What is happening the customer tries to login and get redirected back to loging page. In config file I have this
[Code]....
I can not think of some else, maybe cookies not able on client, or any other security issue, IE version.

I am using VWD 2010 on a windows 7 64 bit install. Using forms authentication I am not being redirected to the login page when not authenticated yet. Even if I start a new web site from template, clear out all cookies, I still go directly to default.aspx. The LoginView control displays the anonymous template verifing I am not authenticated.
configuration why redirection doesn't occur? Remember I am trying this with New Web site template with no mods so I don't think config issue is within application code.

I'm using Form Authentication in my web application.In my application I have a lot of pop up windows that include form inside.when the form ticket expires the user is redireced to Login page.Also it happens inside a popup window. If user leaves the pop up open and come back after the ticket is expired, it redirects him to the Login inside that pop up.

In asp.net we specify the redirect url when using forms authentications like this:
<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms name="myApp" loginUrl="Login.aspx" protection="All" defaultUrl="default.aspx" path="/" requireSSL="false"/>
</authentication>
this means that when a user log in, will be redirected to "default.aspx" using this method
FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(IDTextBox.Text, RememberCheckBox.Checked);
Now is it possible to make the user choose which page to be redirected to prior to login? for example the user chooses from a list the page to login to prior to login then when authenticated be redirected to this page instead of the default.aspx page. is that possible and if so how can this be done?

I'm writing a simple Intranet application using windows authentication. I want to restrict access to Safe/UCantSeeMe.aspx. I am aware of the AuthorizeAttribute, but this only works on methods. I also found a good post on doing this with the MVC pattern, but I'm not using MVC. This can be done with roles in forms based security. I read on MSDN that using windows based security means roles are based on groups, but it doesn't go into any detail. how can I restrict access to Safe/UCantSeeMe.aspx?

I am maintaining a website that has .Aspx web pages with no code behind C# files. This has been a challenge for me, because I need to do the following:
1.) When the page first loads, display a Java Script popup message box.
So how can I do this if I don not have a code behind C# file where I can check for isPostback in the on page load method? Can the on page load method be placed inline in the .aspx code? Anyway I need to figure out how to answer my question 1 above.

I am trying to implement login functionality in asp.net 3.5 application. When i try to login as UserA in my application and it gives me an error
The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
Requested URL: /default.aspx
I do not have any page in my application that is named default.aspx.
If i do not log out and just close the internet explorer with the top right close button and then run the application again then it shows UserA to be logged in and show the startup page of the application.

I want to use the login component with forms authentication, but i don't want to use the whole package. I have a database with users in it, and i create the users manually, through another section of my site. I will authenticate them using my own functions, in the Authenticate event.
But, specifying the forms authentication in web.config, i seem to recall having seen somewhere, that i could add pages that were protected, while the rest of the site wasn't.
How do i do this? Currently, i have only 1 page that i want to protect.

I just observed something with the .net 3.5 VS2010 Login control. It seems to response.redirect is doing
something I cant explain:
[Code]....
after I hit the response.redirect all that is happening is that I stay on the login page and the URL
changes to http://localhost:50324/Account/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fAccount%2fAdmin%2fApproval.aspx
Why am I not properly redirected? I used server.transfer, that put me on the right page (Approval.aspx) BUT as soonas I clicked a button, I was back at Login.aspx.

All the examples and websites i have looked at redirect a user to the error.aspx page when an error occurs. How do you just display a friendly error message on the page the user is viewing saying something like "Sorry unable to do whatever" I've tried using a try catch block on my class that executes a stored procedure and put another try catch on the controller, but this does not work and i still get the default error message (System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled by user code) My code is below:
[Code]....
So how can i just return ViewData["SqlError"] message in page.

I am using a custom error page in IIS 6:<customErrors redirectMode="ResponseRedirect" mode="On" defaultRedirect="Error2.aspx"/>I want to disable authentication for the custom error page because the error being raised is related to an authentication module and I don't want to get into an infinite loop and I want to display a clean error page to the user. I have been trying the following configuration to do that.
<location path="Error2.aspx">
<system.web>
<authentication mode="None"/>

We currently have a simple portal kind of functionality built based on ASP.NET Forms-based authentication. All the existing apps that make use of this authentication mechanism are ASP.NET based (and run on the same domain). So, all works fine. We have a new requirement to get some new Java-based web applications make use of the same authentication as well. All our apps are accessible over HTTPS.
