Not Able To Retain HiddenField Values When Using AJAX Updates In .Net
Aug 20, 2010
I have a hidden field which is used to count the number of times "Load Grid" button is clicked. Load Grid button and the grid view are in update panel as shown below.
[Code]....
Code behind:
public partial class ajaxGridSort : System.Web.UI.Page
{
public string sortOrder
{
get [code]....
Each time user clicks on load grid or try to sort in the grid, I am loosing the hidden field values. Can you please help me understand why am I loosing hidden field data on AJAX postback and please provide the solution for this issue?
Updates to the edited item are not passing the new / updated values but rather the original values. And I can't for the life of me figure out why when I change the original value in an edit textbox and post the update the new value is not being passed. I get the original value. Perhaps fresh eyes can spot the problem. This should be super basic but apparently I'm missing something.
Here's the code for the Item and Edit templates. The code behind is below this.
I have controls in the forms . After submit , I am displaying crystal report. After display of Crystal report if I come back to my form again using back button my values in the forms are not retained .(i.e) Some controls having values , some not and some have different values.
How to maintain values in the form which coming back using back button?
suppose our model has a property named "CreatedByUserId" that keeps the creator's user id
when we want to update our model, there are no need to display this field, but we should keep it's value during the update.
so, if i don't place any edit field for this property on the view, the model wouldn't have any value for CreatedByUserId property when returns to controller
to solve this, i :
1.place a hidden input in the view for these fields (which is vulnerable)
or
2.make a Get call to db and get the original CreatedByUserId value on each update (which causes additional round trips to db)
Page is a typical search page with few filters on it. When search for records based on filters, it shows result in Gridview. From grid view records, user can click on any record to see the details which takes the focus on new page. Its working fine so far.Now when user comes back from details page to search page. I am loosing selected filters values and no result in grid view.How can i display selected filters and its results in gridview when user is coming back on search page? Any example etc.?
I've got a couple pages in my web app that are used by external applications. They will link to the pages, and pass in various querystring values to allow my app to do the searching and return the results in the page. The problem is, if the user is not yet logged into the web app, they are sent to the login page, and the ReturnURL is truncated to include only the first QueryString value. I lose the rest of the values. So far I haven't figured out a solution to this. Here's a quick example:
The external application links the user to: [URL]
If the user is not logged in they are sent to the login page, and the current URL looks like this:
I am using string builder class to store the dropdown selected values .. I am doing this on the selected index change event .. The problem is the previous value does not retain ..
I am having an aspnet panel in my aspx file.There is an ultraweb tab placed inside this.also I am having a button outside this panel.Within the tab I have a textbox whose readonly property is
set to "true".Whenever I click the button a javascript function is called .On clicking 'OK' in the popup ,the textbox values are lost.Is there a way to retain these values?
I have a page where users need to enter a lot of information. Upon submitting, it will be redirected to a confirmation page. I need to provide a "back" button here to allow users to return to previous page and change the values on the form. How this could be done? The values on the form need to be retained.
In asp.net mvc when validation fails error message is disaplayed on same view, values entered by user are lost . Also all the drop down list items needs to be passed again in the viewData. Selected values in the drop down list again reset. How to display same view again with failed validation message.
I have a MasterPage and a ContentPage. On the ContentPage I Similated a TabControl by using a Menu and an IFrame. When the menu item is seleceted it loads in the appropriate WebPage into the IFrame. Now... on one of the WebPages I am creating dynamic controls on Page_Load. But when I refresh or switch menu (Simulated TabControl) back and forth, then I lose my controls and values.
i need to be able to reset a HiddenField's value if my AutoCompleteExtender returns no results (specifically, if the user searches for something that's not in the list/database). I have this JS code now:
[Code]....
How would I modify this to check if the list is null? Currently it seems to just leave the value as it was previously.
In web config file I have add key values specified.
In the formview I have labels on edit , item and insert mode that I want to display all the time by getting those values from web config. I'm able to do that with no problem but when I change the modes between edit to insert or item view, I lose those label values until I hit the "select" twice from the Gridview, those values re-appear. Below is the snippet of the code. What do I need to do to retain the category values all the time?
I have seen several websites that show you a real time update of what's going on in the database. An example could be. A stock ticker website that shows stock prices in real time Showing data like "What other users are searching for currently.." I'd assume this would involve some kind of polling mechanism that queries the database every few seconds and renders it on a web page. But the thought scares me when I think about it from the performance standpoint.
In an application I am working on, I need to display the real time status of an operation that a user has submitted. Users wait for the process to be completed. As and when an operation is completed, the status is updated by another process (could be a windows service). Should I query the database every second to get the updated status?
I have a registration page I enter the details of the customers and redirect to another page for capturing photo and I come back to the registration page. I want to retain all the values i entered when i land on the registration page.
To me this should be much easier, but I can't seem to retain the values that are put in the Insert template upon a validation failure or when the sql fails. This will prevent the user from having to retype everything agin in the event of a failure.
As you can see I am using the Sub Insert_Click and not using an insert through the wizard. so the fields are unbound textboxes on the form. There are 2 dropdowns that provide choices for the other fields.
I pasted in the code using the text only option becuase the format was getting messed up. I probably need more background on why the fields are blanking out.
I don't know why, but even using update panel, my postback method updates the entire page. I'm using a master page with aspScriptManager inside. My ASP.Net code: <div> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="updProva" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:Panel ID="pnlProva" runat="server"> </asp:Panel> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </div>
The CodeBehind (C#) creating some RadioButtonList controls in my ASP.Net page, I'll post the main function and de Page_Load: createTest function [Code].... Finally, the Page_Load: [Code]....
I have a user control that I am explicitely calling from an aspx page. In page_load of hte aspx page I have the following, myControl = (DynamicTable)Page.LoadControl("../inc/DynamicTable.ascx"); Then in my code where I want it to execute the control, I have this pnlESDDEnrolled.Controls.Add(myControl); where pnlESDDEnrolled is the panel I am loading it into for display. So, I execute the aspx page, it links off to the user control, populates the control, returns back to the aspx page and the page dispalys with the user control in the middle of it. All is well.
The problem comes in when updates are made on the user control. Keep in mind, that other data is updated on the page as well, and the update button resides on the page, not the control. Anyway, when the update button is pushed, the button_click event is fired on the page, but the updates that I made on the user control are lost. Since the page loaded the user control and then the usercontrol executed the page unload method, the page has no knowledge of the user control anymore. Thus, when the update button on the page is pushed, I guess I am not really sure what happens with the updated data on the user control. All's I know, it is lost.
I thought my issue was related to the Validators not working in UpdatePanels but that does not seem to be the case.
All validators fire when they should but, the error warning message clears when the updatepanel updates.
for example...
textbox1 range 1 to 23. dropdown1 updates the updatepanel. enter 99 error shows, but will disapear when I change value of dropdown1. textbox1 value still 99 so validator message should still show but it does not.
