Oct 18, 2010How can I save asp:HiddenField value across postback?
View 4 RepliesHow can I save asp:HiddenField value across postback?
View 4 RepliesI have updatePanel and hiddenField in it. I need to save object to hiddenField without full pastback (only updatePanel updating).ViewState can't help, because it works only with full postback.
View 1 RepliesI am looking for an event firing before a DropdownList auto-postback to save Listbox items (populated with JS) in the ViewState.I tried the OnSelectedIndexChanged event but it's fired too late.

View 1 Replieslets say you have the toggle buttons from this page: [URL]
and you put it in a UpdatePanel AJAX... so lets say on a partialpostback.. when you re-create teh controls on server-side, the state of whether or not those buttons were pushed is long-lost and gone.. so how then how do you remember those states?
Can I save each button state into viewstate or session state? regenerate each button then call the javascript function to change its color-state depending on the session state variable?
I am using link button in updatepanel and click on asp:linkbutton it refereshes all page. to stop _dopostback on link button click.or any alternative to use linkbutton.
View 1 RepliesOK, here's my scenario. I inherited a website and I'm dealing with a quirk. I have a page that has a repeater with auto postback controls in it. And also a hyperlink or a button to open a RadWindow to add a new item or edit an existing one, the repeater probably could have been a Gridview, but forget that for now.
If you use the button to add a new entry or the hyperlink to edit, it works fine and closes and refreshs the page. BUT, after you click ANY of the auto postback check boxes and THEN try and use the new button or edit hyperlinks the RadWindow works, but on clicking SAVE or CLOSE it throws a dialog box in IE and Firefox letting the user know that:
"To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier."
IE's message is similar. Clicking RESEND works fine and everything is ok, but its a bit distracting to the user. The RadWindow open a page that has THIS javascript in it:
function RefreshParentPage() {
I have a for which is built within an ASP.net usercontrol. This form is then used within a CMS as part of integration with a merchant gateway. The gateway requires that a number of hiddenfields be passed in which is fine in the main however one of these needs to be called Profile. The CMS I am using also defines a global variable called Profile and as such when I try and add a hidden field with this ID I get errors.
Is there a way of setting the 'name' property to Profile, and the ID to something different?
I'm using HiddenField in my Asp.net Page and store some value in it. but user can changes it's value via firefox Firebug in client side and enter an invalid value in it. so when user presses the submit button in the web page,invalid data will recieve in server side and invalid data will store in my database.

I wanted to ask if I could do something like:
<asp:HiddenField ID="mypostID" runat="server" Value="<% Response.Write(Session["ïd"])%>"/>
I cannot access the session from the user control code behind but if I put a Respose.Write on the page itself it shows the session value.
i have this line of code
<%= Html.Hidden("ContentItem.ContentType.ContentTypeId", item.ContentType.ContentTypeId)%>
How do i get that value or access its data in my controller?
I'm making a GridView with like 12 fields and about 8 of them are hidden. I want to display those 8 as details of each row when I select the row with a button. I already have the jQuery function that someone in this forum gave me a couple weeks ago, it is working perfectly fine. The problem I have is that I don't get the value of the BoundField that is visible =False I just get the closest BoundField value of the index that I request (the next of the hidden one). I have used a TemplateField with a HiddenField and I have the same problem. There is some way to get those HiddenField? This is the code that I'm using:

I have the following code. I can't use updatepanels to keep the tabs, so I want to use a hiddenfield to keep the ID and on the code behind tab it on the page load. How do I use a hiddenfield in the following code to keep the tabID?

Looks like the "asp:HiddenField" doesn't have an "AutoPostBack" property, and I'm having problems with the "OnValueChanged" event... I need to call a function (C#) when I populate the hidden field, but in my case nothing happens. And I cannot use any scripts.
View 2 RepliesThe Visible property, as I understand it, helps to enable or disable the visibility of a control.
But what is its use in the case of the HiddenField control in ASP.NET?
I want to send some data to other pages using asp hiddenfields.Page1.aspx:
<body>
<form id="form1" runat="server">
<asp:TextBox ID="txt" runat="server">

I need to set the ContextKey value of an autocomplete control with the value of a hiddenfield in client side.I did try with
ContextKey = "hdnLoggedUserID.value" UseContextKey="true">
How can I get the value of the hiddenfield and set it to the ContextKey atribute ?
I want to set the "name" attribute for HiddenField control of ASP.NET from code behind, but I cannot find the "Attributes" property. Is it not there for a purpose? How do I add the attribute

Background:I'm building a custom control as a base class that derives from CompositeControl. It consists of a FormView, a ObjectDataSource and a CRUD-Button Series (Create, Read, Update, Delete - Buttons). I'm loading the different FormView templates within the deriving classes dynamically from file with Page.LoadTemplate().
Class structure:
TabControlBase:CompositeControl
Employer:TabControlBase
Applicant:TabControlBase
Each deriving class knows the specific template-paths for loading FormViews templates.
The ObjectDataSource is connected with a DAL using a Select and an Update Method. The Select-Method works fine: When loading the CompositeControl the data of the DAL are shown in the Labels of the embedded FormView (ReadOnly-Template). When I'm switching to Edit Mode the data also are displayed in the TextBoxes (Edit-Template).
The problem occurs when I'm trying to update data using the "Save" - Button: The connected DAL-Method is calling properly, but the parameters all are NULL.Tree structure of this custom control:
Panel -
--- FormView
EditTemplate (ascx): Name, Name1, Segment
--- ObjectDataSource
--- CRUD-Button Stack: New, Edit, Delete, Save, Cancel, Copy, Print
All controls will be added dynamically in the base class "TabControlBase" within the overridden CreateChildControls - method. The CreateChildControls method is called by the deriving classes e.g. Employer after setting specific properties e.g. templates,
object data source methods etc.The control is placed in a simple abc.aspx-Page. What I detected so far on PostBack
- When I'm looking at the ViewState Collection within the OnLoad-method of the abc.aspx the ViewState-Collection is Null (Count = 0)
- It seems that the control tree is empty. I'm not able to find any control using a proper working recursive FindControlMethod
- Only the Page.Request Collection shows the expected controls
Conclusion for now:It seems that the CompositeControl "forgets" the values of the FormView TextBoxes on PostBack. It seems it has to do with ViewState Management.
I allow the end user to create a tab control dynamically in an ASP.Net page by getting some details. For each and every tab added I get some settings -
Tab Title
Tab Content
Tab Footer link
So I get these details for each and every tab. The user is provided with a button 'Add Tab' to more one more tab. So I need to add one more tab settings panel in the page to get the tab settings. But doing so, I lose the values entered in the previously created dynamic tab settings panel. The user can add as many tabs and enter settings for each and every tab. Finally when they save it I build the tab control (based on their settings and content) and I render the control.
Since the controls are dynamic, I'm able to thing of two options -
Recreate previously created n - 1 tab settings panel while adding a nth tab. So across each and every postback I need to recreate the settings panel for each and every tab. But I don't know how to persist the values in this case.
Add the settings panel in the client side with simple html controls and on page UnLoad parse the controls -> Parse the settings -> Save it in a hidden field -> Get it in the server side. In this case I lose all the server side capabilities where I need to write validation scripts for the controls.
