Because of a restriction on our analytics software, we need to pass all calls to external weblinks through a page - direct clicks to external links don't get recorded. Our classic asp page was simple. We had a link to out.asp?urlname and the out.asp did a redirect. I'm trying to emulate this in MVC without success. On the homecontroller, I've got an action:
Function externalLink(Byval id as string) as ActionResult
Return RedirectToRoute(id)
End Function
I thought I was close with the following actionLink:
<%=Html.ActionLink("more info at HMRC", "externalLink", "Home", New With {.id = "www.hmrc.org.uk"}, DBNull.Value)%>
But the URL that is formed is /Home/externalLink/www.hmrc.org.uk .I've had a route in mapRoute, but taken it out as it didn't affect things. I've tried replacing .id with a paramater name like .url so the url becomes Home/externalLink?url=www.hmrc.org.uk but the problem is really that it can't find the resource
Requested URL:
/Home/externalLink
It does seem like a simple thing, but I guess I need to step away for a few hours and look at it again with fresh eyes - Sunday working wearing me out!
I'm calling an external Web service that requires a certificate to be passed. This works perfectly fine for a stand-alone Windows Forms application, but when I attempt to do the exact same thing through an ASP.NET Web Application, it throws the following error:
"No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"
I found this MS article that describes what appears to be the exact issue I'm having, but it only applies to .NET 1.0:
[URL]
I'm using .NET 3.5, so surely it must be fixed by now!
I've attempted to change permissions on the certificate and fooled around with the app pool identity, but nothing seems to work.
I've a page which consolidates different sections by different .aspx pages. Those pages will be loaded into corresponding div(s) dynamically by using jQuery.load(). They all are rendered properly, however, when clicking on any asp:button in any section page, the entire main page will be replaced by the section page even the asp:button is just popping up a message box.
I have an ASP.NET app that gets its data form an external service, via HttpWebRequest. Currently the request is made on the Page_Load event. After that event finishes I have my objects in the page and I output their data in the HTML. Sometimes the site hangs and throws timeout exceptions. Should I move the web request to an event prior to Page_Load ?
I am using a thrid party website for a service. I transfer control and data to an external URL provided by the service provided. Once the service provider processes the data, it transfers the results and control back to a page in my website. I would like to allow only the service provided URL/page to redirect to my website. Is there any way to do this?
I am using hidden variables on a form and a button control with the PostBackUrl attribute set to the service provier URL, to submit the data and control to the external webpage. Will Service Variables help me achieve the above objective?
I have a master page in my website. I want some sort of container to load external website in my contentplaceholder.Frames and object tags are the tried options. My DOC type doesn't support Frames and object tag has that scroll border displayed by default and I can't remove it because it will be a page from another domain.
On the loaded site the users will be able to browse and search products, so I just dont want to read the html once. That will be the actual website loaded/displayed.
Platform: ASP.NET 4.0, VS 2010My scenario is thishave the credentials of an external websiteI do a couple of GET/POST to scrape some data off of it Depending on something that I find, I want to give my user a hyperlink that, when clicked, takes him 3 levels deep into the target website beyond the login pageOf course, I could just provide a URL to the top level on the target site, and he would click through to get there. But is there a way, via ASP.NET, that I can programmatically login and then open the page on a separate window/tab?
am trying to get one of the webforms in my application to link to another website, outside of my application. I can get the page to load as a new webpage in my browser easily but I need to keep my masterpage in view.
I'm migrating an old ColdFusion site to ASP.NET. One of the pages has a form that posts to an external URL.
[Code]....
I just discovered that you can't do this in an .aspx page. Seems the page will just post to itself if you hit the submit button. What's the proper technique for achieving this in ASP.NET? There are a couple of hidden fields that pass parameters to the external URL.
I have a simple webApplication. Now I have a second webapplication with few web aspx pages. When I build each project I get aspx files with 1 dll per project.
Now the structure of the first webApplication is like this
inwebapplication1.dll
Default.aspx
Is it possible to load the dll of the second application dynamically and put its dll into the bin directory. The result will be something like this:
inwebapplication1.dll
inwebapplication2.dll
Default.aspx
application2default.aspx
The problem is that when I try to open application2default.aspx the compiler is throwing an error that it cannot find the class for that particular page because the assembly inwebapplication2.dll is not loaded. I tried to load the assembly from the web config like this <add assembly="myassemly, Version=1.0.0.0, PublicKeyToken=null, Culture=neutral"/> and also from the code like this Assembly.LoadFrom( @"D:Projectsinmyassemly.dll" ); OR Assembly.Load( "myassemly, Version=1.0.0.0, PublicKeyToken=null, Culture=neutral" ); but I still have no success. Can u tell me what is the logic here with the assembly load?
I'm using an ASP.NET Facebook Developers Toolkit (http://www.codeplex.com/FacebookToolkit) on an external website, and I'm also the admin of a facebook fan page for the website. Users on my website (may or may not be facebook users) create content articles.
I would like to hook up these articles to the Facebook fan page, so that, when they write the article, then ones with FB accounts can sign into FB and post on the Fan page. I'm sure they would need to be a fan first.
I have an app which has a form that used to use AutoPostBack rigged controls (dropdowns, radiobuttons etc.) in an updatepanel, and I used to set session values on each postback. I posted the form using PostBackUrl to an external page, using a bit of javascript OnClientClick to copy my data into meaningfully named hidden fields.
Now, I've had to rewrite the AutoPostBack-ing controls so that all the cascading dropdown work and date calculation etc. is done in JavaScript, and not in C# - no more postbacks, no more updatepanel.
This means I've lost the ability to set my session values on postback. Can anyone think of a solution for setting these before I post my form? I need to set the session variables, plus post (querystrings are not an option) to the external page with the values from my form - and actually send the user to the external page, too.
Under Visual Studio 2010, I'm developing an asp.net application. I added a folder to my project called Flash. Under Flash folder I added a swf file with its external resources to run.
The folder content: 1- ScrollingImages.swf file to lunch the flash 2- ScrollingImages.xml file that the swf file uses to read images from thumbnails folder 3-thumbnails folder which content images used by swf file. I can embed the swf file to html easily using this code:
[Code]....
But when I use the same code to embed it to asp.net page I will have a problem that the flash will run but I cannot see the images so the swf file unable to locate the xml file and the folder of the images location and they all in the same folder. Here is the code I used in the aspx.net content page.
[Code]....
I also tested it in aspx.net page and I'm getting same result no images appear. I know that the problem is related to who to embed the swf external resources (the xml file and the images folder) to the aspx.net page but I searched a lot and I could solve it.
I used to implement this above title by using iframe but now I don't want to use it any more I have some plans in my mind I need to implement them by opening an external page inside our asp.net page without using any iframe I have only simple aspx page with div tag and panel and some other serverside components, I just want to know how I can do it without iframe? I don't want to design new complex control but I am looking for some methods can do that for me.
I have to mention that I need to control area which is loaded by external site as the same as iframe but the difference is that iframe can not handled by ajax even you put iframe inside the update panel your page has refresh and postback while you are changing the src value programmatically (in c# code) so we have to design some others methods what is the solution? I thought I can make request an get some html and show into div but I couldn't to implement it.
I am developing one asp.net application and I have a requirement that I need to fetch html of page: [URL] I can easily do it with asp.net code using httpwebrequest but I have to do it from client side either using javascript or JQuery or any other thing. This is required becaues REQUEST TO GET PAGE [URL] MUST COME FROM CLIENT AND NOT FROM SERVER DUE TO IP ISSUE.
When we include Javascript files in our aspx files. either we write all the Javascript code in the Head section of aspx or we link to an external Javascript file.
So when the clinet makes a call to that page. Does that mean that all the Javascript will be loaded on the client side?
If that is the case then does not that mean that it will slow down the loading of page as all the Javascript has to be loaded on the client machine?
I am using Web Expression and Access database to build an aspx page.I am displaying records using listview Tiled option and DataPager is enabled also which is creating multiple pages.
I need to force SSL when going to the final checkout page (for example from default.aspx to checkout.aspx).
I need to pass variables to this check out page and tried to use server.transfer(https://www.mydomain.com/checkout.aspx). I then use previous page .Fincontrol to read text box and label name to this check out page. If I only do the server.transfer("~/checkout.aspx") then my I can read all vakues of my controls from the passing default.aspx page.
But when I force https:// then I cannot read the control values from default.aspx page.
Please give me some tips on how to get control values to the https:// destination page or if you have another tips on how to do it the right way, please let me know.
I have a FileUpload control in the Source page. On the Upload button handler, I read the file into memory (after doing some validations) and since it's always going to be a TXT file, I create a string that I need to pass to the Destination page. I thought of using Cross Page postback and set the PostBackUrl property of the upload button. But it appears that the breakpoint in the Upload button handler is never hit. It directly goes to the Page_Load in the Destination page. If I can't use Cross Page postback and don't want to use Session or the database, how do I pass this string from Source page to the Destination page?
I would like to take a value from a text box and pass it as a search parameter to my database. I get the value from my code behind page as follows: protected void btn_click(Object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e)
I need to access a variable that is declared in a master page to a child page. I'm using asp.net 2.0 (vb). I'm sure this should be easy and is down to my inexperience with asp.net! A rough guide to my code is below;
MASTER PAGE <%@ Master Language="VB" CodeFile="MasterPage.master.vb" Inherits="MasterPage" %> <script runat="server"> Public UserNumber As Integer = 3 End Sub </script> CHILD PAGE <%@ Master Language="VB" CodeFile="MasterPage.master.vb" Inherits="MasterPage" %>
I'd like to pass data from one asp.net page to another. I've seen that using System.Web.Caching.Cache is a good way to accomplish this. I'm wondering if it's a good way to do it and also is there any cleanup or other things I need to keep in mind when you the Cache?
