n edmx Contact entity PersonalInfo complex type is defined with property FullName and Title. In view the code is
[Code]....
Got buddy class like
[Code]....
When I submit form get an error of mapping but if I take FullName out of complex type than form is working fine. How I validate FullName if it is in Complex type?
I have create a table and create edmx file, and I create a Stored Procedure that return a single row (select by primary key), and I want the edmx to have a function that calls that SP and return a type.
I recently started explore MVC and just tried some samples around, i.e. MvcMusicStore.
As the sample DB in MvcMusicStore is quite small, I am wondering how should I design the edmx/entity for a bigger database, let say for an enterprise application, which has more than 20 tables as in AdventureWorks?
Thus, the question is should I include all in one edmx/entity or I should include multiple edmx/entities when I designing the model?
I want to display an editor for a type User. User contains a field Address of type Address. I made an editor template for the type Address so that it is reusable.
I don't want the field Address to be required for creating a user. But some fields are required for Address, for example country, state etc.
I want to validate Address if I receive any data for it, if I don't receive anything, then I don't want to return any validation error to the UI for Address. I would return only validation errors for User then.
If I have Database Stored Procedure retrun Complex type (Contain from Columns for 2 tables) ( Composite) and No Relation between them so i can't use Navigation Property ... so how can I use That in ADO.NET Framework specially when i try to use Add Function Import i didn't find any thing else None, Scalars, Entites.
I thought this would be easy and maybe it is but it's eluding me.
In an action filter (MVC 2) I want to add/edit one of the parameters for the type I'm passing to my action method.
I have an action method:
[Code]....
Bar is a simple class for viewData:
[Code]....
In my BarFilter action filter OnActionExecuting method I want to add a value for paramA which is not set by the view so that Bar will be fully populated in my Foo action method. I've tried various methods of adding values to ViewData, ModelState, Model etc. but I always get a null returned in Foo.
My Question is can we extend one context to another in Entity Framework 4. Following is the problem background.
I am using EF4 for developing a Web-Application. My Web Application has 3 projects.
One project is for storing candidate CV information.
Another project is for storing customer information.
Final project is called CORE. this CORE contains a edmx file that should be extended by CV and CRM.
As an example email address table can be shared by both customer (CRM) and CV. To share one table with another, we should be able to extend one context (CV context) with other context (customer context). Could some one having experience using Entity Framework share your experience with me to find whether this is possible.
We have 3 edmx files in three class libraries:
Person class library(Core) with core.edmx-Basic details related to a person(name, email) CV Class library with CV.edmx wich have CV related data(Experiance, skills) Customer Relationship management system(CRM) which have customer data(sales data...)
Then we want to use core class library edmx file(Core.edmx) with cv.edmx (basically cv tables should be able to use tables from core tables) . Same way we want to use the core.edmx with CRM.edmx for the 3 rd project
I am developing a simple application. I have completed.
1 - Using Respositary Pattern
2 - using DataAnnotation for validation.
3 - Selecting, Creating, Updating and Deleting.
My Questions.1 - I have extra BL validation. Should I create Service layer or use that in Partial Class where my DataAnnotation is? I dont want to use DataAnnotations in one class and other BL validation in another class. Is there a way to combine both or Should I use those separately. Confused here? Any examples to implement BL.
2 - I have lots of Calculations to run once record is reterived and insterted. Where I put these calculations? Should I make extensions and call in controller or Methods in separate file. Any clean approach.
3 - Can I use Repositary Pattern and Service model in ASP.NET webforms with ADO.NET, Entity Framework and Linq to sql?
4 - I don't know id this is stupid question. Can we use ADO.NET with DataAnnotation somehow in Webforms and ado.net with mvc?.
PropertiesMustMatch fails because for some reason it's hit PRIOR to "Required" property. How come??
how do you set the order or validation so that Required is hit prior to any custom validation?
I have a class like so:
[Validation.PropertiesMustMatch("Password", "ConfirmPassword", ErrorMessage = "'Password' and 'Confirm password' do not match.")] [Validation.ValidateMemberUsername("Username", "Oldusername")] public class Member [code]....
Is there any support from JQuery for DataAnnotations?Found this but not sure if its supporting. http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-validation/
I am using the Entity Framework as my ORM. I have used the POCO Entity Generator to create POCO objects. I moved the generated objects to a separate project. I followed steps outlined here(Tutorial). This is my project structure
Sports.Data - Entity Frmework and Data Access
Sports.Entities - The poco objects generated and buddy classes
Sports.Web - The web application
In the Sports.Entities project I have created buddy classes for the generated pocos.
The problem I am having is that the attributes are being ignored by the mvc. The validation is not working and the correct label text is not being displayed. Instead of 'Shirt Size', 'ShirtSize' is displayed.
How can I maintain using data annotation attributes for validations in mvc3 different requirement for edit and create in an elegant manner. I have an different edit and create requirement.
I've got a view with 2 forms on it - one to login and the other to register. My problem is that the client-side validation from MicrosoftMvcValidation is firing regardless of which form I submit - because my forms are rendering the inputs with the same id e.g.
I have a table that displays a user control on each row. The user controls are strongly typed to a viewmodel which contains DataAnnotation style validation. If one of the rows has invalid data entered (lets say the 3rd row) the data annotation validates display agains the first row/user control. How do I get the data annotation to show against the relevant user control?
how do i get the [Display(Name="Some Title")] DataAnnotations "Some Title" rendered in the List scaffold view's output?
I create a strongly typed list scaffold view for this class:
public class CompanyHoliday { [Key] [code]...
However i don't want "Date" and "Name" in the table header - i want "Datum" and "Feiertag Name" rendered there dynamically. The actual column header titles should come from the Display Dataannotation.
So I am working with a database and am trying to get my model code working.I have a situation where I have a table called accounts that for simplicity has 3 columns
accountid, accounttype, parentid
basically its a parent child relationship. if parentid is null its a parent, its not its a child of the accountid.Im running into problems getting the .edmx file mapping. parentid is a foriegn key on the table.
how can access the parentid column? i can see it in account navigation account1 but Im not sure how to get access to it in my linq query
