JQuery :: Animate Effect Work But The Render Items Are Messed Up?
Aug 20, 2010
I have a very unique problem, humm i think. I am using a jquery effect that animate bounce effect, i have a line in my javascript pageLoad function $("#UserBrowserInfoDIV").show('bounce');
- the effects run smoothly but what it does is mess up the bolded text in the div. I have try the items inside the div without bolding and it works fine and no render problem but when bolded the text that are bolded is quite messed up, and barely readable. is there anything else i can do i really would like use this effect.
P.S all the effect have the same render problem, and i am using ie8 under compatibility mode.

I have the following code
[code]...
to expand a textbox when it gets focus. The expand occurs, however the blinking cursor disapears, at least in Firefox!
Edited: The textarea is still focused, and i can type on it.
Why does this happen? Is there a way to show it again?

I am new to javascript and jquery. I have written some javascript code for some client validation.
document.getElementById(spnError).style.display = 'block';
This is how I am showing a span if there is some validation issues in the form. I want to use Jquery to show this span. I would like to slide it down slowly.

I have a simple page with 4 thumbs. All I want to do is when the mouse is hovering over a link, the thumb to move up like it's hovering. When the mouse leaves the link, then the the thumb moves down to it's original spot.
I can't seam to find any tutorials on how to create that effect. I tried bing and google but none of them are what I'm trying to do.

I was looking the Highlight effect of Jquery's. That effect is really the one i would like to add in my webpage.
By looking at the the source code, i noticed that the effect will be reproduced on user's click of the div.
$("div").click(function () {
$(this).effect("highlight", {}, 3000);
});
In my webpage i have an ImageButton
<asp:ImageButton ID="btnFavorite" runat="server" ImageUrl="~/Images/Favorite.png"/>
I would love to perform the highlight effect to the div, when the user clicks on the image button. Is it possible?
UPDATE: If it is possible, could i use something like "OnClientClick=" of the ImageButton, since the imagebutton controls are added dynamically to the webpage?

i have two update panels as follows (when linkbutton is clicked i'm trying to highlight div)
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:Linkbutton id="btnChange" runat="server"
[code]...
I'm overriding OnLoadComplete and registering this script on page as follows
ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(Me, Me.GetType(), "divHigh", "$('#shdr').effect('highlight', {}, 3000);", True)
This highlights the div after postback but the timeout value doesn't work it continues to show highlighted color and doesn't change back.

i am able to click on the ImageButton and apply the Jquery highlight effect to a different div
$("#btnFavorite").click(function() {
// selector for element to highlight
$("#theDiv").effect("highlight", {}, 3000);
});
Now i would like to extend the question as follows. I add the ImageButtons to the webpage dynamically, and i would like to apply the effect on the div for every ImageButton click.
<asp:ListView ID="ListView1" runat="server">
<layouttemplate>
<asp:PlaceHolder id="itemPlaceholder" runat="server" />
</layouttemplate>
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:ImageButton ID="btnFavorite" runat="server" ImageUrl="~/Images/Favorite.png"/>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:ListView>
What should i do in that case? By using ItemDataBound of the listview and adding attributes like btnFavorite.Attributes.Add("onmouseclick", "doSomething") or what?

using asp.net 4 and vs 2010 I have a listview that displays data from a database. I have to configure it to display all column data where present, however, not all columns have data, with the result that blank spaces get rendered where this data would normally be displayed.
The code:
[Code]....
So, for example, some of the individuals that exist in this table might no longer be associated with a specific department, institution or have data in the "Address2" column.

I have a combo box that looks great in the designer, the list of choices are perfect. But when I view the ASP code, or the published webpage the choices are seriously garbled. I have tried adding items, but it does not seem to regenerate the code. Any ideas why it happened and what I should do? I do most of my editing through the designer GUI. Note the blank items and even items mixed up together: TVCricket
asp Code:
<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlFoundOut" runat="server"> <asp:ListItem Selected="True">(Pick how you found out about us)</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Another Store</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Banner at Arena</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>TVCricket</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>West NewsmagazineClear</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Driving By</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Friend/Co-worker</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Internet</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Mall Sign</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Online Phone Book</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Phonebook (paper)</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Radio</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem></asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem></asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Other</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Other Magazine</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Other News Paper</asp:ListItem></asp:DropDownList>

I have a WebControl that I'm creating and when I'm in the designer...you really can't tell what it is...see Attachment 1 below. See Attachment 2 for what it looks like rendered in the Browser (IE & Firefox). What would cause this. I really can't even throw controls onto the UC looking like this. I have to go into the markup and do the drag and dropping.

I had problems with jQuery fancy checkbox plugin [URL]
However after that I want to "combine" 2 plugins, the one mentioned in first post:
[URL]
and this one ("Safari"):
[URL]
So I've changed the picture of checkbox and wanted to add hover effects as it is shown in second link (according to state of checkbox).
However since I'm quite noob with jQuery (and JS) the thing only works fine on "default" mode, when checkbox is not selected or checked on page load.
JS:
[Code]....
CSS:

MemoryStream export = new MemoryStream();
iCalendarSerializer serializer = new iCalendarSerializer(iCal);
serializer.Serialize(export,System.Text.Encoding.UTF8);
return export;
so I am using the C# DDay.iCal library for exporting my calendars. Serialize takes in a "stream" so I passed it a memory stream. I now have a generic handler that calls the method that contains the above code.
public class CalendarHandler : IHttpHandler
{
private Calendar service;
private Membership membershipS;
public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context)
{
service = new Calendar ();
membershipS = new Membership (null);
string userName = context.User.Identity.Name;
Guid userId = membershipS.GetUsersId(userName);
context.Response.ContentType = "text/calendar";
// calls the export calendar(the code that showed above that uses dDay ical.
var t = service.ExportCalendar(userId);
t.WriteTo(context.Response.OutputStream);
}
public bool IsReusable
{
get
{
return false;
}
}
}
So now I wrote the icalendar to the Outputstream. Now I have a jquery post that goes to this method and now I am not sure how to take the OutputStream result that the jquery post will get and make it popup with a save dialog box.
$('#ExportCalendar').click(function(e)
{
$.post('../Models/CalendarHandler.ashx', null, function(r)
{
});
return false;
});

Assume the JSON returned is
{"2010143545":{"info":[1,"soccer"]},
"2010143547":{"info":[0,"Basketball"]}
}
How do I use JQuery to render the array on ASP.NET page? More precisely, what kind of HTML template do I need to set to stuff the JSON with JQuey?

I have a dynamic page which has repeating input text fields and is build using Jquery. I use C#.net to get the data to be displayed on the input fields. My question is on how do I handle single Quotes and double quotes while rendering the input field. I create jquery string on page render and uses that to render the input fields on the page. But if any of the input fields contains a html tag with double quotes then it screws up the whole page. Let me know I this make sense or need more explanation.

I have a page that supports multiple languages (the user can change the language at any time).I update the thread's culture based on the user selection in the Initialize Culture method.
I also update the response object based on the code page for the selected country and set its charset to the WebName of the encoding used (if i don't update the response object based on the code page, then the data bound to controls gets garbled). the resource files are also localized based on the code page.
After doing the above changes, the page is getting displayed correctly in the browser.
However, when the user enters data in one of the Asian languages, the text gets all messed up. The drop down list actually throws the invalid callback or postback argument exception.
On checking the request.contentEncoding i found that it was still UTF-8 (set in web.config).
If I change the request.ContentEncoding during BeginRequest event, the input comes in correctly. But I am not sure of the user selected language this early in the page cycle.
