How To Redirect / Override The Default CDN Path For ScriptManager When EnableCDN=true
Jun 9, 2010
I am using the EnableCdn=true in my ScriptManager so that WebResource.axd and ScriptResource.axd are overridden with static links to JS libraries at the MS CDN service as follows:
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" EnableCdn="true" />
How do I override the CDN URLs or service so that I can retrieve the scripts over HTTPS from the MS CDN service rather than HTTP to avoid the browser mixed mode message? or for that matter a different or my own CDN service entirely.

[Code]....
The way I understand is, that all Scripts that are available on the CDN should be coming from there now. But only WebForms.js is referenced from the CDN. Both MicrosoftAjax.js and MicrosoftAjaxWebForms.js are still loaded from the local IIS.Why is that? Of course I can reference them manually,

Is there any integration going on, or EnableCDN=true just points script src to hardcoded locations on CDN?
Using ASP.NET Ajax from the CDN
When using ASP.NET 4, you can redirect all requests for ASP.NET framework scripts to the CDN.
Are <asp:ScriptManager EnableCDN="true" /> and CDN integrated so that I can configure ScriptManager to get the scripts combined from the CDN?
Or is combining the ASP.NET Ajax files (CompositeScript) incompatible with getting then from the CDN?
Note: I'm talking about a possible integration between Microsoft products: Microsoft's Ajax scripts served by Microsoft's CDN with calls handled by Microsoft's ScriptManager control.I.e. ScriptManager would tell CDN which of their javascript files it wanted conbined.

i cant seem to selectively disable serverside validation using annotations. Data annotations and unobtrusive validation is an awesome feature and has worked out great for us thus far but trying to localize it has been fruitless.
Basicly i have a property in a model object like this (it wraps a DTO)
[Code...]
i can change the output text for things like data range, required, string length etc. but simple stuff like "this field has to be a number" seems hidden away.

am currently working on a web application, whereby I want to add code to the Application_BeginRequest method of the Global.asax file, without adding code to the Global.asax file, which sounds a little crazy, let me explain a bit more.If anyone has ever developed in sitecore before, they would have seen that the Global.asax file has empty methods, however it has 'using Sitecore;' and the global.asax file provided does not inherit from System.Web.HttpApplication.

Global.asax route values
routes.MapRoute(
"Default", // Route name
"{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters
new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional, filterDate = DateTime.Now.AddDays(-1), filterLevel = "INFO" } // Parameter defaults
);
Here's my actionlink
@Html.ActionLink(item.MachineName, "Machine", new { id = item.MachineName, filterLevel = "hello" }, null)
When the filterlevel is specified in the actionlink, it generates a url like this: [URL] Which is the same page as I am currently on. If I change the actionlink to use a property other than one that has a default value in the route table (yes, if I use filterDate it messes up too), it generates a link like this:..............

I am new to ASP.NET MVC and using ASP.NET MVC 2 with XVal. I am not using DataAnnotationsModelValidatorProvider and instead using NHibernateValidatorNHibernateValidator attributes. I would like to know that, when failing to provide a value for a non nullable type, how can i override the vanilla messages.There are actually two scenarios for non nullable type with model binding failure
1) when the data the user entered isn't compatible with the data type (for example, typing in "abc" for an integer field). The default message for this is: "The value [AttemptedValue] is not valid for [Property]."
2) when the user did not enter any data for a field which is not nullable (for example, an integer field). The default message for this is: "A value is required."
I know that the [Required] validator from DataAnnotationsModelValidatorProvider is treated specially during model binding failures on non-nullable types, so that you're not stuck with the vanilla message 'A value is required.'.
Also The DefaultModelBinder uses [Required] attribute for the second scenario only.Since I am not using DataAnnotationsModelValidatorProvider, I can not use [Required].Bearing in mind that I am already doing all the attribute validation and other business rules validation in my domain layer using XVal , What are my options here?
- Allow the model binding validation errors to occur, and then ignore and remove them from ModelState in my action method and refill it with my custom validation errors?
- Derive a custom model binder from and defaultmodel binder and override the onModeUpdated method ignoring all the validation?

I'm working with an ASP.net web application.I've written a user control called LocationSelector that has its own Javascript in an external .js file. In order to load that file, I use the following line of code:
ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptInclude(this, typeof(LocationSelector), Guid.NewGuid().ToString(), "Controls/LocationSelector.js");
The problem is with "Controls/LocationSelector.js". As long as the page that uses the control is in the root directory of the application, everything works. However, as soon as I try to put this control in a page in a subdirectory, it can't load the Javascript file.

I am using Form Authentication and sending an Aajx request to the server for authentication. Based on the json result, the client decides where to go and what to do. That is the reason I am not using FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage to not interfere the ajax/json response.In this case Request.IsAuthenticated returns false, even after validating the user with Membership.ValidateUser. Then I set the cookie using FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(username, false)

HttpContext.Current.Response.Redirect("~/Examples/my.aspx");
//or
HttpContext.Current.Response.Redirect("~/Examples/my.aspx",true);
the code above generates the error as I mentioned at this topic's title. I simply need to refresh my ASP.NET page, I can't use that code instead:HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Refresh","2");because it says about IIS pipeline modeThe puprose is that I must get into OnLoad method where some conditions are true after refresh/redirect

I am trying to redirect to the same page with different query string parameters
HttpResponse resp = HttpContext.Current.Response;
resp.Redirect(landingPagePath)
To avoid further processing after redirection i check if
HttpContext.Current.Session.IsNewSession == false
but for some reason i found that this is not always the case after redirection

You can see in the source of this site that some asp.net script files are being served from the microsoft cdn,while a couple others are not: http://www.deadlywind.com .It appears that the Microsoft Ajax javascript files are still being served up by my server and not the CDN, via the scriptresource.axd references found in the source of the above mentioned website. My question is, why are these not using the CDN and how should I force them to?

I'm going to be in a situation where I'll have www.DomainA.com and www.DomainB.com, each having seperate IPs. All requests to www.DomainB.com/{Path}, I'd like to redirect to www.DomainA.com/{Path}.
My initial reaction was, in the base directory, to simply create a HTTPModule and Web.config to add in the module, where the module would then redirect the request to DomainA.
The only problem with this is IIS is not executing the module, and instead determining itself whether or not there is a matching file or application to run based upon the requested path (i.e. so you'll either get an error about the requested file not existing, or a security error about not finding the requested application).
What do I need to change in IIS to always run my module? Or is there any easier way to do this using .Net 2.0 & IIS6?

I have a user control with both an UpdatePanel and a ScriptManager.
Some pages in the system have a ScriptManager of their own, and need to include the UserControl.
This throws the "You can only have 1 ScriptManager" exception.
If I remove UserControl's ScriptManager, I'll get 'UpdatePanel1 requires a Script Manager" exception.
I've tried to modify the UserControl to dynamically include it's own script manager if none exists. But all the methods I've used before involve adding a delegate to Page.OnInit-- which won't work, since the UserControl Init fires first.
Because the system designers here like making my life difficult, I can't create a MasterPage, or a BasePage for the system in inherit off of. I'd be stuck going to each page an adding a ScriptManager before the UserControl on each of them. Is there any way of, in the UserControl, detecting if the page has a ScriptManager, and if not, adding it dynamically in a way that makes the UpdatePanel happy?

I have an ASP.NET project. Currently, it starts on the Default.aspx page. However, I'd like to change this so that it starts on a different page. In VS2008 it is possible to specify the start page, but that doesn't seem to affect the published product.I've tried putting a Response.Redirect in the Page_Load of Default.aspx, but that doesn't seem to work either.

IIS6, ASP.NET 2.0, No Forms Authentication I'm calling Response.Redirect("~/foo.aspx"), but the default document ("Default.aspx") for my site is appearing. To make matters worse, it only happens intermittently. Sometimes the redirect displays the right page.
I've checked session state, and I don't see any values in the web.config (that is, I'm assuming I'm using the 20-minute defaults).
There's foo.aspx and foo2.aspx (and the default document, Default.aspx). All pages extend from BasePage, which extends Page.
BasePage has a property named ReturnPage:
protected string ReturnPage {
get {
if (Session["ReturnPage"] == null) {
Session["ReturnPage"] = "";
}
return Session["ReturnPage"].ToString();
}
set { Session["ReturnPage"] = value; }
}
Users click on a LinkButton on foo.aspx, and the click event handler ends with two lines of code:
ReturnPage = ResolveUrl("~/foo.aspx");
Response.Redirect(ResolveUrl("~/foo2.aspx"));
The Page_Load of foo2.aspx has problems, and its error handling calls Response.Redirect(ReturnPage).
When I view the response headers of foo2.aspx, the 302 location is string.Empty (that is, there isn't one). That same response header has the same ASP.NET Session ID as the response of foo.aspx.
And remember -- this is intermittent. Sometimes, you can click on that LinkButton and go effortlessly to foo2.aspx, no problem. You can process the click with the exact same data once, and it will fail. You'll navigate from the default document (Default.aspx, where you were sent by the "bug") back to foo.aspx, click again with the same data (the same row in the grid/table -- the same LinkButton, essentially), and you'll be redirected to foo2.aspx without issue.

I currently have the following ActionFilterAttribute:
[Code]....
No matter the code, the point is that when I use the Filter in my controller, I need to pass in values for both "mem" and "redirect", but I don't know the syntax. All examples I've seen only use one parameter. Is there any way to use more than one or should I revise to a different strategy? As an example, I currently use:
[Code]....
where m is an instance of WBMembership. If I tried to add ",redirect=true" inside the (), I get an error.

I have an ASP.NET 3.5 intranet website which has a default page with a menu and when the user clicks on a menu item, I display the page for that menu item in an iframe embedded within the default page. but if the user types the URL of a page directly in the browser, then I would like to redirect him to the default page, because all the content pages do not have a menu. (Master Pages will solve this issue, but I can't use Master page here for a reason and don't want to go into those details). how to find out if user has arrived at the page directly by typing the URL or by clicking on the menu item, so that I can decide whether to redirect or not? Is this possible to find out? btw this is an intranet site and no login is required.
