Looking For An Elegant Way To Upgrade Versioning Of JQuery Slowly?
Mar 8, 2011
We are wanting to upgrade from one version of jQuery to another. We use various online plug-in's and have written many of our own. The challenge now comes in the form of trying to SLOWLY MIGRATE all your scripted objects SLOWLY without a complete re-write. I have an idea on HOW to handle this:
BUT I HAVE QUESTIONS:
Is the idea below even a good idea? Can I (directly) tell each jQuery object where dependencies live?
If this is a bad idea...how do YOU handle it? Do I simply re-write EVERY object that happens to break upon upgrading? (sux!)
I upgraded my site to works with Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express, works with .net 4.0 and new ajax tools. My site is manage on our site . Now it work on win server 2003 sp2 frameworks 2.0 ajax ast.net 2.0
Is the new upgrade site will work on the web sever ?Should I Upgrade the server to framework 4.0 ?
We know that authorization's stuff is a cross cutting concern, and we do anything we could to avoid merge business logic in our views. But I still not find an elegant way to filter UI components (e.g. widgets, form elements, tables, etc) using the current user roles without contaminate the view with business logic. same applies for model binding.
Example Form: Product Creation Fields: Name Price Discount Roles: Role Administrator
Is allowed to see and modify the Name field Is allowed to see and modify the Price field Is allowed to see and modify the Discount
Role Administrator assistant
Is allowed to see and modify the Name Is allowed to see and modify the Price
Fields shown in each role are different, also model binding needs to ignore the discount field for 'Administrator assistant' role.
I'll try to make this concise. Anyways, I'm trying to only allow unique data to my database. my database. What I did before adding the entry is to use a Search Query for the value of the txtbox
"SELECT IDnum WHERE IDnum = '" & txtID & "'"
Then compare it with that of the txtbox.
IF objReader("IDNum") <> txtID.textbox then add the entry Else Display a Warning.
in the above code, I can detect the when the user entered an existing value. however, If the user entered a NEW (unique) value an error is Raised "Invalid attempt to read when no data is present" I hit the wall with this.So what I did, Since I can detect Duplicates and have errors when entering unique value, I used the
ON ERROR GOTO statement: I did it like this.
On Error Goto errHandler
If objReader("IDNum") = txtID.textbox then lbl1.text = "Existing Record" objReader.close() [code]....
The Code does what I need but its kinda long, I bet there is an elegant way to do this.
just a general design question that I'd like to hear some of your opinions on. I am designing a system for a client, and I'm using GridView' a lot. They need a lot of columns to be displayed in some of these, and I've had to resort to using a panel with a horizontal scrollbar. This presents some issues - keeping track of which row is which is difficult, even with alternating row colours, and it's generally pretty ugly. How have you dealt with these issues before?
My asp.net web application carries a version number which is incremented during every release. We're releasing every week internally for our test team and after four weeks or so to our client.
The question:
I want to include the version number on our application. What methods have you used so that your web app carries the version number? meta tag? simply added it to the footer?
I'm running ASP.NET 3.5 and using the AjaxControlToolkit.dll version 1.0.20229.42809 (reference locally in the in). This works fine on my machine. When I deploy to a server and the DLL in the bin is replaced with a newer version such as 3.0.30930.28736 I get the following error:
Could not load file or assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit, Version=1.0.20229.42809, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=28f01b0e84b6d53e' or one of its dependencies ...
This is fixed by using the bindingRedirect in the Web.config.
I like to know why ASP.NET doesn't automatically use the newer version of AjaxControlToolkit and needs the bindingRedirect to force it? I thought these DLLs are built to be backward compatible?
I would like to know why I am not able to see myclasslibrary.dllhaving strong name key and added in gac when adding through 'add referrence in solution explorer of vs2008 professional edition.I used .netconfiguration tool2.0 for adding assembly into Gac.In installation default folder of VS2008 I was able to see 2 folders 'C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727'and 'C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv1.1.4322' .Which Gac foder is getting used?using Gacutil.exe -l I did not find myssembly though it showed from configuration tool mmc.
What would cause a single webpage to load slowly? I have javascript within the <head> element. The html consists of 2 <div> elements and within these <div> elements are a bunch of <table> elements and that's it.
The functionality of this site is such that each <table> element contains data that during the "onload" event, these <table> elements are hidden. Each <table> elements is controlled by an HTML menu (the menu itself is an html table). When a menu item is clicked, it will either display or hide the <table> element depending on whether it is already displayed or hidden.
On Wikipedia you can edit a document and you can see what the different versions of the document looked like: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=ASP.NET&action=historysubmit&diff=342825222&oldid=337869406 Is there something free or some code samples out anywhere that will quickly let me create similar functionality with ASP.NET?
As noted by some developers, workflow versioning is somekind of headache in SharePoint.
I`m wondering is there a way I can version my aspx forms? For sure, i can version code behind assemblies, but if markup changes for any of my files in LAYOUTS folder? Is there versioning available for files or do i have to choose new filename for my form?
I should have been more specific. Yes, i have files under version control (i can restore previous versions etc), but i`m not talking about this kind of version control. But by deploying new Workflow Version, i must not delete old one, because it is still running on many items in SharePoint, but rather , as noted in previous links, deploy new one so i don't break execution of workflows.
But workflows will still break if i don't preserve old aspx forms used by users to interact with workflows.
So i must ensure that Assemblies with old version numbers used by old workflow exists (this one is ok, i just changed assembly version number and deployed to GAC)I must ensure that old workflow still uses old aspx form used users to interact with workflow, but new workflow version should use new aspx form with more options (how to do this?).
My website has 500 *.dll in bin folder. I write a page with only one TextBox At aspx file.and cs code as below. After iisreset , it costs a long time to open the page. The trace log show itspend much time between Begin PreRender and End PreRender. Please tell me why it takes so long ?
If the leave the webpage (any webpage) on my web application for a while (say 15 min), if I again click on another page it takes a long time to load (20 seconds)
I had a look through the google chrome --> developer module and found that, it is the web page which is the culprit here and the 'LATENCY' time for it is 17 seconds !!! and the actual 'download' time is only 117 ms.
I want to build a custom document management web application that ties in with sharepoint for the actual document versioning and storage. I'm hoping for something like a sharepoint widget that I can plug into my web application that would allow me to tie in with sharepoint and download documents, make edits to them, and upload them back to sharepoint, with sharepoint handling all of the versioning and storage. Basically I'm looking for a sharepoint API. If WSS is the answer to this, are there licensing issues that I need to consider?
I just published a very small site to GoDaddy that I programmed in Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008. The site only contains 6 sheets, none of which are data intensive. Each has a few small images that serve mostly to navigate to the other sheets. There is no data, no SQL, nothing like that. There is one master page that governs the page layout for all of the pages. Everything works fine, for the most part. I am posting because the site loads quite slowly, particularly considering how little content is being loaded. Can anybody give me any advice about what I should look at to speed this thing up a little bit?
We are adding openfire fastpath chat to our site. It will determine and indicate when live chat is available or not and display an appropriate image to indicate the current status and links for each state.
The javascript call hit's a function that is on another box and this function uses document.write to output the html to the page. I know there is a delay because it is making the request to another server and waiting for a result to be returned. The pause here is about a half second, but causes the rest of the page load to be held up.
Has anyone experience a similar issue or offer any tips for getting this to load synchronously somehow. I tried putting this into an aspx ajax panel, but that seemed to cause other issues.
i have used some Ajax control toolkit in my web project. but the problem is that my web pages are loading very slowly because of ajax control toolkit, when i remove this web pages are working very fine and fast. I am using vs 2012 and framework 4.5..
I am using the following Web method.. its work fast on local host , but on Domain hosted server .. its works odd , i;e; some time its work fast about (1-3 sec) and some take about 10-14 sec to process.. how do i make it work properly and fast..
here is my code
[WebMethod] public static string DisplayMessage(string name, string price, string obj, string id) { SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["eshopConnectionString"].ConnectionString); //Creating Delay""
I am currently using VS2008 SP1, working on an ASP.Net project. The project was in 2.0, during first time I run it in VS2008, wizard asked me if I want to upgrade to v3.5, I clicked no. Later on in the project's property page, I set the 'Target Framework' to v3.5.
my current version of .net framework on web server is 2.0 and now i want to run web apps of .net framework 4.0 on same web server. before doing so i wants experts advice that if i will install .net framework 4.0 on my webserver then my webapplications of .net framework 2.0 will be affected or not and if yes then what should i do to handle both (2.0, 4.0) on my web server at same time.
