How Can I Install CRredist.Msi Package on Web Server, I Am Facing Problem Of Hosting ap.net Application With Crystal Report. I Have Gone Through all Post and Tutorial at MSDN and asp.Net Please Help Me To Install Crystal Report Runtime on web Server.
I have installed Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition along with SQL Server Express 2008 on Windows Vista and Windows 7. On Windows Vista, when I click the "ASP.Net Configuration" icon in the Solution Explorer and then click on the "Security" link, a new ASPNETDB.MDF file is created in the App_Data folder of any new project I have open. The same actions on my "Windows 7 Ultimate" machine will result in a message along the lines of "Your Data Source is not configured properly. This may be because the server has an invalid name or you do not have the proper credentials or you do not have the proper permissions"(not at Windows 7 machine right now so this isn't verbatim)
I'm using IIS 7.5 on Server 2008 R2 to configure a .Net 4-based website. I've used the Web Deployment Tool to import a known-good, 32-bit Windows 7-based IIS server package. As far as I can tell, the 2008-based IIS server and application pool are now properly configured to use .Net 4, and that the server setup is identical to that of the known-good configuration. The problem I'm having is that when I attempt to load a page on the new site, IIS returns a compilation error of the .Net framework's web.config. The error is copied below. It's my understanding that a properly-configured server shouldn't have any problem compiling this file, so I'm looking for some pointers on what I can do to resolve this. I've verified that:
both .Net 4 and .Net 3.5.1 are installed on the server, the 'default' page at http://localhost loads properly http://localhost/Services, the root folder of my application, can be browsed commenting out the offending System.Xml.Linq namespace simply results in a compilation error of some other namespace in the same group.
Server Error in '/Services' Application.

The HRIS app in my company is a asp.net web application which started showing bugs after IE 8.0 was rolled out on our company intranet. Few people open multiple instances of the app with different credentials, now since IE 8.0 has this session sharing feature on different browser windows, the sessions in both windows become the same but the data rendered on controls of the page is different and that results in incosistent data going into the database. The application is huge and has a userbase of more than 5000. Is there any way other than changing thesession to cookieless. One approach could be to restrict only one instance of the app on a mchine at a time. But I am not able to find a way to implement this. Looking for a solution which would have minimum impact.

What is the guideline on installing the application dlls in GAC? I have not never done that. Is installing shared dllas like mvc2 dlls in GAC is a good approach?
What will happen in this case where I have an old version of the same dll in GAC and a new version of the same dll installed in the bin folder? Will always the GAC dll being used by the application rather than the dll in its bin folder?
I've been tasked to update and install a new version of an old ActiveX control in our Aspx web application .The actual updating is fairly straightforward, but the installing is giving me headaches. Here is what I tried:
In the VB6 editor, get the properties of the ActiveX project, and check off the "autoincrement" checkbox in the "Make" tab.Set the version to 1.0.12 Create a new CAB with the Package&Deployment wizard. Copy this CAB to my website.
Then in the Aspx itself, I update the version of the activeX as follows:
After this, I delete the prtlabel.dll and prtlabel.inf files from the "c:windowsdownloaded program files" folder.
Problem is, when I then visit the web page and it asks me to install the activeX, it doesn't actually do it (no error message appears though). When I go back to the "c:windowsdownloaded program files" folder, ONLY the prtlabel.inf file has been copied there, NOT the prtlabel.dll file.
Is there a special procedure to put a new version of an ActiveX control in your website?
Why does the Web Platform Installer force you to install SQL 2008 Express?
I have a production server which already has an installation of SQL 2000 but no web development tools are installed. I would prefer not to add SQL 2008 Express if it is not necessary. The server in addition to being the primary intranet webserver is also DC, APP SERVER, FILE SERVER and basically does not need to handle an extra instance of SQL.
The main purpose of this is just one of convenience to have the web development app on the RDP Desktop instead of attaching to the server in some manner (ftp/unc share).
The following code is being used to disable a Submit button once it has been clicked. This works great on desktop browsers and most BlackBerry mobile browsers.
when using a BlackBerry Storm clicking the submit button causes the device to just reload the page. If I remove this code the Storm browser submits the page just fine. I need to disable the button when the browser is capable of doing so but do not want to affect browsers that are not JavaScript capable.
I want to read write excel file in my application without installing the office on my server. Means my server don't have any excel (MS office) installation. Is it necessory to install the office on server to excute the program of read or write the excel file.
We have created an ASP application with MS Access as back end. We have implemented this web application on our server machine and accessed the same from on my local machine.
Our application works fine when only one user accesses it (All insert, update works fine). But when multiple users connect to this application and try to update the database, then application get crashed. As per our knowledge, this is happening because of access database get locked, when one user open it in exclusive mode.
While running an app from the server where it is deployed the website works fine, however when trying to access it from a different machine(placed in same network), using the same credentials, it shows that I am not an authenticated user.
I have a TypeConverter (I followed this example to a 'T' ). It works perfectly within a console application but I get the dreaded "Unable to generate code for a value of type 'className'. This error occurred while trying to generate the property value for...".This appears in the Event Viewer as a "HttpParseException" with a description of "A parser error has occurred."
This occurs ONLY if I attempt to set the Property implementing the TypeConverter Attribute from within the ASPX, if I don't set the Property the page loads fine. Trouble is, becuase it is a Parse Error I am having a heck of a time debugging.
Again, this works fine within a console app, but only fials when used within an aspx app.
I have a ASP.NET application. From that, User register, User will get email after registration. My Req : When user click on link provided in email. Then it should go to my ASP.Net application page . That page should install a wincows application on Client system through web ( I was inspired by Microsoft Windows update from Microsoft site)
To me this should be much easier, but I can't seem to retain the values that are put in the Insert template upon a validation failure or when the sql fails. This will prevent the user from having to retype everything agin in the event of a failure.
As you can see I am using the Sub Insert_Click and not using an insert through the wizard. so the fields are unbound textboxes on the form. There are 2 dropdowns that provide choices for the other fields.
I pasted in the code using the text only option becuase the format was getting messed up. I probably need more background on why the fields are blanking out.
I created a simple .NET 4.0 WebSite through VisualStudio 2010 using the Installed Template for ASP.NET Web Site. This brought me to "Choose Location" where I chose Local IIS, then Create New Web Application. This created the template app with all of the local files within IIS.This complies fine, but Im constantly getting the HTTP 403 Error "the website declined to show this webpage"I checked IIS properties for this and its set to 4.0 and the Directory Security has Anonymous Access enabled. Allow IIS to control password is also checked.I just installed VS 2010 on my new computer, and Im trying to get this configured so I can run 4.0 apps through IIS.
