SWFUpload Multiple Files Server-side Handling?
Mar 18, 2010
I need the user to be able to upload multiple files to my server, thus I am using the SWFUpload utility. SWFUpload sends the files one by one, and I need to store them all in the same temporary directory. My ASP.NET handler recieves the files one by one and I can store the file appropriately.
My problem is: How do I know which files belong to the same upload? Rephrased, how do I connect the files in my handler?

I want to handle asynchronous post back timeout error (Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerTimeoutException) on server side.
I use AsyncPostBackError event of ScriptManager class for other errors (exceptions) during asynchronous post back and it works fine. There is a response redirect to generic error page in this event handler.
Unfortunately for PageRequestManagerTimeoutException this event is not fired.
So how can I handle this error on server side?
scriptMgr.AsyncPostBackTimeout = 180;scriptMgr.AsyncPostBackError += new EventHandler<AsyncPostBackErrorEventArgs>(scriptMgr_AsyncPostBackError);...private void scriptMgr_AsyncPostBackError(object sender, AsyncPostBackErrorEventArgs e){Response.Redirect("~/System/GenericError.aspx");}

I have a ListView that contains a large collection of rows with textboxes that users can optionally fill out. These textboxes are not databound. When the user clicks "next" i need to iterate over the rows and determine which fields the user has filled out, and then update a sort of "cart" with the data and move to a confirmation page ("you have selected a, g, v, zz, is this correct?" sort of thing).
I can think of two ways to deal with this. The first is, server side, to walk the items in the listview, get the control ID's, save this data to a list, then save it to a database cart table for the next screen to read.I can use jquery to collect all the values client side, then pass it back to the form in a hidden field and use something like Newton.Json to get the data into a similar list.What are the tradoffs of these two approaches?

I'm using a ModalPopupExtender in my website, to show "accept/cancel" messages, and catch the user selection at the server side. I put two buttons (ok/cancel) at the panel that will be shown as a modal popup, add them a server side event handler, but it does not fire.

I want to be able to load a customized log in page depending on a couple of parameters passed into the querystring.Each customized login page needs to be able to dynamically display log in errors and possibly have other variables passed in.
Let's say the dynamic login page looks like this (over-simplification here):
<form>
<% if (has_errors) { Response.Write(error_msg); } %>
<input type="text" name="email">
</form>
If the aspx page loads the file like this:
Response.writefile("path/to/custom/page");
the code shows up in the output and doesn't get processed. I have tried other ways to load the file contents (something similar to classic ASP includes) but get the same results every time.I could have all the custom pages set up as user controls, but I need 100% control over the css, js, and html - and the documentation I read here indicates that I won't have that level of granularity.link textPLUS - I'm stuck in a .net 2.0 environment - so .NET MVC is not available to me

i want to build a custom control using javascript on client side and ashx on server side.
I know about SWFUpload, how can i configure it with ashx on server side.
any tutorial how i can use FLASH objects to transfer files from client to server. i been looking for such tutorial for a while that uses flash object on client side and sends file info using bytes array to the server. also i want to reduce the size of the file on the client side before sending to safe bandwidth.
basically my client side is pure HTML/CSS/Jquery and Javascript using Ajax and my server side is ASP.NET with C# and most ASHX

We are developing products that will be used in the following way:
Various shared libraries which may be used by multiple products. I anticipate these libraries will mostly need to access string resources that contain error messages/exceptions. Various end-user based applications, designed to run as standalone apps on a PC. They will be required to support multiple languages upon deployment/installation.
Various web-sites which may be required to support multiple languages either at deployment time or possibly at runtime (i.e. minimal or zero downtime). Potentially the site might need to support multiple languages at the same time if being accessed globally.
We may be required to allow customers access to our language files for editing themselves. We would not wish to allow them access to our source code (other than the resource files/dlls) in order to achieve this. We might need to incorporate a facility to log exceptions in our native language (English in this case) and display them in the translated language. This will us debug our customers solutions in the field.
I am already aware of products like RCWinTrans and handling multiple languages in VC++/MFC applications. However, the requirements we are faced with here are more extensive and thus require us to make a few up front decisions that could be difficult to change long term, so ideally we want to make the best choice now. Based on my own knowledge, I have a few questions although I may be missing some tricks with .net that will be happily received. Here are my questions:
What would be best? Put all our resources in a seperate DLL per VS solution OR put the resources in each VS project. The way I see it per solution is easier to manage, modify, and allow customer access. The per project solution seems cleaner though and makes the individual projects more portable. This method would apply to our shared library based solutions as well as our end-application based solutions.
Is it possible to have two seperate resource files loaded at once i.e. if we want to log the exceptions in English but supply them back up the food chain (as a message in an exception) in the translated language? Are there any tricks we can use to automate this like AOP?

When the user selects the list of files from a page and hit's download selected, then a post back happens to server and starts zipping on the server. This works great until we hit the timeout on the page ( which is default to 90 seconds ) and just returns the process to the page even though the backend process is still zipping. Is it possible to show the size of zip file when the file is being zipped instead of waiting till the end to provide the download link?

I am trying to create a table dynamically in my code behind. My problem is I have a count of how many controls I want added to each TableRow after which I want to add that TableRow to the table and then start a new row. Here is the code I have no far but it just adds one row and does not move any of the controls to a seperate new row.
public void FillTable(string DB, int? appID, string function, int? rID, string UserId, int ControlsperRow)
{
OneEvaDataContext datacontext = new OneEvaDataContext();
var results = datacontext.sp_Build_Menu_Field_Names(DB, appID, function, rID);
int controlCount = 0;
[Code]....
I would have thought that doing the .Add only when I am finished building that row would work but I guess since I'm using the same TableRow "tr" It is only putting in just one row.
EDIT: in the is context base is my class which looks like this:
public class Dynamic_Search_Table : System.Web.UI.WebControls.Table
{

uploading multiple files from client to server with asp.net.I have been looking at the asp.net upload control but that is for one file (unless someone knows a better way to do it).
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.fileupload.aspx
For what I want to do I don't even really need a browse. I know the files off of the client are at a certain location. Is it possible to create a collection of *HttpPostedFile*s and upload those?
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.httppostedfile.aspx
I don't think it is possible but would be glad to be proven wrong. Is there a different asp.net method or control that will easily allow uploading multiple files from client to server?

Is there a way for me to create multiple xml files, one for every row, going by the primary key column, or do I have to create a separate query for each row?
I would also wondering what is the syntax for transforming this query into a stored procedure

I had a look through some of the older questions, but I can't find anything.I have a Wildcard HttpHandler on my web app which is processing the url and working out if it can do anything with itIf it can't, then the StaticFile Handler should pick it up and just serve it as a static file (like an html file).The problem is, it's going through the Wildcard handler, then seemingly not going to the StaticFileHander. Is there something I need to do to the Wildcard handler, or in the web config?This is my web.config:
<add name="Wildcard" path="*" verb="*" type="Rewriter.RewriterHttpModule"
modules="IsapiModule" requireAccess="None" allowPathInfo="false"
preCondition="" responseBufferLimit="4194304" />
<add name="StaticFile" path="*.*" verb="*"
modules="StaticFileModule,DefaultDocumentModule,DirectoryListingModule"
scriptProcessor="%windir%Microsoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727aspnet_isapi.dll"
resourceType="File" requireAccess="Read" allowPathInfo="false" preCondition=""
responseBufferLimit="4194304" />

I have an application that uses resource files to display items in multiple languages. My app uses quote a lot of javascript and the alerts need to display in the local language. To do this, I have created an http handler which will read the keys and values of the culture-specific resource file and write them to a JSON array which is then embedded in the page in a script tag, the messages can then be accesses using, for exmaple:
Message.Error (en-GB = "Error", fr-FR = "Erreur")
The messages http handler works great in development, however when I run the application on a test server, I get the error: Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture. Make sure "Resources.Alerts.resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "App_GlobalResources.b0n9j90e" at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed. The code that I use to acccess the resource file is:
ResourceManager manager = Resources.Alerts.ResourceManager;
ResourceSet resourceSet= Resources.Alerts.ResourceManager.GetResourceSet(Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture, true, true);
Where Resources.Alerts is the type that contains my multi-lingual definitions. The build action for the Alerts.resx file is set to "Embedded Resource". Any ideas why this works locally but not on my test server, am I missing something?
