I want to execute my asp.net application where Windows XP Service Pack 3 is installed + VS 4.0 framework is installed and IIS 5.1 is installed. The program is not running yet. I have SQL server management studio express install on one machine.
I am able to connect to that machine or able to ping that machine from my computer.
I have code which return me the SQL server instances on same network. Using that I am able to get that SQL server instance. I have configured SQL express to access remote connection. i.e.
Configured SQL express to accept named / TCP IP instance connection. Started Browser service.
My machine settings My machine has been configured to set dynamic IP address using DHCP protocol
When I am trying to connect to above mentioned SQL server I am getting error that "Failed to connect SERVER NAME\SQLEXPRESS".
But if I configured my machine with manual IP address and default gateway I am able to connect to same SQL server.
I got the solution to connect to that server but I don't know why I am facing such problem. And also let me know that is the solution I am using is correct or not?

I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 R2 by installing MS WebMatrix from web[URL].After Installation the WebMatix platform I tried to install the the SQL Server 2008 R2 but there is no new installation option on SQL Server installation Center and I have "New Installation or add features to an existing installation" and the problem is when I click on this option installer prompts me to "Browse For SQL Server 2008 R2 Installation Media" As I mentioned I download the web platform from Microsoft/WebMatrix web page and I have not any installation media!
Is there a component I have to install on my IIS web server to support use of AJAX in projects developed in VS 2008 with the AJAX Controls and Extensions? I downloaded the AJAX Control Toolkit Extensions binary but there's no installable file.ASP.NET AJAX features require that the System.Web.Extensions assembly be installed in the global assembly cache (GAC) of the server where the Web application is hosted. If the assembly is available, your application and any associated controls in the App_Code folder or in an assembly the Bin folder can use AJAX features. For example, they can register scripts or createUpdatePanel controls.http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb907614.aspx
I follow the instruction of installing a new feature with the application SQLManagementStudio_x86_ENU.exe and I get to a fail telling me that VS 2008 needs to be upgraded to SP1.
This I have done several times with the final message saying successfully installed yet 'About' shows only
I am getting an error saying "ASPNET account is not present in this machine" when I try to install Sitecore on my machine after I installed visual studio 2008..

- I installed Visual Studio 2008 and .NET framework version 3.5 SP1 on that machine
- I can see that ASPNET User group account Under Users and Groups and it doesn't have "Account is locked out" ticked under general tab
- Also I ran aspnet_regiis -i many times but didn't help; actually I red in one post that I should delete ASPNeT account first and run the script but still didn't help
- when I view http://localhost on IE I can view the ASP home page without any problem but Firefox asks me to enter user name and password.

We are developing a web site and in this site we have a link to a clickonce deployed application. This is a direct link to the executable (Remote share execution). For this to be possible the client must have .NET framework SP2 installed. The problem is i need to get the SP version of the clients machine. I can access client information using Request.UserAgent but this doesn't have a clue about the service pack.
I need to ask this question.I registered websitespark program and I have some tools.I have Server 2008, VS 2008 etc.I want to install Server 2008 and VS 2008 but I never use them together before. What are the advantages and disadvantages and also performance? We are developing web and win applications.
e are developing an ASP.Net application. The requirement is to install and run an app (say console app developed using .Net) on the client machine through out ASP.Net application. How can we install this app (and .Net Framework required to run the app) when the user access our web app
Seemed simple. I clicked on install now, downloaded and ran the Web Installer. First, ASP.Net MVC didn't install. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything twice without luck. The Web Installer insists ASP.NET MVC is already installed. Second, given a nice menu of CMS dbs to try, I tried Atomz, N2CMS and Umbraco. Atom won't work with the net version downloaded via this download, so why is it even included here? I could not figure out what N2CMS or Umbraco wanted in terms of user names and passwords, so those CMS's didn't install. So, what all do I really need to create a website with ASP.Net MVC? Do I need Visual Studio Express (don't we have to pay for this?). I have Win 7 64 Home Premimum.
Because of security reasons, we will not be able to use IIS on our local machines. I'm sure that many of you have faced the same problem, so how did you solve it? Here are the options that we're looking at:Create a VLAN that is isolated from the network for development. This will allow us to use any software, including IIS, that we want. A disadvantage is testing Web services with external organizations, which can be overcome by using stubs. Not use a VLAN and use only the ASP.NET Development Server that comes with Visual Studio, and then deploying that code to the development server. This has the disadvantage of not being able to replicate the production environment during local development.
I have created a MSI file for my windows service but at the time installtion it is prompting set Service login for login name, Password and confirm password. So I am not able to install that service.
