I am using visual studio 2008 and from toolbox i have used create user wizard. I am able to create users and when a user is created it says successfully created a user.
how can the created users "name" be retrieved. I want to use this name for updating my local database.
I want to use the Domain Users group to show all the users in a dropdown box. For some or other reason I cannot return all the users when looking for everyone under the domain so instead I was thinking of using the domain users group.This is part of my code:
I am building a webform dynamically but when I go to get the values the placeholder has no controls. Every control added has an unique ID. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong (language is C#).
I have looked and so far not been able to find the answer. When a user creates a new account i want the user to be automatically logged into the site as opposed to just being redirected to the log in page. I am able to create the users but am unsuccessful at finding logging them in.
I am using ASP.NET MVC 3. I am using what essentially came with for free in the Visual Studio project template for an MVC project with the "Internet Application" option. Basically this brings in Forms authentication and provides some basic elements to manage user login and stuff.
I am also using the web profiles stuff with this to store some custom fields. Everything was going great. I use SuperFunProfile as a wrapper around the Profile instance to make it easier to get at profile properties. Until I wanted to set a property of a Profile right away after signing the user up.The problem I can't solve is that this.Request.RequestContext.HttpContext.Profile contains the profile for the anonymous user. How can I get a new profile for the user now that he should be signed up and signed in?
public ActionResult SignUp(SignUpModel model) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { [code]....
I poked around Membership and Web.Profile, but I am not seeing anything that looks like it will get me closer to my goal.Maybe I should just create a ProfileModel that I store myself into the DB rather than using Web.Profile? I could key that on MembershipUser.ProviderUserKey which would make it easier to create a ProfileModel at sign up, I suppose.
I am using ASP.NET profiles with allowAnonymous="true". I am NOT using ASP.NET membership. I recently took a hard look at the aspnetdb database and noticed that although my site gets 600-800 unique visitors daily, there are 4000-5000 "users" being created in the database.
Clearly what is happening here is the users with cookies disabled end up creating a record for every request.
My question: How do I prevent user and profile database records from being created if the client doesn't support cookies or has them disabled?
i have to access Textbox and check box values at same time those check box and text box created at run time .i know how i can retrive single controll but problem is that i want both control values at same time to add them in database
I am using the code below to recreate a modalPopup window. At each UpdatePanel refresh I "lose" the window but I recreate it again after my Panel is updated. This gives me the impression that the windows is always open. The only problem is after I drag and drop it to a different location, the window is recreated back in its original location:
1 - Initialize a global var for X and Y with the static values of 50 and 250;
2 - Show the window and drag it to a different location;
3 - UpdatePanel is refreshed and my Gridview is data bound with new data
On step 3 above I need to find a way to save the current window position BEFORE UpdatePanel is called and apply the saved position AFTER the UpdatePanel call is finished.
In my asp.net application, users are created by the administrators & those users need to log-in into the system using their own email/password or openid. So what is the best option to implement in this scenario?
I mean, as users can't register them self,do administrator required to associate each openid with the users & what kind of table structure do I need?
And do I also need the log-in interface like that of [URL] showing multiple types of authentication(default & openid from various providers)?
i'm new to membership. i have a table named contact, with a field, userId that must get its data from the membership users table. so when a user is created i have to get the userId from membership users table. how can i do that?
I'm new to directoryServices and im trying to capture all users in the active directory and their organizational units but i'm having abit of trouble here, i've been reading through the forums and searching online but can't seem to find information that is viable to me.
Here is brief overview of what im trying to do. Im trying to create a datatable where i can insert all the usernames and their ou by capturing the values from the AD but i keep getting alot of duplicated usernames BUT in different organizationalUnits. I've checked the AD, and they do not belong so the following are my codes, but i can't seem to figure out what is wrong.
I have some code that returns my LastPasswordSet date when I use my administrator account on my development machine using localhost but when I deploy to me test server and I get an exception "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" [Code].... [Code].... Any ideas?
I have been using LINQ to SQL for quite a while (about two years). Every thing was fine until now. As usual, I created LINQ to SQL classes and built the project, then created an aspx page. However, I cannot see the DataClassesDataContext in the code behind file. It is not listed in the intellisense list.
I'm creating a static helper class for web services I'm writing. I'm tapping into the API of Telligent and therefore creating these Telligent "service" objects that allow me to do things with the platform. For example, I'm creating a MembershipSerice object in my helper class so I can do membership stuff with the same object. In my helper class I have a property with a getter that creates a new one of these objects:
private static MembershipService _MembershipService { get return new MembershipService(path, usr, pwd); [code]...
I am trying to retrieve all the users from active directory into a sorted list, but for some reason it does not return all the users like myself for instance. It's on a client's ad and there is probably about 1500+ users in AD.
My web page has two ways of displaying a particular content. 1. When the page is loaded, the items ( images with anchor tag) are generated using ASP Repeater. 2. When user perform some Ajax action, the images are returned as JSON and I use jQuery for creating the a & img tags.In both these methods, the anchor tags with images are displayed with width 60px. There is no CSS class applied. But strangely the display is not consistent. Here is the both displays:I wonder why this difference occur. I check this with all browsers ( IE,FF& chrome) and all behave the same. Here is my jQuery code:
Any idea why this behaviour occurs? I also checked the css applied to these elements in chrome and FF.. they seems to have all the same CSS attributes.
I have an asp.net web app that uses forms-based authentication, a SqlMembershipProvider (using an encrypted password format), and a SqlRoleProvider. I need to know if it's possible to administer the users (create new users, assign them to roles, etc.) from a windows application - the powers that be don't want any administrative functionality in the web app itself.
Here is the membership provider definition from web.config:
[code]....
So, obviously, I have a Sql Server database that contains the users and roles for the web app. I'd like to create a separate windows app that references the web app assembly, and use the configured MembershipProvider, RoleProvider, and machineKey to create users, assign users to roles, etc. If that's not possible, I can duplicate the configuration settings from web.config within the windows app. But I don't know how to do this either.
I need to stop users users using the browser back button and potentially submitting an old version of a form.
I'm storing a guid in a session variable and also writing the value to a hidden form field and then checking the session value against the hidden field value if a user does try to navigate back and submit an old form.
If the form is submitted and the user wants to complete a new copy of the form then a new guid is generated both to the session and to the hidden form field. Now, if the user decides to hit the back button a few times to get the old form and tries to submit it again, the page checks the current guid in session against the guid stored in the form field and it finds a mismatch and prevents the form being submitted.
This works as expected in Chrome and Firefox, but in IE6, when the user hits the back button to view the old form, the new guid value appears in the hidden field of the old form! This means the user can submit the old form again, which we definitely do not want.
We have implemented the ASP membership and roles..and we would like to display the users currently logged in and also display the number of users online so we can display that on the page. The list of users woudl only be available to our admins. BUt the number of users will show for everyone.
