MVC :: Dynamically Constructing A Table Of Results?
Sep 6, 2010
I need to implement a search page where a user will be able to specify some search criteria and perform a search. It's a requirement that the results are displayed on the same page, beneath the search criteria.
Here's the code for the controller class:
[Code]....
For simplicity, the table string above is hard coded but would be constructed dynamically in the real code.
I also have the following form defined In the body of my html:
[Code]....
Finally, I'm using JQuery to hijack the submission of the form and to request the html for the table:
I need to dynamically construct a url by appending new parameter to the current url.
I know how to do this in the long way by getting the current url and check if there is any QueryString, if no add "?" if yes add "&". Also check is the parameter is already exist. If yes change the value.
But is there any build in .NET function to do this? Like Request.QueryString.Add
Client(s) give me separate JS files which will run a check of some sort on the user's system (Browser type, are cookies enabled?, etc.) and a list of acceptable values to be returned from this check.
I want to run through each JS file when a user visits the site and compare the results to the list of acceptable values, then alert the user if they pass these requirements or not.
I'm currently using RegisterClientScriptBlock() to add the JS to the client's page, so it's being run, but I'm having issues getting the result value from the JS back to ASP.NET in order to do the comparison.
I've tried using hidden fields that the JS will dump the value to and ASP.NET will read from, but I'm having difficulty generating the hidden fields on demand (since I have no idea how many Js files the client could have) and have them work in the ASP.NET code.
I want to display sql query results in my web application (asp.net webpage) dynamically at the run time. But I don't know how to do that. Is there any control to do that? Or is there any code? Could you give some examples?
I'm constructing a query using linq, but I'm having trouble using a collection, i.e. where field in database = anything in the collection.
Below is an example of what I mean:
dim keywords as string ="test,test2,test3,cats,dogs,frogs" Dim getKeywords = (From cp In myDataContext.pages Where cp.pageKeywords = currentPageKeywords.Split(",")
The aim of the above code is to return all records where the "pageKeywords" field contains 1st keyword, or 2nd keyword, or 3rd keyword etc.
I am trying to add some filters to a gridview that I am working on, and I'm wondering if it is possible to generate links or buttons above the gridview based on the years returned in the dataset. For example, if my dataset contains dates from 2001, 2009, and 2031 in my date column, I would like to be able to take that data from my SQL query (getting a distinct list of years is not an issue), and generate the buttons. From there, I would filter the data in the gridview based on the user clicking the buttons.
Is dynamic generation of buttons possible in ASP.NET? I do have some other ideas of how to accomplish the same functionality, but I would prefer to do it this way.
I am wondering if you might be able to with a little problem.I am trying to learn more about building web services by constructing one but I have run into what I think is a syntax problem that I can't figure out. Below is my C# code:
I am trying to implement admin login and operators(india, australia, america) login, now operator id starts with 'IND123' 'AUS123' and 'AM123'
when operator india logs in he can see the details of only members have id 'IND%', the same applies for an australian and american users
and when admin logs in he can see details of members with id 'IND%' or 'AUS%' or 'AM%'
i have a table which defines the role i.e admin or operator and their prefix(IND,AUS respectively)
In loginpage i created a session for Role and prefix
PREFIX = myReader["Prefix"].ToString(); Session["LoginRole"] = myReader["Role"].ToString(); Session["LoginPrefix"] = String.Concat(PREFIX + "%"); works fine
In main page(after login) i have to count the number of member so i wrote
string prefix = Session["LoginPrefix"].ToString(); string role = Session["LoginRole"].ToString(); if (role.Equals("ADMIN")) StrMemberId = "select count(*) from MemberList"; else StrMemberId = "select count(*) from MemberList where MemberID like '"+prefix+"'";
Problem: 1. i want to constructor parameter something like
StrMemberId = "select count(*) from MemberList where MemberID like '@prefix+'"; myCommd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@prefix", prefix);
Which is not working
2 Displaying the members in gridview i need to give condition (something like if (role.Equals("ADMIN")) show all members else show member depending on the operator prefix)the list of members in operator mode and admin mode. - where to put the condition in gridview how to apply these
I'm populating a DataSet from an Sql query. I fetch some extra columns in my query as i need them to for further queries. I delete those columns after im' done with them, but i get a Column "columnname" doesn't exist in "dataset" error when i try to bind the DataSet to a GridView.
what could be the cause?
Edit: here's the code
The actual error message: "Column 'BID' does not belong to table results."
I have to set GridView.DataKeyNames(This is really a question about the syntax for a string array, in VB.Net.)
I am discovering the PrimaryKey columns names from within a loop, ie:
For Each fld As IEntityField In Me.llbDataSource.EntityCollection(0).PrimaryKeyFields 'fld.Name ' this is where the column name is stored, so I have to get this into an array Next I can not use this syntax.
So, basically, how does one declare a string array (as required by GridView.DataKeyNames), and then populate the elements of the array from within a loop?
I just want to put together a SQL statement and load all my results into a table. I don't care about sorting or specifying which columns should be shown.
My SQL Statement changes what columns are returns, and I just want the results to show everything. I don't need bells or whistles at the moment - just all the results loaded into a table, every time.
Im creating a table dynamically in my codebehind to display some statistics. The table is in a usercontrol. When the page first loads, its created and displayed correctly. If I do something that generates a postback, the table subsequently disappears, this is because its created inside a !IsPostback. How can i ensure that the table, once its been generated, stays visble on the page ? I dont want to generate it each time the page loads as it involves a lot of calculations on the database which will slow the pageload down.
i have table that trace views of my page. every row has the id, date view (dd/mm/yyyy hh/mm/ss) how can i distinct the data into gridview (or something else) and display only the days (01/03/2011, 02/03/2001, 03/03/2011) and to sum the numbers of views (01/03/2011 1,290 views, 02/03/2011 867 views.....)
I am displaying some query results in a div (table format). Is it possible to do pagination in vb.net in a div . Because i am not using any list view or data repeater or data grid control.
BID StartDate EndDate BidAmount Status 1 10/12/2010 14/12/2010 100000 Approved 2 05/07/2010 07/07/2010 500000 Pending for DAC
I need to create a selection table, i.e., a table with names and checkboxes.
When some checkboxes are selected, based on selections made on checkboxes i need to generate results(not from database), results are like different name of Is there some kind of architecture for this?
for example, we have name of columns as has legs, has feathers, has wings, can swim, carnivorous, herbivorous, etc
and based on selections i would say animal or bird or fish or amphibian, etc.
Hardware involved: SQL Server 2000 Microsoft Server 2003 with IIS6 [code]...
The goal, from internal department (user) perspective:A department wants to "upload" an excel spreadsheet of data (product, term, rate, etc) to SQL (this will be from the internal network). The data is then saved to a webpage location for that department to view and approve. Once "approved," this data is displayed on the live web servers (public-facing website which is two load balancing servers). Bonus:
The .NET application/SQL Server can send an email to the department reminding them to upload the latest rates (each weekday morning, then each Thursday afternoon) if rates have not yet been "approved."
From the development perspective, this is my general idea, but I may be wrong. There are three spreadsheets, each with one tab. The first spreadsheet is uploaded, and the .NET application puts it in a SQL table. I then need to display this table of data on a .aspx page for the department to approve before the .aspx page is pushed to the live web servers.
First, I need an interface for this department to upload Excel files. I need this application to save the data to SQL and display it in a .aspx page so that the department can look it over and approve it. The department needs a way to "approve" the page, and this action will push the data to the live web servers. Will this involve SQL data transformation services?
As a newbie coming from a Java background with tag libraries I wonder if there is a simple possibility to render areas depending on backend values. For example if I have search form I do not want to render the table for the search results as long as the user hasn't pressed the search button. Of course I can iterate over the model containing an empty list but this does not allow to suppress rendering the whole table.Using web forms I would just control the visibility of the affected tag(s) in the code behind file but how do I do this with ASP.NET MVC?Can I use a partital view for a case like this? But I think I would have the same problem. How can I determine if a partial view is rendered (e.g. the whole result table with header)?
