MVC :: RC JQuery $.ajax Requests Failing / He Error Code Is 12030 Or 12031
Jan 14, 2010
Yesterday I upgraded to MVC 2 RC. I have several jquery ajax requests that worked fine prior to the upgrade. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.
I know the MVC team made changes to the framework to protect against Json Hijacking so that GET requests are not allowed (by default) and I have changed my jquery ajax code to use 'type: "POST",' and then adorned the Action Method with the POST verb.
Again, the odd thing about this is that it works sometimes and other times it doesn't. When it fails, there are no error details. The error code is 12030 or 12031.
My jQuery ajax call is failing with an undefined error. My js code looks like this:
[Code]....
My ajax source is a generic ASP.NET handler:
[Code]....
Now, if I return an empty object ("{ }") in my handler, the call will succeed. But when I return any other JSON object, the call fails.
The dataFilter handler shows that I am receiving a correct object. Firebug shows the response as expected, and the JSON tab shows that the object is parsed correctly.
So what could be the cause?
[Edit] I should have actually written "when I return any invalid JSON object, the call fails"! :D
I have big problem with the CascadingDropDown. I have 60 CDD with one "Child". So on the page are 60 Parents and 60 Childs. When i use FF3.5 everything works fine when he is the only Browser which is connected to IIS
When i use FF3.0 i get Methode ERROR 403 and 500 When i use IE6 i get Methode ERROR 12030 or 403 or 500 When i use Google Chrome no ERROR no content in the List!? When i use IE8 sometime it works sometime not!?
This errors are not shown on every DropDownList (but on most of them!) I played with the "<jsonSerialization maxJsonLength="50000000" />" in the Web.config which seams to make it work a little bit better.
What can i do to get the CDD working?
I think it is a timing problem. The CDD are not filled in the order i placed them on the page. Local it works better then remote.
I have an ASP.NET form with several update panels. All works great.I use a timer and have it handle some periodic upates. That works correctly too. However, I appear to get an error when I leave the page open running in the debugger. Specifically the above JScript error 12030.I'm not clear how to find the source but I assume it is because my page has logged out. If I refresh I go back to my login page. So, does this sound like the cause? If so, how to I address this?
i find a lot of websites that have some parts in the page that uses ajax much more faster than i used to see ajax requests
like changing views using tabs when i click a tab it changes content very fast than i used to in my web applications using Asp.Net and Ajax Control Toolkit
and also a very quick paging in repeaters or grids than i ever developed in my web apps
like this website [URL]
so i need to know which technology used to achieve this this website is developed using .net
but i need to know is this needs another technology to learn (from where can i learn it)
or is it just asp.net + ajax or whth other technology is it MVC
also i want to know if MVC is better than asp.net + ajax in concern with performance
i'm trying to intercept ajax requests with jquery, to display a waiting message like with using plugin BlockUI, but how can i intercept requests sended by the UpdatePanel provided from asp.net framework, is some way to take the trigger?
When I was reading the blog Using jQuery to Consume ASP.NET JSON Web Services
I have seen this argument:
"By using jQuery to call the web service directly, we've eliminated over 100 KB of JavaScript and three extra HTTP requests. "
Why does the ASP.NET AJAX call to a .NET Web-Service needs 3 extra HTTP requests? What are those requests? (I wonder how jQuery manages the call with lesser HTTP requests in this case).
So When I use Jquery 1.4.4 like this : I get : Status 200; Status Text: OK When I use Jquery 1.5 I get: Status 200; Status Text: Parsererror So I created a new WebSite in Visual Studio, copy and pased the code there, and it works fine !!!! I can't figure out what causes the problem. Also I have used methods with parameter, and setting data:"{}", and removing data completely, but nothing seems to work. I don't know if has to do anything with the DevExpress components that I'm using or not. I also found a good answer which was working with complete method like this :
complete: function(xhr, status) { if (status === 'error' || !xhr.responseText) { alert("Error"); } else { var data = xhr.responseText; alert(data); //... } }
But I don't know if it will work fine or there might be some other problem with this method too. I also don't know how to access response data from here.
I have been using the RemotePost Class( as per http://www.jigar.net/articles/viewhtmlcontent78.aspx) to post a form to a pay provider, for about 3 months successfully, I made some changes external from the call to this class that sent an email when user presses the button to notify us that the user has selected to go through to the pay provider (similar to PayPal). and suddenly got an exception error MSCROLIB, Thread was being aborted. I have since removed the code and I still get the error it happens when I call
[Code]....
I tried the suggestion on KB article [URL]/ but the control is not past to the Pay Provider I also took the actual response that is written and posted it to a new html file added a submit button and it works. So I am no stuck. The Pay provider claims they have changed nothing, and has tried to help but says they are receiving no input from either our dev site or the live site.I also tried to step into the call but it just throughs the exception
I have an Insert into function returns the error Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression when text the single quote is send to the access db from a form.
' I need to replace this with the ascii ' before the query is sent.
I have a CustomValidator client script method that checks the value of a <input type="date" id="start"/> control. I'm accessing the date value using jQuery $('#start').val(), which works fine in Firefox and Opera. When I test in Chrome/Safari, the js console says that $('#start') is null. There is no problem using $('#start') outside the CustomValidator client method in Chrome/Safari. There is also no problem accessing the #start date object via document.getElementById('start') inside the validation method.
why jQuery selectors are failing inside this validation method for Chrome/Safari?
I have an asp.net control that contains a grid view sitting on top of an Ajax update panel. The control has been added to a sharepoint page. When a button is clicked, some server code is called to store the contents of the grid. If the server code throws an error, I want to spit out a javascript alert displaying the error message, but for some reason the error that bubbles up from the server is the generic 500 server error, which doesn't contain any details of the original error.
When I upgraded my Web Deployment Project from VS2008 to the VS2010 beta version, I was able to execute the build locally on my development box. However, when I tried to execute the build on our TeamCity build server, I began getting the following exception:
the jquery is embedded in an .aspx page (a language i'm not familiar with) but is posting to a php script. i'm receiving emails properly but there is no data inside. am i missing something? i tried to bypass the variables in this example, but its still not working.
Using MS article http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998317.aspx, I created a web site to develop a forms authentication solution for our web app. The server is Win 2003 w/IIS 6 and the app is VB.NET. The web.config was updated for forms authentication and settingsappear below:
Here's briefly what I am trying to do. The File server creates a text file to indicate an end of the process. On a webpage on the Web Server, I loop every x seconds and make an ajax request to find out if the test file exists (ajax request to [URL]
I've tried the following approaches so far:
Trigger a web method from the client side that creates a HttpContext object to verify if the text file exists. But this is too strenous on the server and I started getting all kinds of exceptions in the Event Viewer.
I need to get notified about asynchronous requests in ASP.NET. I used the jQuery .ajaxSend global event but it does not trigger when using UpdatePanels.
Is there a multi-browser way to detect when a request is being made on a page?
I have a website which uses the latest AJAX Control toolkit. On my pc, the website is loading perfectly well. The page makes use of a tab control and an update Panel - AJAX Control toolkit.Unfortunately when I uploaded the website online, on the shared web server, the website gives the following 3 errors (on IE) :
1) ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load 2) 'Sys' is unidentified 3) 'Sys' is unidentified
The page finally loads, however the ASP.NET Ajax controls do not load (Tab controls and UpdatePanel). The rest of the page loads perfectly well. I made some searches online, however still cant find a solution.
Facts:1. The site contains an Ajax Script Manager Proxy2. The web.config states that the site is not in debugging mode3. Tried to create a fresh new virtual directory and problem still persists. 4. On my Development machine the website is 100% functional.
Okay, so this is one of those annoying bugs that happens sometimes, but not with enough regularity to really root out.
Fair warning that I'm still just toddling in ASP.NET, so I could be doing something heartbreakingly stupid. Here's the gist:
I've got a page with the bulk of its content inside of a TabContainer from the AJAX Toolkit. There are a few page elements outside the TabContainer -- mostly just header/footer stuff from the master page. Sometimes the page will load (either initially or on a postback) and the TabContainer will completely fail to draw, leaving a mostly-empty page. Clicking "Reload" in the browser almost always makes everything appear as usual.
What would make a TabContainer occasionally fail to draw? How can I go about debugging this.
Attempting to use any of the control toolkit is failing for me. It seems to be failing on the official site, as well. All of the examples are broken, with a javascript error on the page. Here is an example:[URL]
I have some user controls where I would like to add some javascript that uses Ajax and Jquery technology. Also these scripts should use Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequestand other functions of the Ajax framework. In the past I have added the related code to the hosting aspx page but it becomes a problem when re-using the same control in multiple aspx.
