I need to ask this question.I registered websitespark program and I have some tools.I have Server 2008, VS 2008 etc.I want to install Server 2008 and VS 2008 but I never use them together before. What are the advantages and disadvantages and also performance? We are developing web and win applications.

on SQL Server installation Center and I have "New Installation or add features to an existing installation" and the problem is when I click on this option installer prompts me to "Browse For SQL Server 2008 R2 Installation Media" As I mentioned I download the web platform from Microsoft/WebMatrix web page and I have not any installation media!
After i finished installing visual stuido 2008 it said SQL sever 2005 express returned an unexpected value, it looks like it didn't install properly
In the folder SQL 2005 express edition there is a folder called configuration tools with has 3 applications, is this normal?
There is no other folder under SQL 2005. I tried to re-install it and the same thing happened

Knowing the location, how I do import the project into new system?
Currently I'm in the process of deploying my ASP.net MVC 2 project on a Windows Server 2008 R2 web server. This web server already has the .net 4 Framework installed, but doesn't have any MVC dll's in the GAC.
So deployment on IIS succeeds, but when I start up the web application in the browser, it results in this message:
Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Mvc, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Of course I can Google myself too and it mainly:
Copying the MVC dll's (System.Web.Mvc.dll, .Routing.dll, etc) to the output directory;
Downloading an RTM version of ASP.net MVC 2 on top of .net 3.5 Framework. Neither of them I'd like to do. I just want to install ASP.net MVC 2 to the GAC of my web server. So my question is:
Which installation does actually contain ASP.net MVC 2 for installation on top of .net 4?
install Visual Studio 2010 (with ASP.net framework 4.0) and when I try to install SQL Server Express 2008 I get an error message telling me that .NET framework 3.5 SP1 is required.I know in the installation of VS 2010 SQL Server Express is installed. When I look at sql server 2008 all I see is import export data link.
and the configuration tools.
In the configuration tools I see the following:
sql server configuration manager.
sql server error and usage reporting
sql server installation center.
So I figure sql server 2008 was not fully installed.d

my system i am having sql server 2005 standard edition.now i installed sql server 2008 r2 express edition and i am getting error like.."the service did not respond to the start or contorl request in a timely fashion"...

I got an error on install when it claims I have a previous ver of vs2008 and need to install sp1 which I have. After installing sp1 I still get same error.
I tried to install VS 2008 on my different systems already having Framework 2 installed, it failed to install. I tried it may a times even on different systems. I've been running a version of SQL 2008 Express for sometime, however after getting some free software off Microsoft I updated my version of Visual Studio to professional and then tried to update my Express version of SQL to 2008 R1.
I downloaded it from the MS site and proceeded to work through the pre-installation instructions, however I wasn't offered the opportunity of installing a new instance and was then advised there was nothing to upgrade on the version I had installed.

Currenty the websites are built using ASP.NET 3.5 (and a blog in PHP), is there anything that needs to be done to ensure the sites (forget the blog) still work on the new server? I'll no doubt upgrade the sites over time to use .Net 4 or MVC, but for the moment the transition needs to be almost seamless.
