I have a custom attribute that I use in various elements in my ASP.NET HTML markup. Obviously it violates the DTD, and I get a validation error from Visual Studio. I hate ignoring errors in the error output window. Is there a way to suppress this error message? For example:
<label id="MyId" cid="MyCID" runat="server" />
cid is a custom attribute I use for various purposes, and it produces a validation error:
Validation (XHTML 1.0 Transitional): Attribute 'cid' is not a valid attribute of element label
A typical CSS property that I use often is overflow-x and overflow-y. Sometimes I use CSS 2.1 or later properties or selectors. These (correctly) raise a validation error: Validation (CSS 2.0): 'overflow-y' is not a known CSS property name. For years I ignored this, but it kinda feels wrong. It's possible to switch off warning in C# and other languages for a particular line, block, file or project. Is something similar possible for CSS (or HTML) errors or warnings? Instead of switching it all off, I prefer a more granular solution.
I am building master page in visual studio 2005 and I have placed contentplaceholder into between <head> and </head> tag of master page, but in source view of visual studio 2005, I am getting error that says "unrecognized tag prefix or device filter" how do i get rid of this error or is this bug in visual studio 2005
I am getting the following error when I try to establish ftp remote connection using the 'copy web site' feature on visual studio 2005.
unable to open the web 'ftp://209.*.*.*/httpdocs'. The computer is disconnected from the network.
Why can't I connect to the remote site on visual studio 2005? I can do the same thing on Dreamweaver with no problem. I can ping the IP successfully. I can open the ftp URL on a web browser with no problem.
One of them is a website and when I have to compile it, it lasts 3 minutes. I think the problem is in some operation that VS2005 do when is validating the website cos in the output screen stays 2 minutes or more in this line :
and then the "Validation of website completed" line appear and the project is launched in a normal time...So the question is What VS2005 do while validating the website?I have 20 references in the website bin folder I don't know if this could be one of the problems..
Net Framework 2.0 Net Framework 3.5 and when I use ajax, butlater when I use add-I add objects to be added soon. Why can not I add the Net Framework 2.0, also doing a mistake somewhere.
In my windows application I'm loading more than 100 urls in my web browser control one by one in a for loop and need to print them programatically after each URL gets loaded . But, I keep getting the Javascript error for so many URLs. I'm not sure why this error keep coming.
I have upgraded to VS2010 recently. Now VS2010 is not opening i get an messg box displaying. Microsoft Visual Studio has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. It automatically gets restarted and displays the same message. I have re-installed VS more than 3 times.
I have a website on visual studio 2008 on my local machine. When I run through the debugger I get the following error, however when I browse the same website through the IIS manager (running IIS7.5), I can browse it. What do I need to fix to run it through debugger? The website is set as an application.

I have just installed IIS manager version 6.1 build 7600 and visual studio 2010 (latest additions of both).
I have followed all the instructions and given the correct permisions ect for IIS to work with my directory. I have a helloworld website that has worked via the localhost server many times, but almost hourly something happens to the settings in IIS and it starts throwing errors.
The current error copied below. Basically I am wondering a few things...
1. Why does my IIS constantly do something so that it works one minute and then it wont the next (this is with an identical helloworld.htm file so I know it is not something I am doing with the file that is messing it up).
HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error

I am walked by Scott Hanselman's book through how to create NerdDinner MVC application. To validate the entity type Dinner that is generated by Entity Data Model Wizard, he extended the entity Dinner first by using partial class trick and then made a buddy class to be associated with Dinner.
namespace NerdDinner.Models { [MetadataType(typeof(DinnerValidation))] public partial class Dinner { } public class DinnerValidation { Required(ErrorMessage = "Title is required")] [StringLength(50, ErrorMessage = "Title may not be longer than 50 characters")] public string Title { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage = "Description is required")] [code]...
I am coding a website with a masterpage, and several aspx pages. While working with one of the ages today,I was adding a validation control to one of the controls on my page.As soon as I added the control, the screen flashed, and every image on the screen got blown up to about 100x is normal size. Every image! Even those on the Masterpage which wasn't even currently open. The images are also that very same size runtime.I don't think I've done anything permanent, I feel likeperhaps it's just a setting, however I can't find anything that has any control over the image size when viewing them.
How is it possible to add a custom error message to the ValidationSummary HtmlHelper? Can it be part of my model? It's for a sign up form and I need to validate whether the user already exists.
When I run a web program from visual studio .net 2008 then it output is displayed in Mozilla Firefox and a error is appear 'page load error, try again'. I get an HttpException (details below) after installing Visual Studio 2010 Pro RTM in an application developed using Visual Studio 2010 RC. The platform used was ASP.NET MVC2 RTW (already under VS10 RC).
I first uninstalled all RC software and even ASP.NET MVC 2, and then did a "clean" install of VS10 RTM. The ASP.NET MVC 2 version now installed on my dev machine is 2.0.50217.0.

The error occurs on this "Html.RenderAction":

The "LanguageController" just calls into another service function as below:

Does anybody have an idea what is causing the problem?
Edit:
By the way, I might also share the actual view (partial view) that would show the languages to select from:
I have a website which created first by Visual Studio 2005, then I convert in to Visual Studio 2008 and currently using Visual Studio 2008. After Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1, HTML 5 and CSS 3 seem to be available. I want to convert my website to a VS 2010 website which uses HTML5.
How can this be done?
Is it possible to convert it to an ASP.NET Web Application while I'm porting it from VS2008 to Visual Studio 2010 ?
I know how to convert a website to web application in Visual Studio 2008 but I haven't used Visual Studio 2010 and have no idea about the differences.
