Security :: XML To Access A WebSite Is Not Working?
Oct 16, 2010
I am sending the following xml to access a website and getting the error with the stack. I have spent weeks on it and getting no where. I am willing to pay for the advice as well, as I am getting sick of this!
I have created the asp.net application and Hosted on Different Server(i.e Test,Development). its is an Intranet Application But When I tried to Host on Production the WebApplication dont work when I check the "Integerated Authentication" and when I check the "anonymous Access" i get null value for the HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name.ToString() returns null. and User.Identity.IsAuthenticated also return false. what changes do I have to make in IIS and Webconfig of my application so that it can run on ProductionSERVER
I'm trying to restrict access to one page on my website. However, the code I'm using doesn't seem to work for this purpose. I can get the code to work by removing the following out of the web.config.
This works fine by preventing access to the page unless a password is entered. However, I've realised that if I type the page name into the browser this will by-pass the login page and allow access to the page I want to lock down.
I have just put my first ASP.Net site live on the internet but im having problems with my login. When i try to login my sit is throwing an error.
The SSE Provider did not find the database file specified in the connection string. At the configured trust level (below High trust level), the SSE provider can not automatically create the database file.
I have run my script from visual studio so the profiles are there but i cant login?
I am a newbie to asp.net and have recently been building a web... I have a login control on the main page which when logged in verifys the user and redirects them to the home page... I published this to the server previously and it worked. Today when I tried logging into my system however I got the following error message:-
"Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again."
The accounts did work before but since I have uploaded a newer version of my program onto the server the above message is displayed. I have been on many websites and read previous forums with suggesstions to add <roles> in the web.config file however the login control worked before and I have not changed anything on the site apart from a different page that doesnt affect the login.
Few points to make... the login control is using the asp.net configuration pre built tables it generates for you, I have created the users and roles inside of asp.net configuration so it is not a custom membership... I am at a complete loss as how to get my login control to work having tried to insert roles into the webconfig file.
I have a simple online store where there are products that can be put into a cart and purchased. There is a admin page that can be logged into so that new products can be added or existing products can be removed or edited. To get to the admin area I need to put a /admin/index after the main page loads up. If I want to give my friends (from any location) the ability to add new products should I create a link to the admin area on the main page (like at the bottom) of the main page or should I just tell them to type in /admin/index after they go to the webpage?
I need to restrict access to my website by physical PC. When a user signs up I want to be able to restrict access to one machine for that account so it cannot be shared round, if, for example, somebody else in the same office wanted to access the system on their PC they would need a seperate sign in.
I have done some investigation and I "think" the only way is installing an ActiveX component (which isn't an issue that is restricts to IE only) and then read the users MAC address. Am I trying to over complicate things or is that the only way? I realise that MACS can be spoofed but this is not much of an issue.
We have been using AzMan in development and all was going well until we tried using it our QA website (Windows 2008 Enterprise SP2) and I get: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.RuntimeType.InvokeDispMethod(String name, BindingFlags invokeAttr, Object target, Object[] args, Boolean[] byrefModifiers, Int32 culture, String[] namedParameters) at System.RuntimeType.InvokeMember(String name, BindingFlags bindingFlags, Binder binder, Object target, Object[] providedArgs, ParameterModifier[] modifiers, CultureInfo culture, String[] namedParams) at System.Web.Security.AuthorizationStoreRoleProvider.CallMethod(Object objectToCallOn, String methodName, Object[] args) at System.Web.Security.AuthorizationStoreRoleProvider.GetClientContext(String userName) at System.Web.Security.AuthorizationStoreRoleProvider.GetRolesForUserCore(String username) at System.Web.Security.AuthorizationStoreRoleProvider.GetRolesForUser(String username) at OurApp.login.ValidateAgainstSpecificADProvider(ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider provider) at OurApp.login.AutoValidateForAllADProviders() at OurApp.login.Btn_Login_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.RaisePostBackEvent(String eventArgument) at System.Web.UI.Page.RaisePostBackEvent(IPostBackEventHandler sourceControl, String eventArgument) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)
This is when the call to GetRolesForUser(username) is made to the AuthorizationStoreRoleProvider. The website is running under it's own machine service account and when I look at the Security tab in AzMan.msc I can see the service account has Administrator access to the store. I've tried adding to the Reader rights but this doesn't do anything.
This error has not shown up in development on Windows 7 Workstation and interestingly the local store was created in the same way from the website code, so the website service account has full access. I've checked file permissions and played around with the security settings in AzMan.msc and I cannot get it going. At one stage the error changed to "Invalid Handle". There is nothing in the event log so it's very tough to troubleshoot an obscure COM error like this. I guess it could be anything! :)
I also tried impersonating a domain account for the call based on some other posts I read on the net but this didn't work for me. The other interesting thing to note is that the website creates the store (first time) and it actually mnages to create the store without any problems at all. It's just this call to GetRolesForUser that blows out.
I want to have a PHP login form on my website. When the user enters a username and password and clicks submit, they should be directed to a remote website logged in (therefore skipping the login form on the remote site).
As mentioned in the title, the remote site is built using ASP.NET.
I've tried to search for a solution this but really not finding.
I have a login control that is working beautifully on my localhost, but not working on the server. It validates my username & password - and gives me an error if I enter an invalid username/password. However, if I enter the correct username/password, the page refreshes, but does not redirect me to the "ReturnUrl" that I see in the URL. I've seen posts on this, but nothing that I tried worked. I've tried setting the 'MembershipProvider'attribute of the login control. I don't want to set the DestinationUrl...I want it to take what is in the ReturnUrl in the querystring. I don't think it's a web.config issue cuz it works on localhost??
I trying dotnetzip on localhost everything works fine.but on a real dotnet hosting it raises error :
Access to the path 'C:inetpubvhostslahblah.comsubdomains aporhttpdocsDotNetZip-luqevaxu.tmp' is denied. using (ZipFile zip = new ZipFile(Server.MapPath("~")+"/a.zip")) { zip.AddFile(Server.MapPath("~")+"/deneme.txt"); zip.Save(); }
I'm writing a simple Intranet application using windows authentication. I want to restrict access to Safe/UCantSeeMe.aspx. I am aware of the AuthorizeAttribute, but this only works on methods. I also found a good post on doing this with the MVC pattern, but I'm not using MVC. This can be done with roles in forms based security. I read on MSDN that using windows based security means roles are based on groups, but it doesn't go into any detail. how can I restrict access to Safe/UCantSeeMe.aspx?
I have implemented role based security in my asp.net 2.0 vb.net application using windows authentication and the windowstokenroleprovider and limiting access to certain pages using the location tag to specific active directory groups.
The issue is that when a user tries to access a page they are not authorized to view it brings up a login prompt and when it does not pass it takes them to the default page that tells them they are not authorized to view the page. I am wondering if there is a way to throw up a custom page that tells them they are not athorized to view the page that I can incorporate into the site itself with the header and so forth? if this page could come up in lieu of the sign in box popping up as well.
I need to implement Code Access Security, and URL based security using the roles & types...
For instance, the (Subscriber/Basic) would need to view a different set of pages, and have different access to things then a (Subscriber/Business).
I think I can handle the Code Access security with a custom attribute, but I am unsure to how enforce a User be apart of 2 roles in the URL Authorization.
I am currently using the web.config to deny/allow access to the directories/pages.
e.g.
/Areas/Admin/web.config
[Code]....
Is it possible to force the user to be apart of 2 roles with this technique?
i developed an asp.net(2.0) applicaions which contains the attachments of the clients . these attachments are saved in the shared folder and retrive the file when the user requests.if i maintain the application and the shared folders in the same system it will work properly.if i maintain the application in one server and the file folder in the other server i face a lot of security issus like1.Access Denied2.Couldnot find the part of the path......for this i made an common account for the application server and the file server and also set impersonation to true.Even the i got the couldnot find the part of the path error.i already gave the everyone with full control to the shared folder and i added the common account and gave it to full controlIs there is any alternate for the save and retrive the files to and from the shared folder.
I am working with a precompiled ASP.net website. I have most of the *.aspx.vb files, but I am missing some of the library files, and only have the DLLs. Can I still selectively compile aspx.vb files? When I just hit build, It errors with 'This application is already precompiled'
I've uploaded a simple Azure website (am testing out authentication) and have found this:http://mateerweb.cloudapp.net/ (live for next 12 hours or so!)Its supposed to look like this:Problem: How to get the live version looking like the test one on every deploy. After a recompile sometimes it works..
I have deployed my asp.net 2.0 website on IIS, and I tested there by browsing website in IIS and it's working fine. But I am getting the below error while browsing the websiteConfiguration Error Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. i am working in asp.net and csharp, we have 10 user, but certain user only need to put dataentry. how to enable and disable based on the user to access certain form ,like add, modify view options.
I have created a simple app with a page having a server side form, three fields and a button that submits and performs two operations - 1) adds the form fields to the database table 2) sends an email. Now everything works fine on the web browser on my machine but when I access the app through my mobile, the page does not seem to work. the UI and all are set but the button click functionality doesnt seem to be working and also the label which is set after a successful submit is already visible and showing the "thank you" message. Am i doing something wrong here? I have checked the app on Nokia Smartphone browser, android phone, and iphone simulator.
I have a new website that I'm trying to deploy. It works great on my local machine, but when I install on the server, it no longer works and I don't get any error messages. I'm using SQL Server Express, but this isn't installed on the server
