Mar 29, 2011I've modified an existing strored procedure. It originally had one ouput parameter in the stored proc and it was set up as follows in the c# code that called it:

SQL Server :: Any Difference With Meta Info And Binary Data In Same Table?
Dec 15, 2010I have a site where users can save images together with a couple of info fields about the image. The images are stored as binary data in the same table as the rest of the image info. So far pretty standard.
Now, the users should be able to upload a document, describing the image in more detail, along with the rest of the image and its' info.
Size ~2MB per document.
My question is: Should I store this document (binary data) in the same table as the rest of the images or should I create a new table holding only the documents. There would of course be an id reference in the image table to the document in the document table.
I have a search function joining a couple of tables, including the image table, when searching for images. I need to know if there's a difference in efficiency between these two solutions.
I always fetch the document data separately but if I don't win anything in having the documents in a separate table I'll just put it with the rest of the image info.
I'm asking this since I don't really know how SQL Server handle tables when joing and searching in them.
I have about 10´000 users with a maximum of 10 images per user. (ASP.NET - SQL Server)
(I'm not asking if I should store documents in the database, but how ;)
Example:
columns in imageTable - id, title, dateAdded, image (binary data), document (binary data)
Searching for items from a specific user I would join the userTable and the imageTable and select title where image id equals user id.
So, will there be any difference in the performance if the document is in the imageTable or in an own table?
SQL Server :: Reindex Table Through Proc Or C#?
Oct 28, 2010I have a table with two indexes, PK_WClient (clustered) and SMonths (non-unqiue, non-clustered), we have a data import that works on the .net side, it imports data via C# into the table. Every time we complete the import the sections of the asp.net site that use that table are very slow, just when pulling the new records, old records are fine. so we reindex that table for both indexes and things are fine again. Rather than us having to reindex manually in sql server 2005 each time, is there a way to get this to happen via a stored proc or from the c# side? this way when the client gets the project, we don't need to run the index, they can just use the site to import data and behind the sceens the reindex can happen once the import is done.

I keep seeing stuff about "ref" on the net but "ref" shows " arbument # should not be passed with the ref keyword.
So i am not sure if there is a problem with the model, or with my understanding this, Now for your info I can do the same step with returning a dataset from a stored procedure fine, but I dont want a data set I just want excatly the data in the output parameters from the stored procedure.
