Suppose there is button on which there is event for adding the total sum(there is coloumn Amount in gridview) and posting the data in gridview i.e update of gridview. I want that when user click on button it will update the gridview i.e data will inserted in geridview but it will not add current numeric value to the total sum unless user refresh the page.

View 2 RepliesI have an ASP.NET/C# application that exports some data into an Excel spreadsheet using COM interop at the click of a Button control. When I click the button, Excel is opened with the generated spreadsheet. For what it's worth, here is the button code:

This works fine, except when I click the button, close the subsequent spreadsheet, and refresh the page. When the page is refreshed after clicking the button, the call to Export_Workbook() is made again and so the spreadsheet opens again. Firefox, for example, says this when you refresh: "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier." This is something I want to avoid.
I'm sure there's a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to do, I'm just not sure what the best approach is.

I have a problem when I try to pass in paramaters for a report in my report viewer. I have set up the ObjectDataSource and set the paramaters for 3 text boxes that are on the page. The only way I have found to set the paramaters for the report is the user must fill in the paramaters and hit the refresh button on the Report Viewer toolbar ,but I would like to have the user click a asp.net button insted. Is there anyway to call the refresh method from codebehind?
View 1 RepliesI have a table on my page. I need to scroll down a little to get to that table. In that table i have som data that i edit and save to database. When the save is done i need to refresh the page( Response.Redirect(Request.RawUrl )) so it loads the new data to that table. When the refresh is done the page is on top again so that i need to scroll down again to see the table. This makes it very unusable for the user.
How can i refresh the page without it going back to top again? I tryed wrapping an updatepanel around the table but it didnt

It is supposed to refresh every night.... refresh is done by other vendor(3rd party).... we dont know what method(technology) they use to refresh the databases....
My question is .....
Is there a good way to know when the last refresh has happend...can we determine it from sys tables.....
the sql server is installed in window server 2003 box.... we have access to the box as well as the sql server.....

Data inserts correctly to my backend SQL table, however as i am posting back a success/fail message to the same page, i have noticed that after a successful INSERT if it hit the Refresh button the INSERT is doubled up.
How can i stop a user pressing the Refresh button and doubling the INSERT?

I have a gridview that has allowPaging and AllowSorting set to true. It is bound to a sqldatasource with the selectCommand firing a sql query. The sqldatasource has EnableCaching = true, and caching duration = "60". The idea is to run the paging, sorting, etc from the cache.
A separate dataUpdate event updates the data that is being loaded in the grid view, but I am not able to see the change in the gridview data till 30 seconds (caching duration) .
What is the best way to force refresh the gridview data by the dataUpdate event?
I came across this artice that tells to use CacheKeyDependency, but when I implemented it, the gridview gets refreshed at every dataUpdate event, but also the paging and sorting fires the sqldatasource Selectcommand sql query. I want this query to be fired only on dataUpdate.

View 1 RepliesI'm coding with VB.NET and have a webform that includes gridview. The gridview captures data via a db view. Also the view includes all the parameters of the tables.
The problem is: when start program, there is only 2 rows seen on gridview. then i can insert something successfully. And when i checked from db i can see the new data. But in my form, newly inserted data doesn't seen. Even i restart the whole program, gridview always shows only 2 entries.
I am refreshing my DataGridView by calling using the code below:

So I would NOT be calling FillDataGridView() from Timer1_Tick.My question is: what do I have to add inside Timer1_Tick so that it will refresh my DataGridView (the one with the templates)
