I have vs 2003 installed on my machine and recently I installed vs2008. I believe this two version can run simultaneously on one machine. but I'm having problem running application written in .net 1.1 after installing .net 3.5. this is the error msg i see when I open asp.net application written .net 1.1 "HTTP:/1.1 500 Internal Server Error" Is there a proper way of installing vs 2008 to eliminate this problem I'm experiencing right now?
Anyone have any experience running VS on a mac?I have to learn php and my sql and my office is all on macs. But I have to still support the asp.net programs ive already written.
I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 R2 by installing MS WebMatrix from web[URL].After Installation the WebMatix platform I tried to install the the SQL Server 2008 R2 but there is no new installation option on SQL Server installation Center and I have "New Installation or add features to an existing installation" and the problem is when I click on this option installer prompts me to "Browse For SQL Server 2008 R2 Installation Media" As I mentioned I download the web platform from Microsoft/WebMatrix web page and I have not any installation media!
On Windows XP I installed the .Net Framework 2.0 and my test aspx page worked fine. I then installed the .Net framework Service Pack 2 and then it breaks .Net. I get a Server Unavailable message and when I run aspnet_regiis -i I get a C0000005 error with message 'The Application failed to initialize properly.' FYI, I have Symantec Endpoint Protection installed on my PC.
How Can I Install CRredist.Msi Package on Web Server, I Am Facing Problem Of Hosting ap.net Application With Crystal Report. I Have Gone Through all Post and Tutorial at MSDN and asp.Net Please Help Me To Install Crystal Report Runtime on web Server.
I've written some code using the REST starter kit and it works fine on my development machine. However, when I upload it to our server the page gives me the following error message... CS1684: Warning as Error: Reference to type 'System.Runtime.Serialization.Json.DataContractJsonSerializer' claims it is defined in 'c:WINNTassemblyGAC_MSILSystem.ServiceModel.Web3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35System.ServiceModel.Web.dll', but it could not be foundI've removed code line by line and it appears that the following line of code is triggering the error...HttpContent newOrganizationContent = HttpContentExtensions.CreateXmlSerializable(newOrganizationXml);Really haven't got a clue how to fix it. I assumed it might be because it needs a newer version of the framework to run, but looking in IIS it says it's running version 2.0.50727 which I think is the lates version because it says that even when we're using framework 3.5
I'm working on a SharePoint portal site, while user should be redirected to it from SAP Portal, both of the two portal, user is going to be authenticated through Active Directory. So is there a way to have a single sign on for both of them, so user login to SAP portal and then be redirected to sharepoint portal without providing his login credentials again?
I am getting an error saying "ASPNET account is not present in this machine" when I try to install Sitecore on my machine after I installed visual studio 2008..
- My machine is running on windows XP sevice pack 3
- I installed Visual Studio 2008 and .NET framework version 3.5 SP1 on that machine
- I can see that ASPNET User group account Under Users and Groups and it doesn't have "Account is locked out" ticked under general tab
- Also I ran aspnet_regiis -i many times but didn't help; actually I red in one post that I should delete ASPNeT account first and run the script but still didn't help
- when I view http://localhost on IE I can view the ASP home page without any problem but Firefox asks me to enter user name and password.
I am not sure this is the forums but I dont know where to write this and this is an EMERGENCY ::I had windows 2003 server. on C: and I have installed windows 2008 server.I had SQL server installed and all of the database files stored inside c:program filessql server....PROBLEM is that after I installed 2008 server I can see 2 folders of program files one for x86 and the other for 64 bits.
I have looked at nearly every single WCF Rest PUT/POST issues on SO here and have still been unable to determine why I am unable to PUT or POST to my web service but am able to call a test GetTime method via GET. This particular service exchanges custom credential information (username, password and some other information) for a token. This token information is encrypted and added to the header of subsequent requests to other web services so that username/passwords don't have to be passed around everywhere. All web service calls are still treated as stateless, but require this auth header information rather username/passwords to access secured service operations.

I have also checked in IIS 7 the handler mappings for *.svc and checked that 'all verbs' are enabled.
We have an SAP portal, which is not user friendly from clients point of view, we as ASP.NET developers suggest to use ASP.NET as a presentation layer for SAP backend system instead of SAP portal. We already integrated successfully to SAP backend for data insert and retrieval. So, we need to show ASP.NET power to SAP Team! How an ASP.NET portal will be much better than SAP portal. We though of AJAX functionality, look & feel of UI, and application mobility (cross browser).
So, what are the pros and cons of an ASP.NET portal compared to SAP portal? What are the issues SAP portal has, ASP.NET doesn't?Briefly, how to convince decision makers of ASP.NET over SAP from UI/Performance points of view?
I just installed ASP.NET MVC 3 RC on my Windows Server 2008 64-bit and I now get the following error. System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'Void System.Web.Mvc.GlobalFilterCollection.Add(System.Object, System.Nullable`1<Int32>)'. Here's the site: [URL]

Why does the Web Platform Installer force you to install SQL 2008 Express?
I have a production server which already has an installation of SQL 2000 but no web development tools are installed. I would prefer not to add SQL 2008 Express if it is not necessary. The server in addition to being the primary intranet webserver is also DC, APP SERVER, FILE SERVER and basically does not need to handle an extra instance of SQL.
The main purpose of this is just one of convenience to have the web development app on the RDP Desktop instead of attaching to the server in some manner (ftp/unc share).
I can't seem to get the mvc 2 to install. I have a copy of visual studio 2008 already installed and working. I'm using vista ultimate 32-bit and I've ran it normally just by double clicking it and also by doing a run as administrator. Both fail with the same log entries. It always exits with code 1603.Here's the bottom portion of the install.log file:
'Microsoft ASP.NET MVC 2' RunCheck result: Install Needed Verifying file integrity of :UsersglenAppDataLocalTempVSD1766.tmpMvcRuntimeAspNetMVC2.msi WinVerifyTrust returned 0 File trusted Installing using command 'C:Windowssystem32msiexec.exe' and parameters ' -"C:UsersglenAppDataLocalTempVSD1766.tmpMvcRuntimeAspNetMVC2.msi" -q ' Will attempt to elevate process. I am getting really fed up trying to install MVC 3, I have bloged about the problem here - [URL] To sum it up, after ages of digging around, I finally managed to track it down to the aspnetwebpages.msi component. I am not sure what to do next as I have tried to repair, remove, force delete as well as a few other things, but I am just getting no where. I have a normal system - I upgraded to Windows 7 SP1 yesterday, VS 2010 SP1 today and have never had any Betas installed apart from Web Matrix which I uninstalled today (after the VS SP1).
