Mar 25, 2011I am working on a ASP.Net Web Application which need some requirement as given below. Let's say two user's A and B. When a User A Assign a task to B , Then B need to get some sort of alert message without doing any action by B in his web browser, which need to tell User B that user A had assigned him some task and he need to response back to User A at the same time by and acknowledgement saying he accepted the task or rejected. Here I can not use the Mail server feature. Here user B need to get the pop up/alert message at the same time when user A posted the Task.

I know i cannot do it otherwise so i did is...
(wrapped my user control inside the Update Panel.)

but i still the control wont refresh. i also tried calling the update panels .Update() method by changing its UpdateMode to Conditional but that does not work either...does any one know how can we do it then..

Nov 3, 2010I have a table on my page. I need to scroll down a little to get to that table. In that table i have som data that i edit and save to database. When the save is done i need to refresh the page( Response.Redirect(Request.RawUrl )) so it loads the new data to that table. When the refresh is done the page is on top again so that i need to scroll down again to see the table. This makes it very unusable for the user.
How can i refresh the page without it going back to top again? I tryed wrapping an updatepanel around the table but it didnt

I'd like to be able to refresh certain items within userControl1, from userControl2.
I've added a public sub within userControl1 named "doRefresh" (that does what I need) but I can't work out how to reference it from userControl2.

Jul 28, 2010I developed an admin dashboard to administer content for a tool i built, using vb.net, sql 2005, ajax, .net.3.5 I built a custom user control for each action, add page, update page, add image, update images, and added these to a multiview which loads all controls available to them on load of the page.
The problem is that on occasion the controls inside the multivew dont update, ie you add something, but it doesnt reflect the information in the db until the entire page is reloaded, usually via the user having to re open the page.
Is there a way to reload the user controls of the page programmatically (cant use a response.redirect or javascript due to values held within the page that must be maintained in order to keep user logged in)

Jan 27, 2011I have around 8 user controls on a page with a form in each of them. I have a dropdown list that allows you to select a form, with a selectedindexchanged event that hides the current form and shows the requested form.
There is some javascript that needs to fire when each form loads. Now, when you click on a form for the first time, the javascript fires as it should, but if you click the dropdown to change the form, then click back to a previous form, the javascript doesn't fire (because the user control is already loaded).
Is there anything I can do to trigger a postback, or reload/refresh the user control whenever an option is selected from the drop down?

This I came to know after I found that the said drop down shows the current value only after I click on another button.

I'm thinking of how I would like to somehow refresh a client page for a staff member if a new task gets assigned to that staff member. Some clerical people will be loading and assigning tasks to staff members.
How have you all handled this type of refresh in a webby environment. I'm fully jQuery and Ajax so I've got the tools...
