I have developed an asp.net application ... I have a textbox where user will enter is name ... I need to check if the name is already exist in the database table column when ever user enter their name with out post back . If user exist mean it should show a msg user already exist .....

I have a GridView on a page for maintainance of the database (mdf). Under this GridView1 I have a FormView1 where I use the ItemInsertTemplate to Insert new rows in my database (which shows the data in GridView1). The first textbox (BIDTextBox) i have on this template, contains text which identify a person. I would like to have a routine which checks if the same value that is entered in the BIDTextBox allready exists in the database. This routine should be fired upon leaving the control BIDTextBox.
I have tried with some stored procedure in my database, but that dosn't seem to do the trick. The most logical to me seems to do a loop thru my table "Ansatte" in my database using sql, selecting any occurence from the field "BID" in my table "Ansatte" that is simillar to the text entered in the BIDTextBox.

Also, i have tried displaying only Category 1, 2 .. which are Link button. When I click these button it shows category list. So here I am facing aproblem that everytime i click these buttons it refreshes my page which is very annoying.
i want to check my collection so i can add a new customer as long as the username does not exist in the collection i do not want 2 customers to be able to have the same username.
i have been trying many different things to try to get this to work but i am not exactly sure what i should be doing I have a aspforum and collection C# class of the list.

May i know how if to update the exist data in Location B ?.Example,from Location A Qty is 10 , transfer Qty to Location B is 5, then Location A is 5. I have a gridview inside update pannel and i enabled sorting for the grid if i click to sort a column it does postback and then the grid doesn't show in anather way i have item template column inside of the grid and i am using a button to call a function ,if i click on this button it do the function but the grid doesn t show after the post back

I am curious of how to handle the autopostback to update 2 and 3 since they are part of the detailsview, there isn't a selected_index_changed event.
I am ok with adding items to them on page load, just not for cascading of them...
I have three identical procedures that are all used to open the contents of a GridView into Excel. One was working fine but the other two were getting a 'RegisterForEventValidation can only be called during Render();' error when attempting to run the form.RenderControl(html) command. The only difference I saw was that the one that was working had the allowsorting value set to 'False' where the other two were set to 'True'. I set the other two to false and they worked. So what is going on here? Why would this cause the error; is the GridView somehow doing a post back and loosing settings when this value is set?

The outer gets the questions and the inner gets the various options as a plain HTML radio buttons. I can't use ASP.NET radio buttons because of a bug with them inside itemtemplates not mutually exclusive http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316495Anyway, so now I need to know the which radio buttons were selected so I can insert the values in the database. In my code behind I am querying a database, retrieving a column of values, and then binding the list to the GridView. My problem is that the radio button that I select is not being persisted on post back. I have tried using an ASP RadioButton rather than an HTML control, but when I do that all of the radio button can be selected at the same time (i.e. like check boxes). how to persist the radio button that is selected in this scenario?

I am looping through all the posted data on my website and grabbing the values, this will then be used later on. The user is going to put 2 radio buttons on the page, one with a correct answer and one with an incorrect answer. I need to know how to see if a Radio Button is checked or not based on the posted data.

I have a big form in which i have almost 10 update panels. some are having updatemode = conditional and others are always. Now by default when that page is opened i only show one dropdownlist.When that project dropdownlist (from which i populate the rest of the elements in my page) value is changed by user it takes long time to load the other elements. Also the other gridview which is also surrounded by update panel and mode in conditional takes long time to show edititemtemplate controls in edit mode.
I am unable to trace the reason behing delay. Few days ago it was working fine and fast but now it is slow.
I have a form for data entry which has a checkbox for featured item.
Only one feature item should exists in the database.
How can I check when doing the insert if another item in the table is a feature item?
I would likt to deactivate the one as feature and activate the new one.
