I have developed a data querying application for the Web, this is in a host. What steps should I take if I want this application can also be used with mobile devices.
View 3 RepliesI am writing an ASP.NET application that suppose to connect to many different data stores and query them for data. Each data store contains different data: it can be an SQL DB, an XML file, or anything that can store data. The result is always an XML.
The remote data stores expose a WCF service (which I will also implement) that will allow me to query the data store and return the results.
My question is: how exactly should I implement the querying mechanism? Should I define my own query language?
This is just to know that, if i developed any application in .net framework 3.5, will it run in machine which has only 4.0? If not then why not.

View 2 RepliesI developed a .Net 3.5 x64 web application that includes a custom HttpHandler in the config:
<add path="*.class1" verb="GET" type="ClassLibrary1.Class1Handler"/>
This works when the platform target for ClassLibrary1 is set at x86.
However, when I set this to x64 I get the following error when I run web application starts (it compiles just fine): Configuration Error Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'ClassLibrary1, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
Does this mean that a HttpHandler can be compiled at x86 only?That doesn't make much sense to me.Does anyone have an idea of what could be going on?Edit 1:The ClassLibrary1 project is just an empty class library project with a single HttpHandler added (which is also empty).Edit 2:I am also getting these warning messages when compiling, I am pretty sure they have something to do with this problem: Assembly generation -- Referenced assembly 'mscorlib.dll' targets a different processor HttpTestEdit 3:I manually edited the project file to force references to the x64 assemblies, like this:
<Reference Include="$(Windir)Microsoft.NETFramework64v2.0.50727System.dll"/>
This does supress the above warning message, but the problem isn't resolved.
I have an ASP.Net Ajax application that has been built on .net 2.0. My company recently installed a brand new server which has .net 3.5 installed. Is it possible for me to host my application on this server without the .net 2.0 ?

However, a requirement is that users are able to execute scripts against AD to perform actions that their own user accounts are not allowed to do.Therefore I am using impersonation to switch the identity before creating the PowerShell runspace:

I have tested using a domain admin account and I get the following exception when calling runspace.Open():
Security Exception
Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file.
Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Requested registry access is not allowed.
The web application is running in full trust and I have explicitly added the account I am using for impersonation to the local administrators group of the machine (even though the domain admins group was already there).I'm using advapi32.dll LogonUser call to perform the impersonation in a similar way to this post (http://blogs.msdn.com/webdav_101/archive/2008/09/25/howto-calling-exchange-powershell-from-an-impersonated-thead.aspx)
wanted to know what is the easiest way to interface a mobile phone device with an online system. I have literally NO knowledge in this domain. However, I am brainstorming on possibility of an online application that will allow me to backup my data in nokia set 3110 such as my Address book in the application and restore it. This I want to achieve without connecting my phone to any PC. I am thinking on some way to achieve this by leveraging mobile phone line only. I beleive it may require my application to connect to mobile phone through mobile phone network. Currently my mobile phone line subscriber is offering Address Book backup/ restore service with some charge. I want to see if I can replicate similar features. I would really appreciate if you can give a direction to my random thoughts.If anything is not clear then please feel free to inquire. I look forward to your kind response.

View 2 RepliesI have developed the asp.net 3.5 ajax enabled web application and it is working well for me. i have included ajaxtoolkit dll and used the ajax tool kit controls in my application. And i copied the application source to another computer and open in visual studio 2008. i have installed the asp.net 3.5 in this computer. now the problem is, when i run the application getting error in web.config file. the error is in script. i guess the issue is because of ajax. what i need to do. should i install the ajax latest version in this machine. if so, where can i download the ajax latest version.

I have converted my web application developed using visual studio 2003 to 2008. Now my problem is that when I add a new control lets text box or dropdown list on the page or form that was developed in visual studio 2003, the control is not being recognised. How can I ensure that new controls are beiing recognised.

Same application is tried from Dubai to recieve same data but an error occured to receive data. What could be problem? Application from Dubai is accessing My PC service but server at Germany is not accessible. Is there ant blockage issue from server to specific Global IP. User is accesing using Wi Fi.

I'm selecting data using the between command, But when I select the initial date equal to the final date the query doesn't show data.I know that the problem is the format. In my database I got something like this:2009-05-22 15:32:52.000. But when I send the date parameter from ASP.NET Page I sent only the Date (2009-05-22).So, I want to fix this thing. I cannot change the Datetime inside the database.I was thinking adding 1 day to the final date, So when the user select the same date I change the range behind the scene and then show the data. What do you think?

I will be as detailed as I can in explaining the issue;I have a dataset I have instantiated in a class file (vb.net), and fill the data succesfully. That data is then dumped into an excel file. What I need to do is to go through all the data in the dataset, and directly update the database, changing a "status" column from "pending" to "processing" based on the store number. As I am new to datasets (relatively speaking, of course), I am not quite certain how to accomplish this task. Below is the code I have so far:

If I store all my user info, upon login, in cache and just have a "my account" page that displays the user info from cache, is that a good practice? I'm wondering if a person changes his email or does any type of database modification then the cached variables will be the wrong ones. If I have to update the cache variables every time something happens to the database, is this even a good practice compared to just querying the data whenever needed?
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to create a search page that searchs one specific table in the entrie datbase.Basically someone writes what they want in a textbox in search.aspx, they click the search button, and it takes them to another page called search_results.aspx, carrying the inputted text along with it. What search results is supposed to do is at page load, its supposed to query the entire database for all values that are LIKE the text in the querystring, then transport the entire value set of each row that has a field matchign the query string, and then it's supposed take those values and put them in a template that presents them in the way that I want.
The only thing out of all that that I don't know how to do is write the code for taking the querystring and putting it up against all the values in the database like that. I know that you can find a value in a specfic comlumn, i.e.
SELECT Column1, Column2
FROM Table1
Where Column1 = 'blah1', 'blah2'
but how do you write it so that it looks at all the columns for 1 or 2 specfic values (the querystring), and then it returns the entire for each time it finds them?

View 5 Repliesi am developing a PDA application in ASP.net......ok, the point is, on my form i have a text box , in which the text appears after the Bar Code is being read through the BarCode Reader....but immediately after it with pressing the Cancel Button (which is also placed on tha same form) the event of this button trigers automatically.....I have checked the Handle statement which is Handles btnCancel.click, and one more thing the auto-post back property of textbox is true.

View 1 RepliesWe are creating an web application in VS 2008 to be used in smart phone. We are not using any MOBILE templates. The issue we are facing is the controls get to the top left corner of the page and is so tiny in other browsers but NOT IE. We have to ZOOM in the page to read the text and the access the controls. In IE it gets to the controls to be viewed. (We had issues here too, but not sure what fixed, but now it gets auto zoomed). Any lights on what need to be done to acheive this?
