I'm looking to create a log-in feature so users can create their own profiles on the website. I don't know the first thing about setting it up... Databases, login controls, etc... This is my first time using ASP.net but I am a fast learner. I really need to have this feature set up tonight if possible.
View 2 RepliesI have a TextBox control reside in a Wizard control which is inside the InsertTemplate of Formview control. I am trying to set the blur function of this TextBox control with the following code -

This code does not work !
the usernameTextbox[0] do get a reference to the Textbox control (the id is the Textbox id) but It does not accept the blur function.
Our site as it exists now utilizes only the bin file. We are going to re-migrate our site to use the .cs files to compile on the fly. What settings do I need to set to allow for this and what disadvantages if any are there for using the .cs files in prod?

I have been asked to setup RSS Fed capability on the web site I am designing. I guess that we want to notify folks when articles or content changes on the site. I have posted in beginners since I am new to using RSS feeds.
1. How can I allow visitors to my site to "sign up" for RSS feeds?
2. How can I generate a "feed" programmatically so that it is sent to those who signed up for RSS feeds?
3. If my questions indicate a fundamental misunderstanding of what RSS is.

When I create a new website application in visual studio. When I am ready to debug Visual Studio sets all this up for me and it runs on local host automatically.I guess in my scenario I gotta set it up manually. I have my SqlServer 2005 database at a web host. I recently figured out how to set permissions for the stored procedures (see this link if you face the same problem:

Now I wonder: What permissions should I give the website's visitors?
In a stored procedure's Properties window, I have three availabale users, the db owner (the db name), "guest" and "public". My bet is on public.
As far as permission types go, I hev the following available:
Alter, Control, Execute, Take Ownership, and View Definition. My guess is that the one of interest is Execute, correct?
In other words, should I set all stored procedures to Execute for public (not that I seem to have the permission to do that myself - I get an error message when I try to alter them)? If so, could I ask the web host to set them globally for me? Or should I only set stored procedure using UPDATE/INSERT/DELETE to Execute?
I've designed and built this form using Visual Studio 2010 in design mode and set the appropriate controls for each function example txtemail for the text field. I have a website solution where I have among other things some code for a photo album. I know wanted to make a separate website solution with only the photoalbum code. It is however giving me some issues with not finding files, which I believe are caused by not being able to set the virtual path in the website solution. The option is simply not present in the options as you can see on the image on the right.
View 3 RepliesWhen I create a new website in IIS and its associated application pool, I get the option of setting the .NET framework to 1.0 or 2.0.Via windows updates I have installed versions 3.0 and 3.5..however these dont show up in the drop down list.I read that the aspnet_regiis -i command needs to be run in the installed .NET framework folder for it to be visible in IIS.However, the aspnet_regiis.exe is only present in the 1.0 and 2.0 folders. Can I use the same exe to register the 3.5 framework with IIS?

I want to add another RadGrid inside of the RadToolTip. The function setting up the datasource of that second RadGrid should take "Value" as a parameter?

what I'm looking to do is to get a web site search function where I can enter the URLs and body text myself rather than running a spider unless the spider can handle my url querystring structure. Obviously, something automatic would be best but I'm not too choosy as long as it is free.

I wrote a asp.net website with Jquery. I was using it to post and get data's from the Sql Server database with Generic Handlers (.ashx). I also used Jquery Autocomplete plugin. Everything I wrote works just fine in the computer that I use. Then my company wanted to deploy the website to their server. When they run the website on that computer everything works fine including autocompletion but one part that i wrote doesn't function. I used in javascript code $.post and $.get functions and not working properly i guess... It works on my computer and i double checked the connection strings in the other computer to make sure that it is not a database problem. I couldn't find a solution. I am not allowed to give the codes in my company so i need to ask that may that be the cause of version of jquery i use? Does it vary depends on it? Because the computers that i tried to run the applications have different versions of internet explorer. Or I know it is nearly impossible but may jquery corrupt on changing of computers ?. I tried everything but I couldn't find a solution. The thing that confuses me is the autocomplete plugin of Jquery works just fine. The version of Jquery that i use is 1.2.6 and I use .NET Framework 2.0.

Currently i am learning on create a website with appointment feature. The website i am doing basically a dental appointment web, which show the free slot of dentist on the website and enable patient to book appointment by schedule an appointment based on time and date given. I have done others thing such as register, login, report those however i have no idea on doing the appointment module. I am trying to learn easy way to create booking feature for dental website. My server regional and setting is English (US). Now my problem is
1) When user access to my system and his pc setting is English (UK), it will prompt and error
and after i debug i suspect it is because of Datetime conflict (dd/MM/yyyy and MM/dd/yyyy)
2) I cannot fix or limit my user to setting his/her pc regional setting to UK
So what can i do in my web application solve this issue?
(Can i write any code in my client side (.aspx) to convert or do standardization to US)

I'm working with ASP.Net web services and am having a problem with a long-running process that takes about 5 minutes to complete, and it's timing out. To fix this, I was able to set the executionTimeout on the server's web.config to 10 minutes, and then set the .Timeout property on the Web Service object to approximately 9 minutes. Now, I'm worried that this may possibly cause some other web service calls to sit there for 10 minutes before they time out rather than the previous 90-100 seconds. I know the default on the client side is 100 seconds, but wasn't sure if updating the server's timeout setting would affect this.
Bottom line is - Is it safe to update the server's timeout setting to a long amount like 10 minutes, and rely on the default timeout on the client, or could this end up causing some problems?
I setup my server and Iam able to use VWD "copy website" function to move files from my local computer to my server.But is the "copy website" function not secure? When I setup my connection "by selecting FTP site" I have to enter my FTP username and password, VWD states that the password is sent unencypted in plain text and it can be intercepted.So is it bad form to use the "copy website" function?

It shouldn't make any changes unless the tags are in the right format because the problem now is if the tags are not in the right format when client changes then its importing over the existing files and directing to an error page which I dont want it should simply stop the import function if they are nt in the order.the code for this function is below
