Forms Data Controls :: Binding Same Data Table To Combo Box And List Box On The WindowsForm Load?
Mar 9, 2010
I am binding same data Table to Combo box and List Box on the WindowsForm Load.
When I select a value in Combo box automatically that value is also getting selected in List Box and same thing when I select a value in List Box that value is also getting selected in Combo Box.
Selection should be only for that particular control, how can I achieve this ?

I'm a bit of an ASP.NET newbie and I am creating a data table in memory and binding this to a gridview control. The code is as follows:
Dim DstBasket As New DataSet, TblBasket As New DataTable
With TblBasket
.Columns.Add("BskPrdCd", System.Type.GetType("System.String"))
.Columns.Add("BskPrdDesc", System.Type.GetType("System.String"))
.Columns.Add("BskQty", System.Type.GetType("System.Int16"))
.LoadDataRow(Split("12345,Test product 1,1", ","), True)
.LoadDataRow(Split("122,Test product 2,2", ","), True)
.LoadDataRow(Split("123A,Test product 3,5", ","), True)
.LoadDataRow(Split("44,Test product 4,1", ","), True)
End With
DstBasket.Tables.Add(TblBasket)
With LfnGridView("GdvBasket")
.DataSource = DstBasket
.DataBind()
End With
The data displays in the gridview control fine with both edit & delete options but when I attempt to delete, it has no effect. How do I force removal of the relevant row from both gridview and table? Most of the documentation I have unearthed shows how to achieve this when connected to a SQL table which is clearly not the case here.

Am using datalist to create a kinsd of message board, in the back end am having two tables one for the parent comment , and other for the child comments
The data source is extracted by LINQ to SQL with the load option , so I get everthing when I debug on the code behind , and I can see all the fields each parent comment and the child comments.
the problem is with binding the data on the disply for example all the parent table fildes can be rendred without any problems:
<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "comment1Parent") %>; "showing me the orginal post"
Problem here:
<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Childcomment") %> is not rendred and I got this error msg:
DataBinding: 'DataAccessLayer.Comment' does not contain a property with the name 'childComment'.
In the debug I navigate to the childComment and this is its HTML visualisar:
new System.Linq.SystemCore_EnumerableDebugView<DataAccessLayer.Comment>(((ASP.usercontrols_comments_ascx)this).Comments)).Items[0]._comments_Replies.entities.items[0].childComment
I tried
<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "_comments_Replies.childcomment")
Same as above error came to me.

I have a datasource (quite heavy to run) and a Gridview on the page.
By default when the page is loaded the datasource and Gridview bind and display. However since the datasource is heavy I want on page load these 2 will not bind.
I want them to bind only on a button click. How to stop the datasource and Gridview from binding on 1st page load ?

I have a form in which I have a dropdown list and a list box.
This dropdownlist is populated by a column in thetable . This drop down list may have values ranging from 1 to 5.
This values in the dropdownlist are to be made the caption headings of the list view control.
For insance if there are three values in the dropdown there should be three columns in the list box with the heading as the values of the dropdownlist.for 5 it should be 5.
Also there are two additional columns which would be constant.

MenuItem menus = new MenuItem();
GridView1.DataSource = menus.GetDataTable();
GridView1.DataBind();
menus.GetDataTable() returns a DataTable. In the above case, we are returning to GridView. I need to populate the data into a combo box. How can i do it?
NOTE: Assume GetDataTable only returns records of a single column. I'm using Winforms

I have come from MS Access and am working through a couple of textbooks on ASP.NET 4. I am using the Gridview control connected to an SQL data source control.
As an exercise I am converting my simpliest MS Access page which is simple a form to request a new stock item in our engineering stores. I have a normalised table called [stock_requests] and part of this is a field calle [failure_mode]. This field is an integer and there is another table listing the possible values for this field.
This other table is called [failure_modes] and has two field:
[id] < the primary key
[mode] < the text to be displayed
In my main table [stock_requests] in the field [failure_mode] I store the [id] from the [failure_modes] table for the applicable record in the [failure_modes] table. So for example if someone wanted to select "Catastrophic" as the failure mode the [stock_requests].[failure_mode] field would be 1; if the user selected "Gradual" as the failure mode the [stock_requests].[failure_mode] field would be 2 etc.
Now, the gridview wants to display "1" or "2" but I want to display "gradual" or "catastrophic" without using views and all the headaches that brings. I have managed to sort out editting by using a templated field where I have a drop down list in this cell and I databind to a second SQL data source (imaginatively called SqlDataSource2).
what is the best method for displaying the text 'Catastophic' or 'Gradual' etc. when in normal mode (view mode)? Is it another templated field and what is the basic approach I should use? I reckon I should be able to work it out once someone points me in the right direction.

I have a List<string> that I want to use as a datasource for the gridview, making the column a HyperlinkField type and passing the value clicked in the column in the url. My code:
private void DoBind(GridView grid, List<string> Accounts)
{
Hyperlinkfield field = new HyperlinkField();
field.DataNavigateUrlFields = Accounts.ToArray();
field.DataNavigateUrlFormatString = _urlToRedirectFromGrid;
field.DataSource = Accounts;
grid.Columns.Add(field);
grid.AutoGenerateColumns = false;
grid.DataBind();
}
I can't get this to work. The page throws an AJAX null exception when this method is called.

I am attempting to bind a Repeater (but it could be a GridView or ListView) to a list of objects. The List's type is an abstract type, which has two different classes derived from it, both with different properties. Because they have different properties, I cannot just have one ItemTemplate. If I bind a control to a property of one type of class and the other type doesn't have it, it throws an error.
Here's where I'm at:
I cannot use <% if (whatever) { %> some stuff <% } else { %> some other stuff <% } %> because I cannot access the databound item to make the choice based on its type. I cannot use the <%# %> syntax, which lets me use the databound information, because you cannot code logic like if...then...else. I cannot (rather not) call a function and return a string with the code because what I want to render is complex and contains further nested databound controls. Has anyone found an ingenious way of doing if it is this type of object, display these controls, else display these other controls?

I need to bind a List control based on the Gridview Row's datakeyName value while the Gridview control is being loaded into the page. I tried the following but it does not work.The BulletedList control is nested inside a Gridview Control and they both bound to an ObjectDataSource control. In my code, I passed teh UserID into the UserID parameter and call the Select() method but still does not work. Basically, I want to list of a user's hobbies, therefore the hobbies control are driven by the userID. tell me how can I get it to work?

So my drop down list looks like;

And then I have setup a datasource (even though I may get rid of it to bind in the code behind file)

I have a datagrid that populates correctly and a drop down list.
I have a table with (below) and it popluates a drop down and works properly.
UploadFile -- UploadFileTypeID
-Select 0
Images 1
Spreadsheets 2
Documents 3
Inside the datagrid sort command I want an IF statement. But the IF statement I have now doesn't recoginze whats inside the SQL table ( == "Images").
I have this...
[Code]....
From my understanding this if (ddl_Upload.SelectedValue == .... Is only recognized if I would have listed -Select, Images etc as List Items for the drop down???

I have a table named RECIPE which is linked to an other table name RECIPE_STATUS
In RECIPE table I have a field named Status_Id which contains the name of the Status which is fetch from the RECIPE_STATUS table based on this ID.
The RECIPE table sample information are as follow :

2 Free
From an ASP.net page I would like that my user is capable of changing the RECIPE_STATUS from a given recipe. For that I have a DataGrid which is bind to the RECIPE table.
But then what I would like is that the STATUS shown to my user to be the name Locked,Running or free depedning on the Id
How can I bound in my Datagrid the Recipe.Status to be bind to RECIPE_STATUS.Id ?
