Forms Data Controls :: Getting Embedded Controls In Gridview To Talk To Each Other?
Jun 3, 2010
I have a grid like this. I have a checkbox in one column and a textbox in another. They are both in ItemTemplate, not in EditTemplate.
[Code]....
I am trying to get them to talk to each other in the event handler. In this scenario, when the user checks the chebox in a given row, the textbox gets filled with today's date.
How would you go about doing that? The parameters for the event handler for CheckBox are just object and EventArgs, so I have no way of passing the row id or datakey of the given row.
I had a problem with my site in the past couple days and have almost recovered, but now I'm stuck on some code that has an Auto-Complete feature, which allows a user to type a name of a pub into a TetxBox, and based on the returned names, the user can click one and see that name in the GridView (just below the TextBox). The GridView was set up so that there was an href that the user could click on and that would open a window and the user would see the pub in Google Maps. The code below works just fine for the Auto-Complete and the GridView.
[Code]....
Here is the end of the working code. Somehow I need to use the code below to make the GridView have a href to allow a user to click and see the pub in Google Maps:
[Code]....
The code above worked fine before, but I'm not sure how it was incorporated into the GridView, and since I had a problem with my site a few days ago, I haven't been able to figure out this part.I'd sincerely appreciate any help in getting this up and running again.
Is this even possible? I'm trying to pass the DataKeyName (Primary Key) of my master gridview to an embedded child gridview, using a select controlparameter of the SQLDataSource control.
I have a client who runs a music business. Part of it revolves around giving lessons. He wants me to create a site where the user can purchase a lesson or group of lessons and then schedule that lesson using an online calendar. But I've never seen anything like it. I wonder if my friends over at the ASP.NET forums have?"
So here's my question. Can I make the ecommerce portion of a site talk to a calendar? If I purchase 100 dollars worth of lessons, can I "tell" that to the calendar and then debit that account every time a user schedules a lesson?
I have a DDL in templatefield of a details view. Its datasource pulls its parameter from a session field which is boolean. I've placed another DDL on the page that changes the session boolean in order to change the data displayed in the DDL in the template field. Whenevr I do this I get an error that states:"There is no source code for the current location."And when I click okay I get:"Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control."Here is my code:
I am a newbie at .NET technology and I would need to make exactly same thing like at this tutorial : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc164077.aspx#S1I don't need to edit button or delete button there, just expand and collapse rows of child table. I was wondering if there is not some more simpler way how to do this because the article is from 2003 and I don't understand it so much. And when I looked around this solution I found some SilverLight solutions but I can't use them.
I was wondering if anyone has done this. I'm writing an application which parses latitude and longitude into a database. When presenting this information to users I would like them to be able to click on a button which would show them the location in google maps.
Alternatively I could just give them the link to google maps into which they can click on and open a new browser window...
I have a gridview that's inside a .ascx control that's dynamically embedded into another .ascx control, which is then called by a web form. The gridview will initially bind, but when any paging/sorting/command events are then triggered, I can't get any breakpoints inside the events to kick off. Additionally, when I look at the code-behind in the now-blank page, I see the old data sitting there.
what on earth is going on here? For edification, the .ascx page with the control is excerpted.
i have grid view with one line per row, I added new field with is large text box 100 chars + and I want it to be in single row below the current row which is embedded from multiple small colums, e.g. name, age, address, etc. What is the simplest and correct way to do it, I am using gridview with item template already.
I am dynamically creating initial rows and cells in a asp:table on Page Load, whose cells need to have embedded user controls.
I have an Add Row button, where in, whenever I click I need to add rows to existing table and also persist viewstate of the user controls already added earlier to cells during initialization.
When I click on Add button, the controls disappear. how to recreate tables with their embedded user controls and populate the viewstate.
This is the basic piece of code I have currently and I am stuck -
I have a wcf dataservice that talks to a silverlight client and a wcf service library that talks to a chat client. How can i get the two services to talk to each other?
I have an ASP.NET page where I call this.DataBind() to bind the controls. I also have various user controls embedded. One has a drop down list, the bind statement gets called for it 2x but the sender the first time is not the drop down list.
Am I using the databind incorrectly? I use databind to get the properties of my page bound to a datasource so that I can use those properties in the declarative code.
In my DropDownList, I added if (sender == dropDownList) which solved the problem
Am building a custom controls that requires a jQuery plugin. It's related JS file is supposed to be registered just before </body> tag. I have this JS file as an embedded resource. So i tried RegisterClientScriptResource method of ClientScriptManager but there is no way of specifying where to register the script. Is there anyway i can achieve it.
I had gone through Fetching Email using Pop3. I am able to fetch all email using Pop3. Now i want read and download "CID" image. How can I ? Images which are being inserted inside Body.
I have a dropdownlist outside the gridview control. My griview control also have dropdownlist in the first column. I want to populate the dropdownlist inside the gridview control for all rows when the selected item is changed in the outside dropdownlist.
I have created a custom required textbox control. In this control's preinit event i load a css file. Alle css and images are inside the assambly. When i use my custom control on a page the control loads fine and also the css and images are loaded. Validation of the control occures when i click the validate button. So this works perfect. But now i want to use my control in the following senario: I have a grid in an update panel. When i select a record in the datagrid i show a panel in a second updatepanel. Inside this panel i have my custom required textbox control.
The following is happening: I select a record and the panel will be made visible. The custom required textbox control is visible, but the build-in css is not loaded. As a test i have created a new testpage. On this testpage i have put my custom required textboxes in an updatepanel the css is loaded fine. So when my controls are in a panel inside a updatepanel and i set the panel to visible, the css is not loaded.
I'm trying to create a web server control with a css embedded in the assembly.
I marked it as an embedded resource, add assembly attribute to reference it and use the proper methods to include the link to that
css in html code... my page renders ok witk something like <link href='/WebResources.axd?....' />
That's when the problem appears! My control isn't using the css as it appears to not found webResources.axd
I tried directly in web browser to locate http://locahost/mysite/WebResources.axd and it came with http code 404 NOT FOUND
In my IIS i have uncheked "Verify if file exists" on my extensions mapping related to .axd I add HEAD verb in Web.Config to path WebResources.axd and the result is always the same
I have created an asp.net usercontrol that should list users in a number of applications. For that purpose, the control renders a repeater (foreach application) which in turn renders a gridview (with users for that application).
The control renders fine, except the fact that columns in the gridview are not sortable. Nothing happens (no postback) when clicking the headers. Apparently, no JavaScript is rendered to perform the postback when clicking the header.
I would like to find controls in the detailsview control placed in the EmptyData Template of the gridview. I am trying to create Insert new record for the gridview control.
1. If there are existing records in the table - works fine and sets my two values: I placed Detailsview and Insert Button in the footer of the gridview. I needed to set the values of two fields. When I click on the Insert button it saves new record and sets the field with the value (code attached - works fine). I also have a popup extender that opens detailsview - this works just fine.
2, If ther are not records in the table - saves record but cannot find and set controls on the detailsview Same thing setup in the EmptyData Template. The record is saved but I cannot Find and set the field value on the control.
1. Link button (on click) in the gridview footer (works fine)
How to edit gridview row when not using sqldatasource and autogeneratecolumn property is set to true.I have a dropdownlist where table is selected on which gridview is populated (through sp from oracle) which is working but edit command is not working.Do i have to generate template myself or what ever solution?
I have the code below. If there exists gridview within gridview, how can I access hdnOrderLineID from gvwComponent_RowDataBound in inner gridview RowDataBound event. What should be the syntax???
In my gridview I have a dropdown and if the user select [NO], I show a textbox under the dropdown, However, I don't like how it looks, so is there a way to open up a modal using the modalExtender or the jquery thickbox from my dropdown via the code behind?
I'm already using the thickbox on other pages via a button, but can it be done via a dropdown that is embedded within a gridview?
Im having trouble accessing controls inside the gridview. I have a formview control on a aspx page and inside this formview i have controls that are bound to a datasource. Which works hundred percent. Also inside this formview i have a gridview which i have created my own template. Gridview1 has 3 columns with textboxes in each column.
Now this is what im trying to do. I have a dial button inside formview1 along with 4 textboxes which has telephone numbers in it. When i click on the dial button i want the time to be populated into Textbox1 which is inside gridview1 and at the same time Textbox2 to be pupulated with the Username as well as the number must be populated into Textbox3 inside gridview1.
