When I create a new website application in visual studio. When I am ready to debug Visual Studio sets all this up for me and it runs on local host automatically.I guess in my scenario I gotta set it up manually. In my application, first, i have not connected to iis server, and trying to access secondary path at this time it is accessing that path. but when it is connected to IIS server, it is giving unathourizedaccess exception.
i developed an asp.net(2.0) applicaions which contains the attachments of the clients . these attachments are saved in the shared folder and retrive the file when the user requests.if i maintain the application and the shared folders in the same system it will work properly.if i maintain the application in one server and the file folder in the other server i face a lot of security issus like1.Access Denied2.Couldnot find the part of the path......for this i made an common account for the application server and the file server and also set impersonation to true.Even the i got the couldnot find the part of the path error.i already gave the everyone with full control to the shared folder and i added the common account and gave it to full controlIs there is any alternate for the save and retrive the files to and from the shared folder.

I have attempted to deploy my first WEB application and needed to include the Membership for Internet login. When I copied the application to the WebSite, I assumed that the ASPNETDB.MDF needed to be copied too with everything that I defined for users and roles. Looked at the WEB.CONFIG and expected to see something defined here as to where it is located, etc. Do not see anything in my project with the name.
When i entered the ip address in my system, it works fine but when i tried it in other machine, it is not working. It leaves me Connection Time Out Error.
Whenever I create a new folder in my website (VS008) and add an item (Class) it can't be seen by the other pages, even though new class is public. Only if I add the class to the app_code folder or create a bin folder for it then it could be shared from these folders however I want to create my own custom named folders for organization and keep my classes there.
I am using gmail server settings to send emails for my asp.net website. Since there is a limitation on number of mails sent per day and limitations on sending to number of users, I cant use this service for long. Even If I use an idea to make sure I use multiple id's to send thousands of emails it will still not work.
I am taking care of all norms of subscribe and unsubscribe options, so that only registered users will receive mails.
I need to build a system which send mails accross thousands of emails * thousands of users per day. . I think this is possible, as emailers in twitter,facebook, orkut, linkeden work on same basis. Many of them use MailChimp Email Service.
But I am hosting my website on shared hosting (www.crystaltech.com) rather than dedicated server (Host Provider suggested me to go to dedicated server for my mail requirement). This host provider charges a lot to me if I include a dll, so I am not able to use dll. Is there any I can send bulk emails without using a dedicated server or dll.(Will use it in only in worst case scenario).My host providers said that they will be able to give service of sending only 800 mails per day. The error is mentioned below, the cssfriendly.dll is in bin, and browser file is in there app_browsers folder. And it is working in same PC (developping PC), on remote server that belong to my company (i just installed .net 3.5 on that server)
I tried uploading the same site on 2 dufferents hosting, and finally i got the same error. What could gone wrong ? I tried contacting the hosting support but they work in ticketing system and this is extremely slow.

My ASP.NET MVC 2 application runs under built-in local NETWORK SERVICE account. I want to set up access permissions for the folder which resides in another computer, but in the same domain. I located that folder right-clicked to open its properties form, clicked to Security tab and pressed Add button which displayed Add user form with correct domain name in the location field. I referred to the account with following syntax:
<domain name><server name>$
because I learned that NETWORK SERVICE account uses machine account when connected to other computers in the domain. However, the system couldn't find the account, so refuses to add the account. Without the domain name it adds a user, but that user seems to be local user, not web server's NETWORK SERVICE account. What am I doing wrong?
By the way, the above syntax worked when I created login for the sql server which is different computer from the web server.
I'm looking to create a log-in feature so users can create their own profiles on the website. I don't know the first thing about setting it up... Databases, login controls, etc... This is my first time using ASP.net but I am a fast learner. I really need to have this feature set up tonight if possible.
Our site as it exists now utilizes only the bin file. We are going to re-migrate our site to use the .cs files to compile on the fly. What settings do I need to set to allow for this and what disadvantages if any are there for using the .cs files in prod?
I have been asked to setup RSS Fed capability on the web site I am designing. I guess that we want to notify folks when articles or content changes on the site. I have posted in beginners since I am new to using RSS feeds.
1. How can I allow visitors to my site to "sign up" for RSS feeds?
2. How can I generate a "feed" programmatically so that it is sent to those who signed up for RSS feeds?
3. If my questions indicate a fundamental misunderstanding of what RSS is.
I have my SqlServer 2005 database at a web host. I recently figured out how to set permissions for the stored procedures (see this link if you face the same problem:

Now I wonder: What permissions should I give the website's visitors?
In a stored procedure's Properties window, I have three availabale users, the db owner (the db name), "guest" and "public". My bet is on public.
As far as permission types go, I hev the following available:
Alter, Control, Execute, Take Ownership, and View Definition. My guess is that the one of interest is Execute, correct?
In other words, should I set all stored procedures to Execute for public (not that I seem to have the permission to do that myself - I get an error message when I try to alter them)? If so, could I ask the web host to set them globally for me? Or should I only set stored procedure using UPDATE/INSERT/DELETE to Execute?
I've designed and built this form using Visual Studio 2010 in design mode and set the appropriate controls for each function example txtemail for the text field. I have a website solution where I have among other things some code for a photo album. I know wanted to make a separate website solution with only the photoalbum code. It is however giving me some issues with not finding files, which I believe are caused by not being able to set the virtual path in the website solution. The option is simply not present in the options as you can see on the image on the right.
When I create a new website in IIS and its associated application pool, I get the option of setting the .NET framework to 1.0 or 2.0.Via windows updates I have installed versions 3.0 and 3.5..however these dont show up in the drop down list.I read that the aspnet_regiis -i command needs to be run in the installed .NET framework folder for it to be visible in IIS.However, the aspnet_regiis.exe is only present in the 1.0 and 2.0 folders. Can I use the same exe to register the 3.5 framework with IIS?
I want to call a non shared function in a shared function in which i am having a textbox control instance. Its giving no error but when i call this shared function from client callback it gives me no response
Any Idea except removing shared from the function.
