Feb 2, 2010I have seen this for a long time, and finally decided to put the question up here. I have some applications that I need to maintain that were written in Delphi 2007 for .NET (ASP.NET 2.0). Normally, the first time I run the application (using IIS) I get the classic "Unable to start debugging on the web server. Unable to attach to ASP.NET worker process" message. I simply press F9 (run) again, and it runs. Sometimes I have to try running several times before it will actually run. I am running Windows 7 64-bit (and have seen the same effect on Vista 64-bit). I do have IIS configured for ASP.NET, and I do have the following code in my Web.config file.

The point is that I eventually can run the application in the debugger, sometimes even on the first try. Many times when I get the failure it happens about 15 seconds or so after I press Run, sometimes even after I've hit a page or two (or three) of the Web app. And, yes, when Delphi gets into this mode, I can simply run without debugging, and all is fine (unless I really want to debug). And, I can just keep on trying to run in the debugger and eventually it will just work.
It appears that Delphi's .NET debugger is somehow getting the idea that the application cannot run, and then gives up and stops the process (which as I've mentioned is sometimes clearly running). I know of other developers who have also seen this behavior. My question is, does anyone know how to stop this annoying behavior?

I want to develop a WebPart and make some settings configurable (just like we can configure parameters for a console application in app.config)
For example, authorized users could set parameters of WebPart in Edit Page (from browser based UI interface), then Select -> Modify WebPart properties, or edit parameters in SharePoint Designer.
The parameters would be application specific parameters.
How do I go about doing this?

May 6, 2010My customer has a sharepoint 2007 server installation where they show a simple GUI. They want me to develop a webpart for displaying the top 10 most critical service arrends and add this to their "start" sharepoint webpage. The data is available through a stored procedure, and the gui could be as simple as a repeater. BUT, how do I make this as a webpart in sharepoint. This means I want to drag and ppsition it anywhere I want on the sharepoint GUI. I have worked with asp.net for 5 years, but never touched sharepoint.
I did some googling on the topic but what i found was very cumbersome, they said I needed to have sharepoint installed locally. Thats just not possible in the current environment. Surely its not that difficult. Can't I just develop a standard webpart and import it somehow into sharepoint?

Mar 23, 2011I have a custom master page that I use in WSS3.0 (SharePoint 2007) and I am using a HTML 'DOC TYPE' which I am declaring at the top of the master page. The site all works very well with my master page apart from some of SharePoint controls which are acting a little funny, namely the People Picker for a People and Group field.If I remove the DOC TYPE declaration then the People Picker and other controls work perfectly and behave as they should but it sends some of my customisations/layout all over.
Before I spend a lot of time reviewing fixing the issues I get to my design without having the DOC TYPE declared, does anyone know if there is a certain DOC TYPE that is compatible with WSS3.0 / SharePoint 2007 and all of its features (i.e. People Picker Fields)?

Everything is working fine when the current page type is an Application Page, however when the page type is a Publishing page (e.g. BlueBand.master) the page_PreInit procedure is never called - it is still being registered with the event handler though.

The first webpart (MyTestingWebpart1) basically it does only inserting of data and the other webpart (MyTestingWebpart[2]) displays the records from the database. Now my problem is when I try to click on the save button, somehow I don't know how to refresh the webpart that displays the newly inserted record. Is this possible?
I have added a query at the page load event of MyTestingWebPart[2]. Both of the webparts attached are web user controls.

C# - Clear All Regions / Views On Prism 4 (Silverlight) Logout?
Feb 21, 2011I have an 2 regions in my silverlight application leveraging prism 4 and unity main shell view,
the Authenticated region and Non-authenticated region, and a menu item.
Within the authenticated region, there are a lot more sub regions depending on the view injected into it.
On load of the application, I will be presented with the login screen "Non-authenticated region", when login, I will be presented in the Authenticated region.
When I click on the logout button on the menu, I will again be presented with the login view.
But when I login for the second time, my existing view loaded within the authenticated region is still there.
I tried the following code on logout, to remove all views from that region, but the views retrieved from the container is still the existing view..

Currently I have set up .dot template files with bookmarks and then use COM to open these files pass the data and save. I can then stream the file to the users desktop. The issue i have is that to get this working when i release it is by installing Wrord on the server which I would prefer not to do.

Client send post request to API implemented on SharePoint, API receive a request and do the authentication and create a login cookie. Client keep communicating with API(with the login cookie), request necessary information and API returns it.
I could not find anyway to hook a program... Is there anyway to hook a program or implement own authentication mechanism before SharePoint's own authentication is called?
