I have an ASP.NET MVC view. I want the view to load and then do a post using ajax to load some secondary content. I know the Ajax.ActionLink methods etc. but I want the post to happen automatically when the page is loaded. And not based on some user action.

There will be a menu above the div and when a user clicks on an item from the menu, the appropriate page will be loaded into the main div.I'd like to know if there are any cons and pros of choosing this pattern for a web application.So far I'm avare that the browser back button and history/url will be gone.

I load the current email body into the Content property of a new HTMLEditor.Editor object. When it loads the HTML, though, it looks like it does above; it doesn't "process" it. Can the Editor process the HTML?
Also, when I do edit HTML in the object and submit, the Editor's Content includes "<" instead of "<", etc. Do I have to manually deal with that?
In part of my web page, I have couple of asp:image Thumbnails, onclick I use ajax modal popup extender to show the imgae in full size which are working fine, what I need to add is to have a processing image or indicator both in thumbnail and modal popup extender, I also have ajax autocomplete that is working fine, I need to add some indicator or processing image to it as soon as user start typing a word.

There are also other inputs for the entire household and one button at the bottom of the page that is intended to save the changes, or insert a new household depending on the situation. The number of rows is dynamic and the user can add and remove displayed rows. This is fine for a new household, but on an existing one I need it to delete the member from the household. I can do this easily right away, but I'm wondering if there is a way I can save or store the pending changes, basically the deleteonsubmit, insertonsubmit, and updates, till I call the submitchanges method when the user clicks save. View 8 RepliesI have update panel on the page to avoid postback and placed a dropdownlist control within that update panel. DrodownList is filled with Category names and also it's autopostback set to True.
Now whenever dropdownlist index change's on select, untill page loads complete data it should show mesage as "Loading.... in center and middle of the page and background should become bit transparent". And when page load completely with data then that background and message should get disappear.

View 3 RepliesI have 2 Imagebuttons on a nested Masterpage. When I click one button I want load a content page and change the image of the clicked button to show that it was selected. Loading the content page goes okay but I can't seem to programmically change the image of the button. I have been reading the posts on the life cycles of MasterPages and Content pages and I think I have the code in the correct page but it is not working. I am so confused now.

View 4 RepliesOld hand at ASP.NET, new to the UpdatePanel. I have a reporting page which executes a fairly length SQL query... takes about 10 seconds right now. What I would like to do is have my page fully render, with some placeholder text (Loading...) and then have the UpdatePanel kick off the actual time-consuming reporting process and render the report when it's done.
So... my theory is to use RegisterStartupScript() to kick this off and drop the string from GetPostBackEventReference() to trigger the UpdatePanel update. Some problems crop up:
1) Can I actually use GetPostBackEventReference w/ the UpdatePanel or do I need to trigger it some other way? Use this method on a button inside the Update Panel?
2) What event gets triggered when the postback reference is the UpdatePanel? It's not clear to me. I've got to call my databinding code somewhere! Again, maybe I need to use a button inside?

I have a Controller set up for a certain View. This View contains 2 partial Views (ascx files). Each partial View has a Controller method that yields its DataModel. The containing View doesn't currently display any data, but just serves as a container for the 2 partial Views.
Here's the problem: The Index action of the containing View runs, but the Controller methods for the partial Views don't, so I get a null exception when the Model tries to render out the data that should be available. I'm using MVC 1.0, which is something of a bummer, since it seems that the next version is supposed to have something other than "RenderPartial" that will assist with this very issue. However, since I'm stuck for the moment with 1.0, can anyone give some advice on getting the Controller methods to run for the partial Views?
I have a detailsview which has two ajax toolkit text editors and can take several seconds to load. I would like to display a spinner graphic while the detailsview is loading as it can also reload if the values of a dropdownlist inside the detailsview are changed. I had it working using an update panel and updatePanelAnimation but the problem is that the form has a file upload and it won't post the image from inside an update panel. I have the spinner inside a div element and I've been trying Page.Init, Page.LoadComplete and the like to try to display the spinner while the page is loading and hide it when the page has loaded. Can I somehow hook these up to the detailsview to display a spinner while it's loading?I'm also having a similar problem with a page of FileUploads. I would like to display a loading graphic while files are uploading but it's using FTP to upload the files and I can't find any way to do this.

View 3 RepliesI am building a website in which all of the site layout is in Master page and the content of the site is in the inherited pages. I have various links for navigation in which i simple use Response.Redirect to transfer to different pages. Now the problem is that I want to put the content place holder inside Ajax Update panel so that the postbacks are Asynchronous and I want to show the postback by an animated image inside Update Panel progress control. The problem is that I am unable to achieve this result and the entire page is posted back and rendered again. I have placed the content place holder inside the Ajax control toolkit's Update panel but it does not work. Is there any way that I can change the content of the content place holder to a new page with asynchronous postback.

I have change masterpage and change master page reference in each page to new masterpage name. then i open aspx page and open in design view no problem i can see new lay out colours and images, when i right click on file name and click on view on browser page open in IE but not images no styles. try on Firefox same problem.
