Forms Data Controls :: Datanavigateurlformatstring - Passing Multiple Query Strings?

Jul 12, 2010

I am using the datanavigateurlformatstring within a datagrid property with the property set something like;

editrecords2.aspx?RID={0}&SID={1}&LID={2}&DIP={3}&IID={4}&TID{5}

Unfortunately, when the new webpage opens, the url contains lots of spaces and I'm struggling to remove all of the spaces. The code actually works but looks a bit messy, see below.

"http://localhost:34354/website1/editrecords2.aspx?rid=2&sid=2& dip=5 & iid=3 &tid=3"

but should look like this

"http://localhost:34354/website1/editrecords2.aspx?rid=2&sid=2&dip=5& iid=3&tid=3"

Forms Data Controls :: Passing Variables Into And Out Of Mysql Query

Jan 9, 2010

First up i would like to apoligize for these questions that are proable realy easy. I have been put on the spot by my boss and have been told to change all my php to asp.net c so it can go in this new cms i have at work. I have just spent the last 18 hours trying to get this to work and im geting a little desperate.

Ok so my current issue is that i dont know how to add html formating to a result string i pull out of my mysql database. I have my result sheet pulling into a gridview, what i want to do is put some information drawn from each row in the gridview out side of the <Tr> tag. Is this possible? But within the Table Tag second issue is it possiple to feed data into a page and then run a mysql query like i was doing in php.

I'm using the DetailView control to display employee details from a specfic company, but it seems when I try to create the query in the data source wizard I'm unable to select the variable for the WHERE clause, only the web pages control components.

The employees are selected through the company name which is entered at the beginning of the page and in turn is used to select the company id.

Cleaning Strings Before Passing To JQuery Ajax Data Parameter?

Aug 2, 2010

On using jQuery ajax on ASP.Net, we are required to pass the DATA through a string-ed json on the parameters needed. My only concern with this is with strings that has single & double quotes. I tried doing a replace on these and insert escape characters but unfortunately it just doesn't work.

UPDATE

var relativeName = $('#<%= txtRelativeName.ClientID %>').val().replace("'", "'");
$.ajax({ data: "{ relativeName: '" + relativeName + "'" });

Forms Data Controls :: Hyperlinkfield In Gridview Works In All Cases Except One When Using Datanavigateurlformatstring

Feb 12, 2011

I have a gridview with a hyperlinkfield inside of it. There is a dropdownlist that re-databinds the gridview onselectedindexchanged. I'm using the datanavigateurlformatstring attribute of the hyperlinkfield to make the url, and in in most cases it works as it should. HOWEVER, when one particular item is selected from the dropdownlist the associated links that are supposed to be created in the hyperlinkfield do not work. They arent actually clickable. In the source they have no href (which is what the datanavigateurlformatstring is supposed to set along with datanavigateurlfields). I have debugged to see that before and after databinding the information going into the control is correct, but still it doesnt work. In every other case it works.

Forms Data Controls :: Passing Multiple Parameters Through The DataNavigateUrlFomratString In GridView?

Apr 29, 2010

I Have a gridview where I have a link to a details page and I need to pass multiple parameters. I currently have the following:

<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="AssocID" HeaderText="AssocID" InsertVisible="False"
ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="AssocID" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="FirstName" HeaderText="First Name"
SortExpression="FirstName" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="MiddleInitial" HeaderText="M. I."
SortExpression="MiddleInitial" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="LastName" HeaderText="Last Name"
SortExpression="LastName" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="State" HeaderText="State" SortExpression="State" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="EMail1" HeaderText="EMail 1"
SortExpression="EMail1" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="AddrType" HeaderText="Addr Type"
SortExpression="AddrType" />
<asp:HyperLinkField DataNavigateUrlFields="AddrID,AssocID"
DataNavigateUrlFormatString="Details.aspx?AddrID={0}&AssocID={1}" HeaderText="Details"
Text="Details" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="AddrID" HeaderText="AddrID" InsertVisible="False"
ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="AddrID" Visible="False" />
</Columns>

According to all I have read my DataNavagateUrlFields string should work but it isn't. The deal is that any one (AssocID) can have multiple AddrID's associated with it. Regardless of which I choose I only get back the first AddrID for that AssocId.

C# - Alternative To Query Strings To Pass Data Between Webpages?

Jan 20, 2010

I am currently using a number of query string parameters to pass some data from one page to a second page (the parameters hold confirmation/error messages to display in the second page), that due to a third party product can no longer work correctly in the production environment. The user completes an action on the first page, and is then transferred to the second page. What are the possible alternatives to use instead of a query string and GET - session variables, POST data, or something completely different?

Forms Data Controls :: Multiple Linked Buttons In A Grid And Passing Values

Oct 24, 2010

I have 2 columns (name and address) in a gridview which are defined as linked buttons. Now when i click on a record in the first row (name) i am able to pass that value (selected name) to another page with rowcommand. Now i am trying to click on the second row (address) on a record but am not able to pass that value to the second page. Don't actually know how to define this in the code below. The first row (name) has to redirect to one page (this what i have already accomplished) and the second row (address) has to redirect to another page

<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Name">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:LinkButton ID="LnkBtnName" runat="server" CommandArgument='<%# Container.DataItem("Name") %>' Text='<%# Eval("Name") %>' CommandName="go" >LinkButton</asp:LinkButton>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Address">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:LinkButton ID="LnkBtnAddress" runat="server" CommandArgument='<%# Container.DataItem("Address") %>' Text='<%# Eval("Address") %>' CommandName="go" >LinkButton</asp:LinkButton>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
Protected Sub GridView_RowCommand(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewCommandEventArgs) Handles GridView.RowCommand
Dim strName As String = CType(e.CommandArgument, String)
Response.Redirect(String.Format("Test.aspx?id={0}", strName, False))
End Sub

CODE ON PAGE II:

Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
LblName.Text = Request.QueryString("id")
End Sub

Forms Data Controls :: How To Return Multiple Rows From A Query

May 18, 2010

I have the below c# method to populate an asp.net frontend control from a linq query. The only valid way I seem to be able to reference the query variable "result" is if I use the attribute "SingleOrDefault" but unfortunately this forces my query to return just the one single set of data for every unique primary key UserId value from my query, where I require the unique data attached to each different UserId value to be returned, how can I achieve this using linq? Note, I am passing the UserId value into my method from a public variable which is also below.

Forms Data Controls :: Populate Multiple DropDown Lists With One Query?

Jan 17, 2011

I am using a dataset control and I have 5 dropdown lists in which their content depends on what item is selected in each dropdown list.

I know I can populate the lists with 5 different queries taking the variables from each list but I am thinking there must be a better way.

Is there a way to populate each list with one query that takes the distinct items from each column returned without looping through the entire recordset?
