So here's the problem when the page loads for example for two steps. All is good Wizard does what it's supposed to do.
But when I try to use sorting or paging in that custom Gridview. Somehow it displays the gridview I should see in the next step of the wizard.
Also what I'm noticing through debugging. Is that when I press next in the wizard I go back to the original page where I do all of the code specified above, and it recreates the wizzard. But it goes to the next step. Is this the way wizard supposed to work? Just doesn't seem very efficient.
I am trying to validate data using the OnItemUpdating event on a FormView control. The event is fired when I click the update button but
e.OldValues["txtDate2"].ToString() in the function returns a null value. What am I doing wrong here ? ValidateForm(Object sender, FormViewUpdateEventArgs e) { string val = e.OldValues["txtDate2"].ToString(); }
I have a Gridview on my aspx and i wonder if i can use validators like requiredfieldvalidator, comparevalidator or etc to validate a row is added or NOT?
I'm getting "Unable to validate data" in a webfarm scenario but not all the time. I'm getting it about on AVERAGE 1x or 2x per hour but fairly random. All of the causes of this error that I know of are list below:achinekey in the machine.config (or web.config) not set the same in a web farm scenario. Mine are set the same in the machine.config.A page is submitted after a server recycle and the machinekey is set to auto. I'm using a static key which should
I have an asp:wizard control that contains five WizardSteps. All of these steps have form controls, and most of these controls have validators. When the user steps through the wizard with the next and previous buttons everything is working great, and validation triggers as it should. However, if the user chooses to navigate the wizard using the links in the SideBar, he or she could skip some of the steps. When the last page is submitted (which is a summary page) there might be controls in the wizard that are invalid.
What I want to do is to check the state of all controls (or run all validators) when the user clicks the finish button, or when the user enters the summary page. I have made an attempt to run all the validators in the FinishButtonClick event by doing this:
[code]....
But when I do this every validator claims that they are valid. I have also tried to set all controls to Visible = true; prior to this code block, but this has no effect. what could be wrong? Or is it a better way of doing this, maybe a native function to the wizard control that I'm missing?
I need to validate and read edited values from a gridview. Here is the scenario,I have a gridview which has two columns Iteam name and Item Rate. Number of rows are dynamic depending on the user. I get the Text boxes filled with DB data.
I need to do this,
1) Validate if the user has entered numeric using front end validation
2) Read the edited values by user for each row and insert into the database in server side
- I have a GridView , I want add a row FooterTemplate to add a new record in GridView . But I want to validate TextBoxs in FooterTemplate. My language I using is C# , Web Form .
I have created the tables and the stored procedures in SQL 2008.
In VS 2008, I created DataSet1.xsd in App_Code and created the connectionString in web.config file.
Then when I go into the DataSet1.xsd and try to add a TableAdapter, strange things happened.
First I chose the data connection, then selected "Use existing stored procedure", then there was nothing listed in the dropdownlists (in Select, Insert, Update, or Delete).
I'm sure the connectionString is correct because if I choose "Use SQL statement" and type in a "select * from mytable1", the TableAdapter can be created without any problem.
How to validate user entry to cell in GridView and replace the cell value on the other column?
Ex :
i have a gridview with 2 columns (A & B), on both columns i change it to TemplateField (TextBox).
Now on whatever row on column A, i want to validate the user entry when user leave the cell, how to achieve that ?
Based on user entry on column A, i will do some data lookup and get a value returned from the server, how to tell the gridview to replace the value on column B (on the same row) based on the value returned from the server.
I am working with VWD Express and Visual Basic. take this into consideration if you are willing to answer my question. I do have the following code for a GridView.
As you can see the second cell in each row is a EditButton, and the only cell that could be updated by users is the last one, DataField = TUDTIThreadActualStatus. I just want to know what could be the easiest way to validate the user entry when the row is in edit mode. Is there anyway to validate the textbox control with a validation control or is better to used code behind. Either way may you explain and drop some code if posible.
I am using a gridview that contains an asp:fileupload so that when the user clicks 'edit' they can upload a pdf. I need to validate the size of the file, it needs to be less then a certain size. I tried to use a custom validator, but it never get called when the user updates. How can I validate the file size on edit in the gridview?
i'am trying to validate a DateTimePicker inside a gridview ( it's actually an ItemEditTemplate) i'am trying to use a compareValidator Because i have two columns startDate and endDate this sounds to be easy but the validator cannot find the item startDate because it's in another column is there a way to do it whithout having it done on the client side using javascript .
