View 2 RepliesI have a form which inserts data in DB on Submit button click but the problem is when client click the button multiple times its sends multiple create requests means multiple button click events for the same time of same data, which must not be.
I tried to disable the button when client click the Submit button first time but after this it does not call server click event handler or not fire the server click event once it got disabled.
How to handle this multiple click problem..
I used the following code to disable the button
[code]....
we have this web service that sends JSON code to an iPhone application.
Each time the app makes a request, the web serice accesses the database, grabs corresponding xml data, transforms it to JSON code and then sends it back to the app.
the xml data gets updated approximately every minute, you can assimiliate this process with a sport app of which you can watch live game commentaries.
Now the iPhone app is going to implement a refresh button which a user can proactivly hit it against the service to fetch the latest data.
So we need to implement something that is capable of handling multiple requests that could occur at the same time or in a very short period of time.
How to wire up HTML server controls events?
I added a Input (Text) control in my web form and turned it into an HTML server control so its an instance of HtmlInputText class.
If I double click on the control It only adds a OnClick event handler method inside the script tags in the HTML doc of the web form but how to I get to handle its Serverchange event exactly? does VS.net 2008 has no ability to auto wire up the event to the control, do I have to manually wire up the event handler?
I have the usual problem of dynamically created usercontrols not hitting the event handler for a linkbutton inside the control, but I've checked the usual problems and I can't work out what's wrong. I'm calling a function to create the controls at the bottom of my page.load (although I did try page.init as well just in case) outside of my page.ispostback check, and I'm setting the controls id's to a fixed name which is consistent across postbacks. Any ideas what's wrong?
[Code]....
Usercontrol code:
<asp:LinkButton runat="server" ID="lnkDeleteGroup" Text="Delete this group" />
[Code]....
I have a GridView with a BoundField column and quite a few item templates like the following:
<asp:GridView ID="gvUsers" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" OnRowCommand="gvUsers_RowCommand"
OnRowDataBound="gvUsers_RowDataBound" DataKeyNames="UserId" OnRowEditing="gvUsers_OnRowEditing"
OnRowUpdating="gvUsers_OnRowUpdating" OnRowUpdated="gvUsers_OnRowUpdated"
DataSourceID="DataSource1" Width="807px" Height="105px"
[Code]....
While handling the Edit link button I need to use the value in the BoundField, UserName. Unfortunately during the OnRowEditing handler, all strings are empty "". This is also true in the ensuing OnRowDataBound handler for the row in question where e.Row.RowState == DataControlRowState.Edit. Is there a way to obtain this value after the user clicks on the Edit link, and commences the OnRowEditing event?
I am programatically adding a control to an aspx page and binding a server side event to an index changed event inside the control. (It's a RadListBox from Telerik's ASP.NET controls) The problem is that on the postback triggered from the control, the event doesn't hit its eventhandler because on the postback the control isn't defined. Is there a way to handle this without having to retrace the logic taken before and rebuild the controls so the events that stem from it are processed?
View 1 RepliesI created a customDropdown usercontrol with Events and It worked fine.
Now I stored the path of the ascx file in the database table and i want to Load the ascx file and handle the Events dynamically in an aspx page.
To Load the usercontrol and access the public properties and method, I need to know the object i am trying to load, right?
For Example
FeaturedDDL c = (FeaturedDDL)Page.LoadControl("~/FeaturedDDL.ascx").
But I dont want to hardcode objectType "FeaturedDDL", coz i dont have that stored in my Database field.
Since I am loading the usercontrol by getting the path and name of the usercontrol from the database table,how will I know the ObjectType at that time?
How to accomplish that and also how to handle the events for these type of situation?
I want to create buttons and text boxs runtime and assigne to asp table.
When user clicks on button text box should be visible and user will be able to type some text and submit to server. This is nothing but something
like Blog. I am able to create asp table, button and testboxes but could not do visibility and events of buttons.
I thought that Page_Load events executed every time a page was loaded not just the first time. Am I wrong on this?
I have a Page_Load event that writes text to a label to display on the screen: Output.Text &= "Welcome to my Website <br />" (Output being the ID of a Label control)
I also have an On_Click event for a button to display the same information: Output.Text &= "Welcome to my Website <br />"
After clicking the button, I expected to see the output twice. Once for the page being reloaded and once for the click event. I thought that Page_Load events executed every time a page was loaded not just the first time.
I have a user control called ucTriStateButton. It raises an event when it is clicked, called TriStateButtonClicked. If I put this user control on a page, it works fine. Here is the declaration on the .aspx page:
[Code]....
When the button is clicked the method tsbTest_TriStateButtonClicked executes correctly.
The problem is when I put the user control in template field of a GridView.
[Code]....
There is no way to hook the event handler to the control in Page_Load because I cannot get a reference to tsbMorning. So I did it in the RowDataBound event handler of the GridView, where I also do a bunch of other row-specific stuff. Although this builds and runs, the event is never actually subscribed to and so never gets fired.
So the question is - how can I handle an event from many instances of the same user control within a GridView? I am calling the same bit of code regardless of which user control is actually clicked. I only need to know that one was clicked.
We are developing products that will be used in the following way:
Various shared libraries which may be used by multiple products. I anticipate these libraries will mostly need to access string resources that contain error messages/exceptions. Various end-user based applications, designed to run as standalone apps on a PC. They will be required to support multiple languages upon deployment/installation.
Various web-sites which may be required to support multiple languages either at deployment time or possibly at runtime (i.e. minimal or zero downtime). Potentially the site might need to support multiple languages at the same time if being accessed globally.
We may be required to allow customers access to our language files for editing themselves. We would not wish to allow them access to our source code (other than the resource files/dlls) in order to achieve this. We might need to incorporate a facility to log exceptions in our native language (English in this case) and display them in the translated language. This will us debug our customers solutions in the field.
I am already aware of products like RCWinTrans and handling multiple languages in VC++/MFC applications. However, the requirements we are faced with here are more extensive and thus require us to make a few up front decisions that could be difficult to change long term, so ideally we want to make the best choice now. Based on my own knowledge, I have a few questions although I may be missing some tricks with .net that will be happily received. Here are my questions:
What would be best? Put all our resources in a seperate DLL per VS solution OR put the resources in each VS project. The way I see it per solution is easier to manage, modify, and allow customer access. The per project solution seems cleaner though and makes the individual projects more portable. This method would apply to our shared library based solutions as well as our end-application based solutions.
Is it possible to have two seperate resource files loaded at once i.e. if we want to log the exceptions in English but supply them back up the food chain (as a message in an exception) in the translated language? Are there any tricks we can use to automate this like AOP?
I have user control page (.acsx file), which has following
<form action=abcd.aspx id="safsdf">
<input name="q" type="text" value="Search this site" size="13" onfocus="this.value='';"/> //this is input box
<input type="submit" name="sa" value="Submit" />
//this is input button </form>
When user click on submit button, then it postback to same page. I have another page , which reference to this user control and that is why multiple <form> tag appears on one single page and it cause my webpage to layout incorrectly. I would like to remove <form> tag from my above user control and replace with some other alternative, which does postback to same page without using <form> tag on user control (I have to remove <form> tag from user control because I must keep my <form> tag on other page).
Using vb.net/asp.net 2005 and sql server mgmt studio 2005.
I am querying sql server db and returning unique records, no duplicates when I return the records in sql server mgmt studio.
However when I bind the dataTable that I return it is showing multiple duplicates, meaning I see each record appear 8 times in the gridview, has anyone seen this or know what I'm doing wrong?
My code below:

I have a typical scenario that I'm struggling with from a performance standpoint. The user selects a value from a dropdown and clicks a button. A stored procedure takes that value as an input parameter, executes, and returns the results to a grid. For just one of the values ('All'), the query runs for roughly 2.5 minutes. For the rest of the values the query runs less than 1ms.
Obviously, having the user wait for 2.5 minutes just isn't going to fly. So, what are some typical strategies to handle this? Some of my own thoughts:New table that stores the information for the 'All' value and is generated nightlyCache the data on the caching server
I'm trying to built a website which performs actions (for example, perform backup or sends email or process data) on a specific time like every Friday 12 PM. Is there any tricks I can do with ASP.NET using C#?
View 2 RepliesI currently have a project that I seem to have ran into an issue regarding Roles and thought I would get some opinions on how to best handle the problem. The system will require editable, flexible roles that control not only the access of specific areas, but also the use of system functions (Adding Users, Editing Users, Viewing Reports etc.)The system currently allows users to have multiple roles, each of those roles has explicitly defined areas of access/actions, for example:
Role A can access areas 1,2,3 and can Add Users.
Role B can access areas 1,5,7 and can Modify Users.
Role C can access areas 4,6 and only View Users.
so a User could be in Roles A and C, and thus access : 1,2,3,4 and 6, and could Add and View Users.My first solution was to create a dictionary that would store all of the possible areas of access/access options into a Dictionary like so:
Dictionary<string,bool>
then when it is instantiated it pulls all of the properties from the database and then iterates through the roles to determine if they are accessible.All of that currently works just fine - however the project is quite Javascript/jQuery intensive so many of these options are called by client-side functions. I am trying to avoid having to wrap all of these client side functions with:
<%if(AccessDictionary[key])
//Enable or Disable Action
<%}%>
I am wondering about the following things: After a user logs in, what is the best way to store this Dictionary? Statically? In the Session?What would be the best method of storage such that the Dictionary will be easily accessed in the View? (As I currently see no way around wrapping my client-side functions)!
I need the user to be able to upload multiple files to my server, thus I am using the SWFUpload utility. SWFUpload sends the files one by one, and I need to store them all in the same temporary directory. My ASP.NET handler recieves the files one by one and I can store the file appropriately.
My problem is: How do I know which files belong to the same upload? Rephrased, how do I connect the files in my handler?
I have an application where I want to send an email reminder for an appointment 24 hours prior to the event. Users would log in and insert appointments. I would think I would want a background thread running on the server that would regularly check the database (say every hour) and generate an email if there is an event is due within the next day. From what I have read it seems like a Web service might do this. I guess I have a few questions
1) am I on the right track - is this an application for web services
2) can anyone point me to a good resource which can help me create the web service I would need. I would prefer if it is in VB and not C#.
In my application i have placed one label in the update panel and in triggers one textbox and one dropdownlist.
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="TestPanel" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblTest" runat="server"></asp:Label>
</ContentTemplate>
<Triggers>
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="txtTest" EventName="TextChanged" />
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="ddlTest" EventName="SelectedIndexChanged" />
</Triggers>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
In the textbox if i gave any wrong input then i am displaying the error message with label "lblTest".The error is displayed in the label sucessfully but when i am selecting the ddlTest dropdownlist the error message is disappeared.
Im using intelligencia urlrewriter as my url rewrite module. I have one very strange problem which only occurs when an url is rewritten but to make it more fun, not on all rewritten pages. Edit: Forgot to tell you what's the problem boing boing. the problem is that my Page_Load event gets fired 2 times.his is how my form rewrite adapter looks like:using System;
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
[code]...
First of all, I am creating a something like a client/server solution using a standard ASP.NET website - I do know this method is not adviced, and most people would love to scream "COMET!" or "HTML5 Sockets!" - but please don't ;-) !
What I am doing...
I am creating an MMORPG on a website.
I have several clients whom need to be in contact at the same time. This is done by a global object in the Application scope.
My problem
I need to invoke an event to several clients. For instance, when an attack has been performed, I need to update some graphics. The attack logic is resolved in the global object, but each of the clients has to respond to this.
Right now I do the following:
fightTrace.Reciever.InvokeMoveEnded(this);
fightTrace.FiredBy.InvokeMoveEnded(this);
(This is a kind of observer pattern)
What now happends is a race condition. The one who loads the page_load event will get both of these events, and the one who is not running them, will experience no changes in the UI.
So what is it I really want?
What I really need is some genuine and nice way to create an observer pattern through the application state. I need to send an event out to every "listener" which is in this case is a client, and then do some update.
I'm fairly new working with Javascript. I'm working on an issue where I have a GridView with multiple Checkboxes and Radiobuttons. A user can check multiple checkboxes and if a radiobutton is selected, a checkbox has to be selected. This scenario is working fine, presently with existing asp.net code. But, I want to automate it using Javascript, so that I could avoid a postback.
View 4 Replies've recently set up an ASP.net site (not using MVC.net) to use URL Routing (more on the code below) - when using user controls on the site (i.e I've created a "menu" user control to hold menu information) the page_load event for that control will fire twice when URLs have more than one variable passed over.
i.e.
pageName/VAR1 : will only fire the page_load event once.
while
pageName/VAR1/VAR2 : will fire the page_load event twice.
*Multiple extra VARs added on the end will still only fire the page_load event twice*.
Below are the code snippits from the files, the first is the MapPageRoute, located in the Global.asax :
[code]....
Note, that when I'm just hitting the page and it uses the default values for items, the reloads do not happen.
I have a masterpage setup, with a pageLoad in the topmost masterpage, which calls pageLoad2 for nested masterpages which calls pageLoad3 for content pages.
In my content page I have a jquery click event and in my nested masterpage I have a web user control.
Whenever I use the user control in the nested masterpage, it rebinds the click event in the content page (undoubtedly because the pageLoad3 is called again), but this makes the click event fire twice on a single click. The problem gets worse the higher up masterpages you go (eg. fires 3 times if user control from topmost masterpage is called).
how to make sure it only binds the jquery events once?
