View 6 RepliesI have a website designed using .net 1.1 and upgraded to 2.0. It works fine on Win NT. However, the same application is not working on Win 2003 64 bit server. I read some article on web. Everyone recommends that IIS should run on 32bit mode in win 2003 server if the app was orginated from 32bit. So, I made IIS to run on 32bit mode. The problem is now asp.net config tab is missing in IIS. Is it recommended to convert IIS to run on 32bit in Win 2003 64 bit edition? If so, how do I keep the asp.net configuration tab? Why cant the 32 bit app unable to run on 64bit? Any conversion tool available to upgrade from 32bit to 64bit?

Now I shifted my asp.net 2005 application on windows 2008 R2 server. But my Password hashcode logic is not working due to 64bit windows 2008 server architecture & 64 bit IIS 7. I dont want to set IIS on 32bit mode.
So How can I check my 32bit user password on windows 2008 64bit server with 64 bit IIS without changing hashcode logic?Â
I'm trying to deploy a site to a 64bit OS. I'm deploying to IIS6. The site was developed on a 32bit server. The site deployed correctly however it's trying to access a COM component and that is failing.
I believe the error is occurring because the COM component is a 64bit version on the 64bit OS. And IIS6 is running in 32bit mode on the 64bit server.
I'd like to confirm this but I can't seem to find a definitive way to check if IIS6 is in 32bit mode or 64bit mode.
Would someone know the best way to check if IIS6 is in 64bit or 32bit mode?

I'm trying to install a 32-bit ASP.NET application onto a 64-bit IIS server running on Windows Server 2008. This is a clean installation of the operating system with no other applications installed.As a prerequisite for our installation, we run the 32-bit version of aspnet_regiis -iIt fails with the following message: The error indicates that IIS is not installed on the machine. Please install IIS before using this tool.Additionally:IIS is definitely installed. The 64 bit version of aspnet_regiis runs cleanly without warnings.€œEnable 32 bit applications" is set to True in the DefaultAppPool's Advanced Settings.
The IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility" component is installed.We have a test VM where this error occurs as well as test VM where both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of aspnet_regiis run without errors. We've had no luck distinguishing the differences between the two test VMs.We have struggled with this issue for several days to no avail.
Can someone tell me if its possible to run both a 64bit compiled web site and a 32bit compiled website on the same IIS7.5 machine. The core OS would be Windows 2008 R2 64bit. I looked around and can only find how to switch the appPools to 32 or 64. But the question I want answered is can you have one appPool 32bit and another 64bit?
View 1 RepliesI've gone through the process of installing the environment of a large project which I'm involved with, on a new machine with Win7 32bit and Visual Studio 2008.I HAVE to install ASP.NET Ajax Extensions but being so old at it is, it requires .Net Framework 2.0 or 3.0 instaled. The installers of 2.0 or 3.0 will not install and I just get a massage that I need to install them (2.0 or 3.0) through the Windows Components dialog ("Turn Windows features on and of" dialog). This is not possible because the only framework available there is 3.5.1 which is no good for the Ajax Extensions.Removing the 3.5.1 in order to install 2.0 or 3.0 doesn't work either and result in the same massage.Since Microsoft haven't yet come up with some new extension package (as far as know), I'm stuck in a dead end. What do I do?

View 3 RepliesI have an app that I've built with VS 2008 Pro, which I believe uses version 3.5 of the .Net Framework. I want to run this app on an older machine to test the layout with some older browsers. The site is simple static site. This older machine doesn't have version 3.5 of the framework installed.
If I install just the 3.5 Framework on this older machine, can I then run the site in the browser without having VS2008 or VWD 2008 installed? I want to tweak the css in for the older browsers.
I just upgraded to VS2010 and am having issues with my development machine. I have a number of MVC sites hosted on my local IIS (Windows 7, 64 bit). Before the installation of VS2010/.NET 4 everything ran fine. Now I'm getting errors of:HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server ErrorCalling LoadLibraryEx on ISAPI ilter "C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv4.0.30319aspnet_filter.dll" failedI have only found one other person with this problem and he had no resolution. View 3 RepliesI have two identical applications setup on IIS on different virtual directories (I have done some workaround to ensure that they both have the same application name). Is there a way to share session id across two asp.net web applications?
Since I'm storing the session in StateServer, they should both be getting the same session data, however, a different session id is created everytime I go from application a to applicatino b. Wouldn't this happen in a load balancing scenario as well? Where when I go to www.test.com, it would redirect that request to server a, and then if I hit it again, it would go to server b, but since it's a different web application, it would create a new session id?
I've encountered a problem while installing Visual Studio 2010 on Windows 7, I've tried to modify the privileges of the destination folders to no avail, I've also tried to delete everything related to it with a removal tool. The problem is that the installation is always unsuccessful at the same point, providing me a Blue Screen of Death (twice) and the following error message (infinite amount of occasions):

It's Microsoft SqlServer 2005 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. Is IIS required on my machine in order for BIDS to be installed? I just manually uninstalled SqlServer 2005 and reinstalled and still cannot see BIDS in Visual Studio Is there anything I should check or what components are needed to install BIDS?
View 1 RepliesI just downloaded and installled the Microsoft Windows Azure SDK yesterday for the first time and I am having issues running the application as I all I am getting is 503 errors. I run Windows Server 2008 R2 on my development machine and even tested it on another co-workers 2008 R2 and couldn't even compile the application. He got this error instead "A problem occurred while trying to set the "References" parameter for the IDE's in-process compiler. Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component."
From within my Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V Virtual Windows 7 x86 enviroment, I was able to successfully build and run the Windows Azure SDK and it even showed the base ASP.NET application.So my question is, does the Windows Azure SDK for Visual Studio 2010 w/ Visual Studio 2010 SP 1 installed not work under Microsoft Server 2008 R2?
We have a website portal hosted in Windows 2003 server. For security reasons we are using different windows Login user say (xxxx) for signin other than Administrator. Now with this user (xxxx) name I installed .net Windows Application. It was working fine. For some reasons I renamed the original windows Login user(xxxx) to different say (yyyy). Now this .net Windows Application is not working with (yyyy) and even it is not allowing me to uninstall it.

View 6 RepliesUp to now I've only really worked with ASP.NET (both WebForms and MVC) but have never tried my hand at building an application for Windows. I've been working at moving one of my Web Forms pages to an executable but things just don't flow as easily. I've got it to work but I'm not sure if "best practices" (or at least the practices I'm used to) translate between the two technologies. For example, I'm filling a DataGridView in the app using Linq to Sql which is taking the column header names from the "select new {}" but that doesn't give me control over additional fields I may want to add and if I do they are both tacked into the DataGridView. I'm not familiar with binding without <itemtemplates> and such. Can anyone suggest a tutorial or book to get me started?

View 5 RepliesI just changed my NHibernate application to use the Unit of Work pattern. I then continued through this tutorial to the part where it starts using HttpContext to determine whether or not the code is running in an web application. Using Visual Studio 2010 I get the error "The name 'HttpContext' does not exist in the current context". So I added a reference to System.Web and imported the namespace. The sample code then checks whether or not HttpContext.Current is null to determine whether this is a web or windows application. Is this the best way of doing that?

In order to debug this project, add an executable project to this solution which references the library project. Set the executable project as the startup project."Trying to debug the code in windows applications. It throws the above error.Googled, most of them say to download the exe file. But when I've right click the Project ->add reference-> browse -> bin-> debug -> .dll downloaded, still throws the same error. Unable to locate the executable file.
