Forms Data Controls :: Check If Data Exist In Database BEFORE Insert New Item
Dec 3, 2010
I have a GridView on a page for maintainance of the database (mdf). Under this GridView1 I have a FormView1 where I use the ItemInsertTemplate to Insert new rows in my database (which shows the data in GridView1). The first textbox (BIDTextBox) i have on this template, contains text which identify a person. I would like to have a routine which checks if the same value that is entered in the BIDTextBox allready exists in the database. This routine should be fired upon leaving the control BIDTextBox.
I have tried with some stored procedure in my database, but that dosn't seem to do the trick. The most logical to me seems to do a loop thru my table "Ansatte" in my database using sql, selecting any occurence from the field "BID" in my table "Ansatte" that is simillar to the text entered in the BIDTextBox.
I have developed an asp.net application ... I have a textbox where user will enter is name ... I need to check if the name is already exist in the database table column when ever user enter their name with out post back . If user exist mean it should show a msg user already exist .....
I use a ItemDataBound for a repeater.But i use 2 kinds of linq querys to bind it.Some of them has a MerkID, and some doesnt have this item.So its easy i need to do this:
if(e.Item.DataItem.Contains("MerkID"))
{ //Code for linq query 1
} [code]...
So of course the if selection doesnt work, but how can i do that? I already tryed this:
DataRowView drv = (DataRowView)e.Item.DataItem; if (drv.Row.Table.Columns.Contains("MerkID"))
But that doenst work because he cant convert it to a datarowview because its a linq class.So what to do? Right now i use a try and catch, but there are better solutions i guess...
DDL3.Items.Insert(0, new ListItem(" please select ", "0"));
I have button in my page that when user click on it insert data into database
Here when users didn't select Item from dropdownlist it insert "please select" ( text that I define for DDL ) into database but I want when users didn't select Item from database it insert NULL in database....
I have detailed view and a grid view, the DetailedView does the inserting into the Grid view. On my table( Ussing SQL Server), i have a username and year and allocation. What do i do so that when an allocation is given to a user for a year that already exit, it refuses.
I am not using any database for data source.I can enter the some value in text box and the entered value is automatically added in the gridview.How can i validate not adding same item numbers in gridview.And i also calculated grand total for amount column.If i remove any records means how to recalculate current total.Any one can tell solution for this issue.I am waiting for reply ASAP.
URL.... When I wrote this code in other page with different SP It didn't worked correctly I change SP in new SP I used INSERT code instead of UPDATE now when users didn't select Item from ddl3 it insert 'please select' in table these are my code
I have a listview set up in "flow" mode where the existing records are all on an extended page so you can scroll down to any record.
The InsertItem Template is in the first position, making it easy to insert a new record.
And one can scroll down the page to any record, click the edit button and update that record -- nice having everything on one scrollable page.
I am running into a problem with validations. I have validation controls restricting inputs for all the textboxes on the Insert Item template. They work fine. And on Item Inserted I am running a page validation:
Page.Validate() If Not Page.IsValid Then e.Cancel = True End If
which works fine also.
The problem occurs when I scroll down to an existing record, and go to edit it. I have all the same validation constraints on the textboxes for the EditItemTemplate as I have on the InsertItemTemplate. But I cannot successfully do a page validation on updating the record. The code I am using on update is:
Protected Sub LVRentals_ItemUpdating(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListViewUpdateEventArgs) Handles LVRentals.ItemUpdating Page.Validate() If Not Page.IsValid Then e.Cancel = True End If End Sub
This results in a Cancel even if there are no validation errors on the InsertItemTemplate because the Page.Validate() seems to be causing the InsertItemTemplate to think its fields should be filled out also.
Here is the code for a typical entry of the InsertItem Template:
[code]....
All the controls in the Edit Item template are part of ValidationGroup "edit1" and those of the InsertItem Template are part of ValidationGroup "edit2"
How can I get around receiving validation errors on the InsertItem Template when I am trying to validate just the EditItemTemplate when both are present on the page?
i want to check my collection so i can add a new customer as long as the username does not exist in the collection i do not want 2 customers to be able to have the same username.
i have been trying many different things to try to get this to work but i am not exactly sure what i should be doing I have a aspforum and collection C# class of the list.
here is some things that i have tried
CustomerExists() i also have a collection of List<Customers> //HERE IS MY EXISTS METHOD public static Boolean IfCustomerExists(string login) { List<Customer> theGuy = Collections.Customers; bool exist = false; foreach (Customer customer in theGuy)
As following code condition statement show that transfer data from Location A to Location B. May i know how if to update the exist data in Location B ?.Example,from Location A Qty is 10 , transfer Qty to Location B is 5, then Location A is 5. So,How if transfer again from location A qty 2 to Location B. then update the location b qty.
USE [CIMProRPT01] GO /****** Object: StoredProcedure [dbo].[MMSLocTrans_InsertOrUpdate] Script Date: 01/03/2014 13:46:14 ******/ SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO
It sounds pretty simple, but I can't find a way to make it work. I have a FormView with a InsertTemplate where it inserts the current logged in user's UserId and content from a HTMLeditor, and a EditTemplate where it retreives the current logged in UserId and shows content from database in the HTMLeditor.
How can I get it to show EditTemplate if the userId exist in the table, and InsertTemplate if the UserId does not exist in the table?
What I'm trying to do is: I have a listview control on my page and in my code behind, I created an SQLDataSource object which I defined its Select, Delete, Update and Insert Command strings. I then binded that datasource to my listview. When I load the page, it's obvious the select command works. however, when I perform the insert, the ItemInserted event triggers, but the itemInserted doesn't trigger and there is nothing inserted in my database.I'm not sure what to do here. I also hard coded the insert values in my insert command. So it's not depending on the form values.
I got this to populate the dropdownlist, but I'm not sure how to setup the codebehind to insert the selected value when I select it and hit "insert" in the detailsview.
I have grid view in ASP.Net 3.5. I need to add multiple blank rows in a gridview and then have to save them in database. How can I do that in most simplest way?
Before a subscription to a newsletter and the record will be inserted, i'd like to check if the record already exist ina sql-server database. This what i've got as dusfar
adres = TxtEmail.Text DBConn.Open() If adres <> "" Then Try DBCmd = New SqlCommand("SELECT COUNT(*) FROM TBL_Subscribers WHERE email = @adres)", DBConn) ''Add DBCmd.Parameters.Add("@Email", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = adres DBCmd.ExecuteScalar() DBAdap = New SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM TBL_Subscribers ORDER BY ActivateDate", DBConn) DBAdap.Fill(DS) Catch exp As Exception Response.Write(exp) End Try End if
I want to generate 30,000 cards and each card must be duplicate check with database. In my card, there are 2 things. Serial No and CardID. If any card already exists then I generate another card id but with the same serial no.
So how faster way I can generate 30,000 card with duplicate check? Which one I have made application, it takes about 25 minutes to insert.
I can't seem to access a label that is outside the DataList. I wish to add the data in the label into a database, aswell as data that is inside the datalist (this is already working though). My SQL-query with only the specific label looks like this at the moment:
[Code]....
The data is added to the database when pressing a button inside the datalist (using onItemCommand). If I write UserIDLabel.Text the regular way it doesn't work either. The label is in the MasterPage, while the datalist is in a .aspx-page. If it is possible to somehow access the data that is in this label and add it to the database I would be ever grateful. Or is it somehow possible to add data that is in a Session and add it to the database?
I want to insert data in to the database by click on button and input box appears.The data entered in input box must insert into the database site that can quickly descirbe me asp.net controls and advance properties , actuallly i had created lots sites in php. Now time for asp.net
