and my listview looks like this:

I want to sort with multiple columns.
i would like to sort a listview. i don't have a datasourceID. i bind the datasource manually. i think of using jquery(tablesorter) but i don't know how to use it.
View 1 RepliesI have a button that I would like to click and will put my Listview list in Descending order. However; when I click on the button nothing happens.

see the following code:

I have another 6-8 fields for the same listview. Due to the amount of fields, some of the field heads are wrapping and are not following the center alignment.
Is there a way I can center align the fields?Also, my listview does not sort. Is there something I am missing here?
I have a listivew that is assigned a datasource in the code behind based on query string options. From what i have found out, once there is no datasource assigned in listview html then the sort feature stops working automatically and you must put the code in the _Sorting event. I cannot find a good example of this logic.
good example of the listview manual sort logic?
I have a Listview control that DataBind programatically... ie I am NOT using SqlDataSource or such... I am attempting to sort a column... clicking on a link button that fires the "Sorting" event. So, after cliking on the column heading... I end up in this routine, where I hardcoded the .Sort = values (just for testing). The code is executed... but the RESULT show via Listview remains the SAME. No change!
How to fix this? I've seen some other posts examples that uses this event (ListView1_Sorting) and then sort via LINQ. I am not ready to try that...
Just want to know why dsPaymentList.Tables[0].DefaultView.Sort does not work?
I followed the example at: [URL]
protected void ListView1_Sorting(object sender, ListViewSortEventArgs e)
{
string sortExpression = e.SortExpression + " " + e.SortDirection;
DataSet dsPaymentList = new DataSet();

I need to sort dropdownlist alphabetically.

I'm having a problem sorting a dropdown that I've bound to a SQL Server data source. I've narrowed the problem down to the fact that I have a static item at the top of the dropdown with the data-bound items appended afterwards. If I remove the static item (<asp:ListItem Value="-1" Text="All" />) the ORDER BY part of the select clause works fine. How can I get around this issue? What I would like is to have the "All" static item at the top of the list with the data-bound items sorted alphabetically afterwards. I'm using Visual Studio 2010 and ASP.NET 4 if it makes any difference.

I have a simple dynamic gridview with following code -
GV = new GridView();

I have a listview that I am trying to initiate the connection string in codebehind. When I do it, I get the following error:The ConnectionString property has not been intialized.I know that I am successfully creating the connection string in codebehind because all other controls populate correctly from the dsame database.I do not get an error if I initiate the connection string in the html code.
View 6 RepliesDatabinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control. error when I place a drop down list into my instert item template of my listview, but I have the exact same control in my edit view and it works fine, any reason I am getting this error? I know what it means but why would it work in the edit mode, and not the insert mode?

Why can I not view anything in my dropdown list? It is totally blank
How can I populate a dropdownlist in an InsertItemTemplate in a ListView when it depends on another dropdownlist i.e. First DropDownList has a list of continents, once this one is selected DropDownList2 should be populated with the countries of the selected continent. Mind, of course both DropDownLists are inside the same InsertItemTemplate.
View 12 Repliesi have a listview linked to sqlDataSource1 and inside the listview in the itemtemplate i have a dropdownlist linked to another sqlDataSource2. in my item template I also have a button, I want to get the value that has been selected in the dropdownlist, click a button and launch a sql insert statement to insert data from the listview row and dropdowlist.selected value in another table.
how can I get data from the Dropdownlist, pass it to the "function()" in onItemCommand="function()" of my ListView instance, in order to achieve what I said before?.
In my edit template I want a dropdownlist containing a list of possible customers. The list is populated from a database table containing existing customers. If the main record has customer "XYZ", then I want that customer to be the default in the dropdown. I'm using VS 2008 and C# My markup for the dropdownlist is currently:
[Code]....
The dropdownlist is populated but the problem is it shows the first customer in the list. I don't want the user to have to rechoose customer if that is not what they are changing.
I have the following ListView (extra code removed for clarity) :
<asp:ListView ID="lvParticipants" runat="server" DataSource='<%# Eval("Participants") %>' >
<EditItemTemplate>
<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlCountry" runat="server" SelectedValue='<%# Eval("Country") %>'
DataSource="<%# GetCountries() %>" DataTextField="Text" DataValueField="Value" />
</EditItemTemplate>
<InsertItemTemplate>
<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlCountry" runat="server" SelectedValue='<%# Eval("Country") %>'
DataSource="<%# GetCountries() %>" DataTextField="Text" DataValueField="Value" />
</InsertItemTemplate>
</asp:ListView>
The Insert row in the ListView has an empty DropDownList and GetCountries() is not called. However, if I click the Edit button on an existing row, GetCountries() is called twice (not sure why) and the DropDownList is properly populated. Why isn't the InsertItemTemplate DropDownList getting populated?
on SelectedIndexChanged event handling of DropDownList in ItemTemplate of ListView. I put OnSelectedIndexChanged="DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged" in mark up, with code behind, but only to get Compiler Error Message: BC30456: 'DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged' is not a member of 'ASP.webform1_aspx'. How do I make it a member? When I do not put OnSelectedIndexChanged="DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged" in mark up, BC30456 does not pop up, but nothing happens when dropdownlist selected item is changed.

I have a dropdown list in ListView control in InsertItem Template. I want to bind the DropDownList when I Click on Link. I want to bind it in CodeBehind not to use Datasource. I tryed lot but not finding the DropDownList. See My Code....

<td colspan="7">

</asp:RequiredFieldValidator>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
</InsertItemTemplate>

I have a listview with following structure :
column1 column2 column3
row1 dropdownlist1 dropdownlist3 dropdownlist5
dropdownlist2 dropdownlist4 dropdownlist6
row2 dropdownlist7 dropdownlist9 dropdownlist11
dropdownlist8 dropdownlist10 dropdownlist12
Now, what i want is that , when a user select something from any dropdownlist , a fuction should be called in which I can get column and row of that dropdownlist.
I can get the dropdownlist's id in that function along with row and column of dropdownlist.
I need to bind drop down list inside InsertItemTemplate in ListView.

but method GetData() never calls. How can I bind DropdownList ?
I have a ListView that I need to populate a dropdownlist while rendering. For each rown in my table has a field called sizes which has data that looks like this "blue; red; yellow; green", I need to render a dropdownlist in the ItemTemplate with these values, I tried placing a PlaceHolder but I don't know how to populate it. I have tried to populate it OnItemDataBound and OnUnload but neither seem to work.
View 1 RepliesIn my project I have a listview which I am binding from code behind. Now I would like to add a droppdownlist for each item in listview. So my question would be:
Is there a way to populate my dropdownlist whit data which I have in a List?
Here is a bit of code to show how my listview looks like:
