SQL Server ::error Occur Paste The Generated Query Into Sql Management Studio?

Aug 4, 2010

I have been using a function that replaces some characters from my editor in asp.net with '+CHAR(x)+' to chain together a string with characters such as single quote that would otherwise break the query, i know how to escape the character using double single quote but i was wondering why i get this problem. The problem is that when the string gets too long about 7kb to 8kb its gets cut off for no reason, no error message gets displayed, the query is successful only the string cuts off at a point. When i escape the character without using '+CHAR(x)+' to add the character i can add a very long string that does not cut off,i am using Varchar(max) for my field, (have also tried text).I am using sql 2008 express edition, and encounter this problem when i paste the generated query into sql management studio, and when i execute the query fromasp.net code.

SQL Query Works In Management Studio But Not In C#

Mar 21, 2011

I have a problem doing a query with my software. I have a function which builds my query, and then execute it to fill a gridview. But it keep throwing me an exception : "The multi-part identifier "" could not be bound" with several columns. When I try the query in SQL Management Studio, it just works fine. I really don't understand. Here's the query.

SELECT DISTINCT [NonConformite].[Numero],
CAST ([NonConformite].[Numero] AS varchar (255)) AS Champ1,
CAST ([NonConformiteDonneesComplementaires177_4].[Texte2] AS varchar (255)) AS Champ2,
CAST (NonConformite.dbo.[NonConformiteStatut].[Libelle] AS varchar (255)) AS Champ3,
CAST ([NonConformite].[Description] AS varchar (255)) AS Champ4 FROM [NonConformite].[dbo].[NonConformite]
LEFT JOIN NonConformite.dbo.[NonConformiteDonneesComplementaires] as NonConformiteDonneesComplementaires177_4
ON [NonConformite].[Numero] = [NonConformiteDonneesComplementaires177_4].[Numero]
LEFT JOIN NonConformite.dbo.[NonConformiteStatut]
ON [NonConformite].[CpteurStatut] = NonConformite.dbo.[NonConformiteStatut].[Cpteur]

I work on Windows 7 Pro, with Visual Studio 2008, SQL Server 2008 and in ASP.NET C#.

DataSource Controls :: Running SQL Query From SQL Management Studio - Optimize?

I have one query which is not responding even after 4 minutes. But same query is when called from asp.net pages (though stored procedure), responds within 10 seconds. My Query:

[Code]....

I don't want to know the ways to optimize the query as I have already changed the query and now it responds within fraction of second. I just want to know that, why it was not reponding after 4 minutes in SQL Management Studio and responds in just 10 seconds when run from asp.net through stored procedure. I am using SQL 2008 Express with Advanced services and .NET 3.5.

VS 2008 - No Error Is Generated And No Entry Is Logged In Windows Event Viewer On Server

Sep 9, 2011

i made an upgrade to an existing application (still developed by me), while testing on my development machine, everything worked fine. After migrating to a Test Server(windows 2003 server), users can not test the application, it periodically crashes their session and redirected them to the login page (Forms Authentication). No error is generated and no entry is logged in the windows event veiwer on the server. I also noticed this also happens when they try to access a particular page in the application.

The page contains 50 instance of a user-control. Each of the user-control contains 8 textboxes, 2 labels,1 hidden field and 12 asp.net validation controls. I tried saving a copy of this page from Internet explorer (IE8) on my development machine, its about 2.2MB in size. What may be wrong and what tracing tools can i use on my development machine (since it generates no errors). How can i also reduce the size of the page (noting that the asp.net validation controls generated alot of HTML codes)

SQL Server :: SQL Server Management Studio Express Install On One Machine?

Jan 21, 2011

I have SQL server management studio express install on one machine.

I am able to connect to that machine or able to ping that machine from my computer.

I have code which return me the SQL server instances on same network. Using that I am able to get that SQL server instance. I have configured SQL express to access remote connection. i.e.

Configured SQL express to accept named / TCP IP instance connection. Started Browser service.

My machine settings My machine has been configured to set dynamic IP address using DHCP protocol

When I am trying to connect to above mentioned SQL server I am getting error that "Failed to connect SERVER NAME\SQLEXPRESS".

But if I configured my machine with manual IP address and default gateway I am able to connect to same SQL server.

I got the solution to connect to that server but I don't know why I am facing such problem. And also let me know that is the solution I am using is correct or not?

Additional information:

SQL Server :: SQL Server Management Studio Is Not Attaching A Database?

Sep 2, 2010

I'm a newbie in development, and i'm facing a grave concern here. Sql Server Management Studio (2008) does not seem to be able to attach a database that i've already created in Sql Server 2005 express within my ASP.NET application. When I try to attach the database, by clicking "Attach" after right clicking the Database note in object explorer, I get to see a dialog box with an Add button. I then click that button, and try to navigate to the database, and I'm simply not able to reach that folder!!! The folder containing the databse physically exists, but i can't see it when i'm trying to browse to it.This is a Windows 7 (home edition) laptop, with VS 2008.

Prevent ID Autogeneration On Copy - Paste In Visual Studio 2008 Web Form

Mar 4, 2010

If I have the following in an ASP.NET Web Form:

<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="tbxUser"/>

and I copy and paste that line in the same page, I usually get the following:

<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="TextBox1"/>

Obviously, nobody is going to name their controls in that way (if you don't want to name a textbox, simply don't asign an ID to it), and it's not nice having to change the ids of pasted controls. The same happens if I copy a control without an explicit ID, VS simply generates one for me. Is there any way of preventing VS from autogenerating IDs when I copy-paste ASP.NET code?

Visual Studio :: Can Just Copy And Paste Files From Old Vwd 2005 Into New Solution In VS2008

Feb 16, 2010

I have a site that was created with VWD2005. I tried to open the solution with VS 2008. This prompted me to convert it which I did. Now when I look at the project in the Solution Explorer in VS 2008, I see all of the files but they are now with in a folder named "2" that's within a folder named "back up". I also see another folder with in the solution that's named _UpgradeReport_Files.

The files for my project that are with in the folder "2" that is with in the folder "back up" are actually in the back up folder for my project in the Visual Studio 2005 folder with in My Documents. I assume this is because I chose the "create back" up option when doing the conversion. I don't understand why these files and this project aren't in the project directory with in the VS2008 folder with in My Documents.

I want all of my files for this project to be in the projects folder with in the Visual Studio 2008 folder in My documents, the same as if I had created this project in Visual Studio 2008 originally. But the conversion doesn't seem to have done this. Instead I seem to be using a solution/project that references the original files with in the back up folder as mentioned above.

Can I just create a new project in VS 2008 and paste these files into it? Will this work? I'm not sure if it will because the original one was created in VWD 2005 which I think uses the .net framework 2.0. My Visual Studio 2008 uses version 3.5 Sp1 of the .NET framework.

C# - Use SQL Server Management Studio Express?

Jul 10, 2010

For my database I create a new query and wrote

select * from dbname

using SQL Server Management Studio Express 2005. Saved it by name SQLQuery1.sql on the desktop. Now I would like to call this query from C# code when an ASP.NET button is clicked and display the results in a gridview. How do I call the query? Can I tell Visual Studio 2008 to please execute the query stored in 'sqlquery1.sql' ? Where do I store the results so that I can bind them the display controls like a gridview, or traverse the data? This is a website in C#, ASP.NET, Visual Studio 2008, and database is on the same computer using SQL Server 2005 Express
